I absolutely LOVE the Sony A1!! I'm a Sony user all the way back to the 'OG' A7 btw, so I'm fully versed in the entire system, and used the A7RIV the last couple of years... After waiting 5 months(!!!) to even RENT on, I got a hold of one in May... and then rented again... After using the A1 (and A7SIII), I couldn't ever imagine going back to the much longer transfer/download speeds of earlier cameras, and eventually took the plunge...and SO GLAD i did!!
I have had my A1 for a few months now and i definitely agree that its basically the best hybrid photo/video camera out there. Personally I have been loving it for both professional work but also for making adventure content, since I only need the 1 camera for photo and video vs bringing 2 like i have done for some things in the past!
i use the Sony A1 now for about 4 Months and im really happy with the camera. I think the Point that Sony still made the Smallbody over a "Pro" Body is her best Feature, so i can use it with a Peak Design Clip as Everday Camera even when i go to Work with the Train without having a really big Load on me.
I have heard great things about that lens! I’m using the 14 1.8 for my ultra wide shots right now. I chose this lens because it’s super light, super sharp and has really low distortion.
My hiking landscape kit is the 14 1.8, 24-105 and either the tamron 70-80 or Sony 100-400 depending on the situation. I have a few others I might use in certain situations but these are my core kit.
It’s the Leofoto LS-223C. It’s great because it’s really small but has fantastic build quality. I’d definitely pack an L-bracket though, something I failed to do lol
are youu able to record an actual video while the camera buffer is still clearing from taking photos? I heard you are able to multi-task now.. On my a7iii I can't record whille my camera is stil lclearing buffer. please let me know! maybe it's only with the cfexpress type a cards.
I just tested it with very fast SD cards and it does not record video while the buffer clears. I think its very possible that either can with CFExpress or the buffer would clear fast enough that it wouldn't matter. The buffer in my test cleared in about 20 seconds with the SD cards.
It probably feels that way! I was a Sony shooter up until last summer when I decided to give the r5 a try… I ultimately didn’t jive with the r5 files for landscapes so I decided to try Nikon (I had used a z7 along with my old Sony gear). I really loved the files on Nikon but when we decided to go full time photo and video earlier this summer and I needed my camera for more than just landscapes we decided that Sony was the right system for us. I’m more than a little embarrassed about all the switching but felt I needed to be as straight forward with our followers as I could be.
