Should I Sell My Sony Rx10iv now i have the Sony A6700?

Gosh, the title was a little bit of a shock...with all your history on the RX10IV! Anyway, glad you are keeping it for the moment. It had occurred to me to sell mine when I got my A7IV, but its lovely to have something with such versatility in reserve. Also, nice one for other family members should they want something for any adventure travel. The A6700 looks fun.

I could not agree more, will be keeping my RX10iv as well but look forward to A6700 arriving today.

I don't understand why Sony never made a successor to this camera, it's obviously a popular camera ?????

I love your channel and it helped me immensely when I got my MK3 and was setting it up. That said, I did sell my MK3 when I got my a6700, because the main reason I got the a6700 was for the improved AF and tracking. If I’d had the MK4, it would have been a tough call. Keep up the amazing work!

Makes sense to me (to hold on to it), at least for now. I found some of the video shots a bit jumpy, but that was you moving and recording (always tough). Always nice to simply have all you need in one camera. Absolutely love that monochrome photo! Be interesting to see your views once you have walked around a bit with the 6700 and maybe a mid range zoom…you may miss the odd longer shot but those are likely few unless something planned for.

Having lugged two and sometimes three SLRs about in the film era in order to have the right lens for the job readily available I'm in no hurry to return to that sort of arrangement. It makes for a good walk spoiled. So the RX10 is a keeper whatever else I might get.

Thanks Stuart, I’ve just bought a used one ( ‘Like New’, from MBP) and I’m excited to be using something which is very widely respected as a quality camera. Some of your YT content has been instrumental in my choice. Any larger sensor camera brings much higher cost for similar zoom length, and multiple lenses bring conveyance issues, and a choice whether to swap lenses… it’s a quandary of choice isn’t it? The old saying is you can have any of a choice of 3 - quality, features and price! Best of luck with your choice of ‘go to’ camera for the future, but I’m totally happy with my 2024 purchase of the RX10 iv.

My best case use of this camera is for travel. I took mine on safari in June to Zambia and was happy with it. I can't imagine messing around and traveling with a full kit of (much much larger) interchangeable lenses plus a camera body. The 6700 at 1500 bucks is tempting, but I'd also have to buy 3 or 4 grand worth of lenses. If I was a pro, I might well feel different, but for now, I'm gonna keep mine.

Hi Stuart I have this camera and I thought the same thing but there is no chance I am going to sell it. Looking at Sony’s lenses that have this range it’s a no brainer. Keep it. But I do feel if you put a photo into a comp when the so called judges look in to the photo data they say poor image and camera. They are not clever enough to say great photo no matter what camera or settings you use.

Hi Stuart, I have watched a number of your video, which I enjoy very much, So thanks for sharing. I am helping my Son with his video filming and really considering the RX10 IV or a newer camera. I really like the look of the tech and the 'all-in-one' nature of the RX10, but it still costs so much given how old it is now. I keep looking for rumors about a RX10 'V' but it seems thats has been discussed for well over a year and not likely to surface. So, I would like your view on this. I would use the camer for doing 4K video for 75% of the time and photos the other 25%. I need a good zoom lens, but I dont want to purchase lots of lenses, if that makes sense. I would not be a hard core photographer, but keen to try and find the right camera. 2nd Question, I picked up the comment you made about the 6400 ISO and then using software for post 'de-noising'. What do you use for that? Thanks very much, keep up the videos.

Considered selling mine with all my other gear but then i thought what else can give me good image quality, 600mm that i can literally take anywhere in a small bag??

Love the channel! question, I am Heading to the UK, Alaska and Galapagos soon. I am looking at the rx10iv or the a6400/6700 with either the 70-350 Sony lens or the Tamron 18-300. Video is nice but pictures are my priority. If you had to choose between the RX and the A6x00 which would you go with?

NOOOOOO, Never sell (unless they release Mark V) LoL. I love mine..Even though i have a6700 and its the new toy, i still grab my RX10 whenever i go.

I still have and use my RX10 M4 as my main camera. This is the camera I used the most in my life. This is the most complete camera out there for photography... You can do almost every style of photography with it. When I show my pictures, people cant believe I am using a 1" sensor camera.

Stuart, is the ApSC images from the a6700 much better than the 1 inch RX10iv ?? In lower light especially…..I’ve been told there’s little improvement in image quality ??

i was on the hunt for my first camera for years, but never wanted to spend money on it, but the situation came that i got a new job offer in my company where i earn double the money as befor, so i switched from wanting to buy an rx10iv to really buying an a7iv with sigma 85 1.4 and sigma 24-70 2.8 and i dont regret it, its just beautiful to take such good looking pictures, i mean its by far not as versatile as the rx10iv but it makes me feel more like a real photographer and i am now capeable of buying really good lenses for it without hesitation, befor it was just to expensive and i would have gone with the rx10iv

The a6700 rear LCD is a pain in the backside. Yes for vlogging it’s good but literally for everything else it’s rubbish. Having to reach over, pull out, twist, re-align and then you have to look left away from the axis of the lens when shooting. Then you have to repeat all the above backwards to put it away, unless you fancy leaving it sticking out like a sore thumb. The tilt is fast, inconspicuous and doesn’t nearly double the width of the camera. Keeping the RX10IV for this alone is a no brainier.

If you do sell it, what would you possibly replace it with? I would think this would be almost the perfect walk around run and gun camera on city streets or nature hikes in the wilderness. Your zooming in on the birds in flight really showed me something. I have a Nikon B700 and if I tried that the birds would be hopelessly out of focus and even if I did try to refocus, it would still never be a clean image. The RX10 is compact, relatively light, no extra lenses to lug around, decent IQ in both video and stills. I don't have it but if I did I'd have a strangle hold on it.

I hope RX10V can start at 20mm and extend to very far too with great macro and come with the latest Exmor T sensor! If you want to use 20-70mm F4 and 70-200mm F4 your your personal hobbyist use, would you pair with A7CR or A7RV? Does thwe smaller size of A7CR provide any benefit with these lenses or actually give less desirable experience? Will Sony make RX10V and do you guys think that will be enough and better?

I cannot imagine why you ever contemplated selling the camera. The lens alone warrants no argument, the coatings on the lens are superlative and contribute handsomely to the final image quality, all editions of the RX 10 series are desirable options for the discerning photographer. I am not at all surprised Sony only released four variants of the camera, they are the definitive statements on bridge camera excellence.

Hi Stuart i found this video very useful. After a six hour trawl around London zoo, carrying my RX10, I felt very tired, and started to feel its weight around my neck. Also because of age and mobility I’m restricted to where i go to shoot now. I subsequently got to thinking, maybe if i get the DJI mini 3 pro i can go places and get shots that i would have got when a bit younger. I then looked at trading the RX10 in for the drone, all would be fine financially and all i needed to do was make the decision. I will add that i do have a canon G1X mk3 so i would still have a camera. All that you said on the video, i of course know, and it served to reinforce the inner feelings i had at the possible loss i would feel if i went ahead with it. Thanks for your help as always, verdict it stays in my bag.

It is odd that no one has made an oval/tear-drop eye-cup. Tried a Canon 90D last year, lovely camera but hated the noise.

I have a to say, I'm really impressed with the built-in audio recording quality of the RX10 iV. It's loud and clear and picks up a lot of detail. This was my first video taken earlier this week. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-C8bfyPk7Xu8.html&si=OBMZLIMlR8QbCxO5 I should explain that this was really hard (impossible for me) to keep the bird tightly in frame whilst drifting past in my kayak and zoomed in to the max. Still, not bad though. 😊

I just dropped off my RX10 4 at UPS sending it back today after just over two weeks of having it. For video the 4k quality looks good by itself but when mixed in with other cameras its very poor looking. I can not not mix it in with well. I also have the a6700 and like it a lot. When shooting some with the RX I see for my use I dont need the 600m end that much so I picked up a Tamron 18-300 that will be here Friday. That will cover me for my use and for a lower cost and smaller then say the Sony 70-350. I will be buying a second a6700 when I get my refund back if I can find one in stock someplace. I liked the RX but even the photo quality was just up to my other cameras just ok. So for not much more of the cost of the RX I will have a second a6700 and the 18-300 this gives 450mm on cropped.
