The Sonic Adventure Trilogy* is Flawed (And That's Ok) 

I never saw Heroes as SA3, it's too different mechanically, gameplay AND storywise (every team does each level & boss in the exact same order all at the exact same time, & note this is the only 3D game where you DON'T get the emeralds as the story naturally progresses)

Wouldn't Sonic 06 count more as Sonic Adventure 3? This coming from someone who loves Sonic Heroes.

The closest game to be Sonic Adventure 3 is Sonic 06 You got the hub world, multiple playable characters, three story routes that are related to each other + final story, Silver is introduced (just like how Shadow is introduced in SA2) Sonic Heroes is way different in play style and mechanics than Adventure

Just so you know, the main reasons of why Sonic Heroes is such a rushed game are some truly serious ones. I know what those reasons are because some RU-vidr explained them in one of the videos that he made for his channel. 1. The Playstation company had set up a deadline and told Sega that if they couldn't make a PS2 port of Heroes before that deadline, then those 2 gaming companies would no longer be allowed to have any connections (they would no longer be allowed to make any Playstation console ports of any future games that would be developed by Sonic Team). 2. At a certain time during developement the head of Sonic Team (Takashi Isuka) was forced to complete that game all by himself and the stress of that almost killed him! Good that that dude managed to survive that amount of stress.

I'm pretty sure Sonic 06 is the more true Sonic Adventure 3 than sonic heroes. That game had no real story and didn't develop any characters outside of maybe sonic team.

Sonic Heroes is the closest we'll ever get to Sonic Adventure 3 after all not only is it a sequel to SA2 but it has the same gameplay style despite having its own gameplay elements

Glad to see an increase in fair criticism from people nowadays have for sonic compared to before. I regard the adventure series as some of the best in the series but that does not mean its perfect in all regards. Lots of people forget that perspectives on games are subjective, so its always interesting to see what others think without being disrespectful or hateful like most of the sonic community when you don't like a Sonic game.

You are correct that Heroes is SA3 cuz it’s the third adventure formula game they made. In the same way that Colors is “Sonic Boost 2”

both 06 and heroes could be considered to technicly be part of the adventure gameplay era. just like how frontiers has some semplence of that gameplay style too. the free roaming and such. i guess in that case you can dismiss heroes as adventure 3 and replace it with either 06 or frontiers since u can actually free roam in those games lol.

I think i agree with most people in these comments that sonic 06 is adventure 3 Beyond just the tie ins with gameplay, despite sonic heroes and shadow the hedgehog both taking place in the timeframe you would expect Adventure 3 to be in in relation to SA2 06 has a much more adventure esc story Shadow handles its story as a single player campaign with branching routes, so the story doesnt feel like an adventure game and sure sonic heroes has an adventure style story system but the story doesnt connect in a way befitting of an adventure game 06 has stories that coincidence one another perfectly and make the ending of the game feel the same way it feels to reach perfect chaos or final hazard

Heroes is just so different from the SA games...it's like saying the Avatar from Forces is SA gameplay because he doesn't have a boost

I wasn't expecting a Doug Walker cameo, but I will say it's pretty cool, albeit remaining blissfully ignorant to forcing himself to continue making new episodes of Nostalgia Critic due to people loving the original show despite him originally wanting it to end after his magnum opus The Show Must Go On, which eventually led to series stagnation, but eh, I think he's a pretty cool guy.

It's incredible to see Sonic fans in their natural habit doing what they do best. Heroes is the third game that came out after 1 and 2. If you just count, putting them all together is practically harmless. Hell, all 3 are connected. Yet someway, the only thing they care about other than anything in the actual video. Is the game that doesn't exist with a title that's practically meaningless. Sega just puts titles on these games. The title hasn't really matter since S3K. It's just for branding. "Colours. Generations. Adventure" It's a name nobody in Sega cares about. Like. The guy isn't a rep for Sega. He's just talking about a trio of games he likes. They are intentionally related and work better together in conversation than appart. Yet they still feel the need to call him out like he's spreading misinformation. Hmm..🤔 well since Heroes is in a sense a soft-reboot/sequel because it was the first multi-platform game and they didn't want to call it SA3 to make new players have to play the first 2 to understand the story but it's still a follow-up with a simplistic story so you can look at it as SA2.5/Shadow would be SA2.8 and 06 as SA2.9 or consider it SA3 but until they actually call the game "Sonic Adventure 3" that's the closest we'll get 😂 I just think they're teasing and using it as a last resort if sonic is about to hit rock bottom because they have to find a way to make it better than anything before and make it perfect since there's a number in the title and ppl been asking for years now.

I am not big into Sonic. I don't dislike it, but I wouldn't call myself a fan either. I'm firmly in the camp of people that sometimes watch Sonic retrospectives and laugh at "haha Sonic bad" banter. But I ADORED Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. My brother brought it home one day and it ended up being one of my most played Gamecube games right beside Fire Emblem and Pokemon Colosseum/XD. I was awful at platforming and even worse at fast platforming, so I didn't care for the Sonic gameplay, but I spent SO much time farming ressources just to raise my Chao. I spent dozens of hours looking up stuff and writing about Chao on online boards. I was obsessed with them, much like I'm still obsessed with anything monstertaming/raising related. I even tried getting good enough to unlock the Tiny Chao Garden permanently in Sonic Advance 2 (the one other Sonic game I had). But I fell off the Sonic train the moment Chao weren't there anymore. I can't shake the feeling that's exactly the reason why there is no Chao Garden anymore and also why there's barely any playable characters beyond Sonic anymore. These "side modes" probably take a TON of time to potentially draw in an audience that would only stick around for as long as a significant portion of ressources goes into these side modes. I'd love to return to raising Chao and I've seriously contemplated getting SA2(B) on Steam just for that, but I don't see it ever coming back.

Just because a game is canon in a series doesn't make it "x numbered" installment. Sonic Heroes is irrefutably not "SA3". Being similar mechanically also does not automatically make it the super official sequel, for those that try to use reused formulas and canonicity together to form the immature argument of a game being "x numbered sequel". And yes this IS a big deal because this is an argument against people who are... blatantly going out of their way.... to call and refer to the game as something it's officially not even calling itself. The title change was done for a reason, respect it [Heroes, etc]. I kinda of have a contention with the title of the video too. Every single video game is flawed. Sonic is nowhere remotely near the only one. The best rated video games in all of history (including in the Mario, Metroid, Megaman, CoD, etc series) are and will continue to be flawed. If someone wants to foolishly challenge that idea in literally anyway, be it claiming x game has none or y game has virtually none, there will always be a sizeable group of people who can point out the flaws you overlooked or purposely ignored. So the point being these type of titles are utterly outdated and come across condescending (for lack of e better word), working off this faulty ideology that series like Sonic Adventure are flawed whereas say comparable Super Mario games are not. You could put literally ANY game in that title: _Super Mario 64/Pokemon Gold/Uncharted 2/Oocarina of Time/Breath of the Wild/etc is flawed (and that's okay)"_ . It's simply by definition a stupid premise. The insanely better and more accurate title would be something like "Sonic Adventure isn't as great/amazing as other games {which in terms of the game themselves I disagree with personally} (and that's okay)".

I'm literally paused, playing SA2. 06 is easily the 3rd Adventure styled game. Hub worlds, upgrades, multiple separate stories, one dramatic over arching story. (Rouge literally does her hunting from SA2.) The controls & level design are reminiscent of SA1, just bad. (Emerald Coast/ Wave Ocean. Whales) Heroes & Shadow are way different. People are just in denial because 06 was rushed out and bad. Clicking off now, your clickbait won't earn you watch retention. 🤗
