The Sneaky Finishing Technique That You RARELY See

I don't see this done as much as I think it could be used, and I'd guess it's primarily because most players try to use their athleticism more than actually slowing down to throw off the defender's timing. If you can add this into your game, it's an amazing option to have.

Great stuff. This is pretty much the only overhand layup that should be taught/used in my opinion. Decel, jump vertically, hang in the air and shoot on the way down. If you're not finishing with a finger roll, use this "quicksand". Hate seeing young players (and their coaches) drilling endless overhand layups without any deceleration and they land close to the baseline. While they could have gotten thousands of reps improving their brakes, which are huge for speed changes, defense, injury prevention and even BBIQ.

Yeah but if your smaller than average it’s best if you learn to be shifty/crafty rather than act like doncic and jokic. Both players are 6’5ft+ and don’t get it twisted they are still very athletic, just the people they are around outshine them

Very helpful, thanks a lot!!:) I was wondering about this "new" go to move that every nba point guard uses so often since the last year. They do this kind of slow extremely wide in air-hanging two step and then accelerate. I just remember Irving, Garland or morant using this. do you know something about it and how to train it?

@spliffsforbreakfast
@spliffsforbreakfast Год назад
I wouldn’t go as far as to say this is a “rare” finish. Maybe only a select group of guys do it consistently in the league but this is something I know plenty of people grew up doing. Also a lot of people do this unintentionally when trying to power dribble into a euro or to bring the ball over their heads. The contact causes you to just slow down and slightly fade on the layup.
@devvv4616
