@@nabilhakim8691 yup it's a great feeling to be different. I currently have my Sony Xperia 10 Plus and my coworkers with iPhones and Samsungs were amazed and curious about it when I showed them a few months ago
Sony did the side-mounted fingerprint for a while, so it felt weird to hear "some of them are doing the side one, Sony is doing the same" when I actually associate this concept with Sony haha
Due to Apple's patent in the USA they couldn't and still cannot implement their power button and fingerprint sensor as a single button on the side.. Apple patented the technology right after Sony announced a practical model in Japan. That's why now you have separate buttons for both power as well as FP.
@@vinaykumartn5573 why doesn't Sony integrate the fingerprint sensor with a dedicated shortcut button ( and patent it), that might be more useful and would be a great middle finger to the Apple patent application bot
@@vinaykumartn5573 Interesting, after your reply I read a little more about it online. I even found out that some models actually were built with the fingerprint sensor but they locked in the US like the Xperia XZ, you had to flash them to activate it. Damn.
Just support their products. But they need to drop prices - that's for sure. Keeping high prices at low-interest points always ends badly. And the companies always repeat that mistake.
I have used the Xperia E3, Xperia M4 Aqua, and now the Xperia XZ1. I must say that I dont feel like using no other phone other than the Xperias. Theres something soo unique that keeps me glued to them. The Xperias.
I agree, I got the Xperia E my first smartphone in 2013, then the XZ, I switched last year to a Zenfone 5z but I miss my Xperia, I bought a Xz3 and I really love it.

Sony started the whole portable electronics scene with the walkman back in the 70s' and from then on out, you didn't have a portable cassette player, you had a walkman, in the same way you didn't have a vacuum cleaner you had a Hoover. Sony deserves Utter Respect! :)
Back in the 70's thru the 90's yes for sure Sony's brand was top tier, especially their WETA TV's. Those 32" totally flat CRT's (look it up youngsters) where monsters. There was no competition in that price point. But now days Sony's brand has been smashed by Samsung and LG.
He has not mentioned RAW FORMAT noise reduction, your Samsung crap phones don't have that. Sony Bravia eye focusing, Ten shot a second burst mode and that is just to start. Sometimes I think you lot are PAID Samsung AstroTurfer :d
Starting up from Sony (cellphone then smartphone), tried an iPhone (for the camera and iTunes), get an OnePlus (admittedly hype), switched to Samsung (great specs on paper), and finally... coming back home for Sony.

I got rid of my S10 once I have tried this beast. On that moment I remembered that we live in a world of propaganda. I had never seen a review that would convinced me to buy the Xperia 1. I had to try it by myself to know it. Don't let this RU-vid guys take decisions for you. They all get paid at the end of the day to tell what they have been told to do.
Do you think the new version of this phone (Xperia 1 II ) would last for at least 3-4 years? In term of longevity like Apple does. Because I am using Galaxy s8 now and wanna change it (I got it in December 2017). I was thinking about iPhone 11 because of the longevity and it doesn't start freezing after a year and half like my S8. Also S8 doesn't work with instagram. You take video for instagram story, it looks like it was taken with a damn calculator lol. What are your general thoughts about the phone? Pros, cons? Thank you very much in advance!!

i had the sony xperia z2. a perfect smartphone. now i use iphone because i realized that the software is the best thing ever happened to me. ios is the way to go. other companies must create their own OS for me to switch from iphone. its the perfect optimalization and constant updates and ios upgrades every year which makes the iphone feel brand new once again
@@Albanez39 I used them and there is nothing inovative about the Xperia 1 Wow it has bigger aspect ratio?? Wow, something no one alive wanted Please fuck of, this is a barely mediocre flagship at best The better question here is have you used actually good phones, because Sony hasn't made a single good one in 3 years
I loved all my Sony phones. Right from walkman series to the original Xperia Z. But after that i felt like they need to step up their game again. Good to see them back.
I have different feelings for Sony mobiles. Last time I loved one was a Sony Ericcson, before smartphones, that had really good music capabilities for the time. I had a Sony Xperia something 5 years back or so. Admittedly it was a budget phone, but still. The camera was amazing, but it had a tiny memory even for its time, and wouldnt allow installing apps on SD, so it was effectively a coffee cup holder with a good camera. Ten apps and it was full. Completely useless.
S7 edge user here my phone is the last one before Samsung went Insane and the only problem was the curved screen. Now we have Bixby buttons and no regular buttons the headphone jack is gone they changed the shape of the usb port for some reason and probably something else I'm missing
Sony never left. Had my XZ premium 2 years now and still slick as when it came out the box and getting a real 6-8 SOT on a full battery regularly. Not as many gimmicks as maybe Samsung but solid build quality and longevity. Great to finally see Sony get some recognition from bigger youtubers.
@@jlue1993 How does Samsung have gimmicks? When the Xperia has a 4k display which is a gimmick the human eye can not pick that up on a 5 or 6 inch screen.
That side mounted fingerprint reader has been with Sony for a few years now. This is nothing new, if the YT community pays any attention, they would know Sony has been pioneering things from waterproofing to fingerprints and cameras for all the manufacturers for a well over than half a decade now.
@@kapilbusawah7169 Kinda It's a patent by Philips that wasn't really aimed at phones that's causing the problem. But their phones are the only side mounted power + fps on the market
I actually really respect what Sony does with their phones. I’m not an android user but their phones have ALWAYS attracted me for some reason. Glad to see they’re still in this market with awesome stuff like this.
I only had two problems with xperia devices. 1 is the wi-fi problem WHICH happens even on their modern devices. 2. is their camera that they're restricting because it might hurt their camera department(which i doubt). Other than that, Xperias are beasts, I'm still using xperia z2 back from 2014. Still fast af with no lags (just heat and short battery life since 28nm chipset)
@@Miro. I kind of agree. Sony are last to the party when it came to shooting in RAW. Apparently the Xperia 1 is the first.. Never made sense to me that other phones had the ability, yet they used SONY sensors. Why deliberately shoot yourself in the foot like this? I know RAW is more for professionals, but SONY have always hyped their cameras on their phones. And let's be honest, they don't have the best image processing by a long shot. I came to the conclusion that SONY are only interested in selling their image sensors.
Sony has been making 4K display since 2016 in its Xperia phones. But this is the world's first 4K display phone with OLED. Pretty impressive and highly underrated in my opinion.
I've been using the Xperia z2 I'm writing from for the past 4 and a half years, and never got a problem. I only changed the battery after 4 years because it didn't last a full day anymore, but besides that it's the most reliable phone I've ever had
Xperia series has been the most underrated phone for the last 5 years, solid phones without throwing in all the useless "buzzword" trends and bragging about it.
There was once when Sony made solid phones like the Xperia Z and Z1. Then Sony made its downfall when the Z3 and Z5 devices launched. Until now Sony came back again.
Bullshit.I had the Xperia M4 Aqua, great phone but terrible storage management, and while the design was ahead of its era,the build quality was so low it couldnt protect the internals...
I've had my Sony Xperia Z2 for almost 5 years now and it still works incredibly well! Sure it's a little behind on technology, but it's still super usable, and the camera quality is still respectable. Sony is quite underrated in the smartphone game.
The only problems with like a Z3 is the fact it's glass back, glass front and really hard to swap the battery (+ the flap that makes your USB port and SD & SIM card slot waterproof becomes loose) But otherwise? it's a really nice phone.
I had the z3v and unfortunately It slid off my car and completely shattered. I got an xperia xz premium, loved the 4k display, and now my xperia one is shipping next week. Once an xperia fan, always a fan. Sony makes great devices
@@SpencersStuffTV Back when iPhone 5 was still a fresh thing, i actually replaced it with an Z3 Compact because i needed the tougher type of phone for a while and afterwards even though it served me well i sold it to replace it with a really, really cheap Galaxy S6, well, my operator effed me over with that S6 and didn't get me one so i had to take a Galaxy A3 (same price, you can get why i went for the S6, oh and S8 was like just announced and not even out yet at that point so S6 was really, really good value for that 200 or so bucks converted) But yeah, the worst part about the A3 was the fact it's camera broke from unknown reason, all i know is that the top glass was shattered and that i had to change it, replaced it with a Moto C Plus. Even though i've had an iPhone and a Samsung and a Moto, i still somehow feel that i should get an Sony but they're always either way too high in price or don't give a perfect value for what it is, granted there was XZ3 for half the price just now on sale but... yeah. From all my experiences, i'd say that a Moto is perfect budget phone, reputable brand, decent quality and all-around just works and you usually can get them with good sales so you can even get a 400 phone for 100 or less. Meanwhile, an iPhone is like a really easy to use simplified phone that just works, it's expensive AF but you pay for the ecosystem and usability comfort. Samsung (Galaxy more precisely) is pretty much the iPhone of Android, a flagship type of phone that usually mixes multiple good things into one but shows that the fact you have everything or almost everything means it will cost a lot of money or you will lose in other things like battery capacity and such, also the software is very heavy to run. However, even though those three are basically best of their worlds, what is Sony on the other hand? well, they have just as good internals as the other flagships and Sony is well known for their Audio, Camera and Screen technologies which are probably nearly the best you can get in same package, the fact why Oneplus 7 Pro for example is technically "better" at marketing is the branding and the fact they use the great cameras that are MADE by Sony, so basically all that Sony is left with is their great screen. I think it was Austin who started to state that the only thing that you pay for/get in a higher grade phone nowadays is a better camera and that technically is true.
I have a Sony Walkman. I don't know the name of the model but it's the one Star-Lord (Peter Quill) has in Guardians of The Galaxy and Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.2
Sony's problem along with HTC is they don't put these phones on carrier subsidies anymore. If they would offer these phones through carriers again, I think it would be a great contender.
My Sony Xperia XZ Premium has a higher pixel density 807 ppi. Me being a Sony user, so weird all the functions that i'm already familiar with that Lew isn't.
Either he forgot he never used a sony phone or what those looked like since there was never a phone frok sony, worth his attention or he just straight up lying that he knows what sony phones are like!
It actually is. I'm actually multi tasking a bunch on this phone, whilst I rarely did on my Note 9. I'm really happy I got this, though I do miss the spen at times.
The reason for the separate fingerprint scanner/power button implementation is due to a US patent that previously prevented Sony from having the fingerprint scanner enabled on their integrated power button/fingerprint scanning units on their Xperia lineup (such as the XZ1) in the US only. Sony changed to having the scanner on the back with the XZ2 and XZ3 before reverting slightly and making a compromise for the US market with the seperate implementation now found on the Xperia 10 and 1.
And the ironic thing about this is that the patent is owned by Apple. They don't even use fingerprint scanners anymore! Why would they own this patent? To scrutinize the others who actually want to make side-mounted fingerprint scanners?
GoldenRetroGaming Gaming Memes patents last for years and years regardless of whether you use the design or not. And deliberately holding on to a patent makes sense if you want to be prepared to use it again.
Sometimes Sony falls under the radar but they're so unbelievably reliable. They hardly slow after years of heavy use in my experience. Unfortunate that they don't get as much attention as they've also pioneered many incredible features. 4k screens, waterproofing etc. If im not wrong they were the first to do so.
Sony has the best screens.... No other phone can beat it.. Once you watch videos on a Sony phone..and then switch to another brand, you feel the difference a lot. Everything in Sony is about *Quality*,the screen, the icons, the letters, the pixels, resolution...everything . That's why when a person uses a Sony phone, will not change to another brand.
