Teleharmonic hovers between positive-mood beauty, sexiness, and darkness, like no other. Almost feels like Caribbean music sensibilities meeting free jazz meeting American South soul music. Gorgeous track.
Thanks for doing The Smile’s second album. I saw them touring for A Light For Attracting Attention and they were, of course, amazing and I’m hoping they make it out to California on the next tour so I can experience these songs live. Beside Thom and Jonny they also brought over Nigel Godrich from Radiohead. I do really like Tom Skinner’s drums, too.
Never listened to you guys before, but what an album and reaction! Really recommend you seeing them live they're spectacular. Likely releasing an album 3 at some point as well
This album is incredibly good - it feels like a modern take on prog-rock especially Read the Room, but wrapped up in brilliant lyrics and some crazy harmonies and time signatures
Honestly kinda just waiting for Radiohead to drop again I think Colin, Edd and Phil really help the dynamic obviously. That being said this is defo a fantastic album, very weird and fun.
I saw them recently in Brighton amazing band and album. Wall Of Eyes is surprisingly the weakest song on the record and the artwork is by longtime collaborator Stanley Donwood.
Defo the most psychedelic album Thom and Jonny have ever made, he even alludes to it in the lyrics mentioning trips and altered states... I fookin love this album, 10/10. Great reaction lads. Music for musicians, Justin from The Darkness said the exact same thing on his review of the album (he praised the album to the heavens)
Great reaction to a good album, but can I just say Thom and Jonny are not ex-Radiohead members. Radiohead is still a thing, all be it on a break at the moment, until they tell us otherwise.
As per your dad's recommendation, check out the video for 'wall of Eyes', it's great. It was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, who directed There will be blood, and the score to that was done by none other than, Jonny Greenwood, amazing score, it's worth a listen. Paul also directed the video for Daydreaming on A moon shaped pool, very trippy. Thanks, guys, interesting watch with you both, again. Sorry to hear you weren't able to get tickets. They'll be back. Saw them in Dublin, 7th March, checked tickets just before we went in, there were still tickets available. Shame I didn't know you your situation then. Subbed.
Really jealous mate. Bet it was brilliant. We did see Radiohead back in the day but struggled for tickets on the Smile. Will try harder next time. Cheers mate 👍👍👍
Fun fact he's not detuning the guitar on Bending Hectic. It's just a bend from the A to C#. Not the hardest thing to do but for 4 minutes it can get tiring. I'm surprised his guitar stays in tune.
