A fabulous video showing all the features and advantages (and some of the warts) of this camera. Although Sony is still selling them, it's a shame they seem to have given up on developing them further. Great work well done.

Hi my friend. Watching your new video was very entertainning, for me was the final touch I needed due I will buy this camera tomorrow Wednesday over here in Germany and your video has been this final information to be sure that I will invest in something as good as it gets! Something else I wanted to comment is, this video is great made, it looks like a real reportage with a great color and very funny, you are for me the very best out there. I thank you very much to help me to decide without worries about buying this camera! By the way, if later, I get dissapointed about it, I will send you the bill for you to pay at least, half of the price! OK? Hope you agree! Send you many greetings from over here, Alfredo.

Hi there. Yes, I may have mentioned in another video that more modern cameras had somewhat better stabilization but I think the RX10's is still more than acceptable! Thanks so much for the comment!

I know photographers who live near me with this camera and it really has a hard time in low light filming birds. In wide open scenes it is on par with my current Lumix FZ1000ii. The Lumix is 200mm/8x shorter but at the price point 1/2 price too. With the extra money saved on the Lumix I purchased 3 nice high end ND Filters, a sweet Polarizer, Intervolometer, UV filter and additional batteries, a nice tripod and camera case plus cleaning kit. Even still had $400 left over compared to the RX10 Mk4. Have to admit the Phase detect is super compared to the contrast detect on the FZ1000ii. However, I will pass on this camera and go for a Used Canon 7D Mkii for $600 at an online retailer as well as a Sigma FF/EF mount 160/600mm Sport lens all around the same price much better quality🎉🎉

I keep rooting for a new RX10! Would be the best travel camera ever made I would give up some zoom range or size for a larger M43 sensor. 10 bit 422 video would be great. Slightly wider lens at 20mm Color “film” simulations for jpeg shooting.

I’d love a new RX10 but if they’re going to make it bigger and heavier, there are so many other things I’d prefer (full weather sealing, fully manual zoom, larger EVF). I rarely need a larger sensor and even then, M43 is probably gaining at most a stop of light.

I just got this camera after previously owning a canon 5d mk 3 and using it on and off and selling it and dropping photography for years. 3 days in and it’s super fun so far. I was never into editing before, but the tools seem amazing now. I’m trying to choose an editing program but my head is spinning with the new denoise race updating constantly. Question is, should I pick a recent one and learn it? Or is there currently a clear winner that matches this camera’s capabilities? Super fun videos btw!

@techtoremember8096 Месяц назад
Hi there! Thanks for the comment. There are many choices for editing. There really are. If you have a Mac and starting out you can try Imovie or for more advanced use, Final Cut Pro. On a PC, many people use Adobe Premiere and like it although I personally prefer the Mac options!!

Great video, bud! I think I have seen all your videos about the RX10IV, and I love them all. Where I live, this camera costs a little bit more than an a6700 with a kit lens, so I am still struggling with which camera to get for travel. I think the answer is clearly the RX10IV, but my brain can't deal with the decision of leaving all those new features and the bigger sensor of the a6700 for an almost 7-year-old camera. I am still amazed when you compared this one with the Alpha 1 because in most cases, I can't really tell the difference. I really hope to see more of the RX10IV. You are one of the few that still produce content about this camera, so please don't stop! I am already a fan. If you can share a couple of raw images with us (not personal, of course) in the next one, so we can see them on the computer, that would be great. Thanks again. I love your videos - very practical and down to earth.

Wow thanks so much for your very kind words! Believe me I know what you mean about buying an older camera. One thing I can tell you is when I was away and using it, i didn't feel like I was using outdated technology. The camera is fast and snappy and for the most part I was happy with how it handled the varied shooting situations. And you mentioned comparing to a 6700 which is interesting. I don't know if you remember the scene in the video with the squirrels poking their heads out of the submarine. If I had to reach for my mirrorless camera and then attach a zoom lens I probably would have missed that moment. Having all focal lengths always on the lens is so important I realized because sometimes things happen fast and changing lenses ,you can miss that moment! you can also introduce other issues like dust on your sensor. That's an interesting idea about uploading photos I will consider that in the future. Thank you again my friend! Regards,
@leemarkowitz4709
@leemarkowitz4709 9 дней назад
Will you miss more shots because the older tech of the RX10 held you back or because you had the wrong lens for the moment on the a6700? Also, once you do the firmware update, you could think of the RX10 as more like a 2019 camera.
@nervocalm
@nervocalm 9 дней назад
@@leemarkowitz4709 Hi bud! I have to confess something... The close price of the 6700 against an "older" camera like RX10IV isn't the only reason that was holding me back. I think the reason that weighted more was that I currently own a Lumix Fz200, and for all the intents and purposes it's the even older equivalent to the RX10IV, so I understand when you guys talk about the versatility and the peace of mind that gives you to concentrate only in the picture you want to take and not worrying about if you have the correct lens or thinking ahead where you are going to be and what lens you are going to need, etc. So, when you combine both, the close prices of the 6700 and having the "travel camera" need covered by the fz200, I was struggling to spend 2000 usd in the RX10IV. But if you noticed, I said "was" because I received my RX10IV a few days ago!! (This is also your fault www.youtube.com/@techtoremember8096 friend! ) 🙂 I still learning the particularities of it but so far I couldn't been happier about that decision. There will be time for me to get a newer camera if I really want it or need it. Thanks for remind me about the firmware! I was thinking about that when I ordered it and then I received it and started to play with it and forgot.

I love your videos, especially the memes and puns you add in between. I am a novice planespotter currently recording video on a samsung s22 ultra with 10x optical zoom. I was wondering if RX10 iv would be a right choice for me? FYI, I have no experience in post processing. Also, are the pictures in the houston video straight out of the camera or was there post processing involved? I really like RX10 iv, but was wondering if i need too much of post processing to make pictures look good. Any inputs will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Amazing work! 👏
@techtoremember8096
@techtoremember8096 23 дня назад
Hi! Thanks so much for the comment and especially for getting the corny jokes! To answer your question, I did not do any post processing to any photos. All the photos were shot in the highest quality JPEG. I do make some minor tweaks in camera to sharpness and contrast in the menu (upping each one about l level) just for a little more punch to the picture, but no editing at all afterwards as I want everyone to see how the camera produces images straight from camera. I have heard from many people who do planespotting who use this camera as its long zoom and fast lens, makes it great for that application. Great choice for that purpose. Thanks again!

Thanks for the video! I just bought an RX10 M4 with hopes of photographing the August 2026 eclipse in Europe. It looks like you were hand-holding the camera when the sun went into totality, and yet the focus and exposure are excellent. I was in Indiana with a Nikon D100 attached to my Refactor telescope, and it was quite challenging to get the shots. Did you, in fact, hand-hold during totality? If so, what did you have the camera set to? Thanks in advance.
@techtoremember8096
@techtoremember8096 12 дней назад
Hi there! yes, I was hand holding it, more like fumbling as it was nerve wracking. I had literally everything set to auto as I recall except the focus which was manual and set to infinity naturally. The camera did a good job of exposing properly. I think shooting through a telescope definitely will be a bit more challenging! ( i hand held both eclipses by the way, not sure if you saw the second one in the video with the Panasonic GH5) Thanks for the comment!!
@jeffreythornton2675
@jeffreythornton2675 12 дней назад
@@techtoremember8096 Thanks for the super fast response. With my setup, I had a laptop computer attached to the Nikon that was controlling the shutter speeds as the eclipse progressed. The program even had voice prompts to remove and reinstall the filter at the correct times. The hardest thing was the focus. But thankfully, there was a huge sunspot almost in the center of the sun that helped with this. My next purchase for this camera will be a 72mm solar filter and an old school cable release. I used to have a couple back in the 35mm film days, but that equipment is long gone.

Have you used the mark 3 version of this camera at all, and if so how did it compare? I really want either the 3 or 4, but the 4 is just far too expensive for me, even used they are close to or exceeding £1000. The mark 3's are still very expensive too, but if I can find one for around £600 I'll probably go for it. I have a panasonic FZ2000 but I think I'm going to return it, viewing the images on a PC they just aren't as sharp as I expected which is a shame because it's so nice to use.
@techtoremember8096
@techtoremember8096 3 дня назад
I haven't used the Mark 3 but its very very similar to the Mark 4. Same lens but the AF is a bit slower and a few other minor issues in video I believe. I think you would be fine with the Mark 3 if you could find it at a good price

Downtown Houston is not really much of a “street photography” venue, spread out and underpopulated, (most use the labyrinth tunnel system especially during the summer as you mentioned ). Ditto for most of the metros in Texas, save for maybe Austin.

@@Corbrwl You're allowed to say regardless…Houston is simply not a city for Street Photography, neither are most cities in Texas, no shame in that. San Jacinto, eh…yeah, I guess. I would suggest Galveston, definitely much more activity than Downtown Houston.
