This is true, verified by Federico Castelluccio on a podcast I saw during COVID. He was a neighbor in New Jersey and Federico got him the part.

It reminds me of Rob Wiethoff. He is an established actor now but back then, just a regular guy who got into gaming industry and flourished after that.

In my mind I always viewed it that Carmella regretted telling Tony about her feelings for Furio, but in the moment she was desperate for Tony to understand what she had always felt about Tony's affairs.

It's why Furio had to take action. He kills Tony and faces the fallout (I doubt he lives long with plenty of people gunning for him to avenge killing a boss and get some legitimacy points) or bails out. If he commited they would be caught sooner or later, someone would spot them or Tony would find out on his own, he's dysfunctional, but not stupid. Or Carmella would flap her tongue and let it slip.
