i really like your analysis about how the music is able to capture both the more hectic and the more more melancholic notes over the course of the show. that's something i wanted to bring up about the pillow's work as a whole, but I couldn't really figure out how to fit it in. FLCL is so cool, god. nice video like always!
While the pillows did have contribution to the anime, it isn't like they chose the songs themselves (except for Ride On Shooting Star). Or directed how the songs would play for each scene. Tsurumaki also had contribution to the sound of FLCL too. It was co-written effort by both of them. The way how the songs were chosen, edited, and even redone (Advice) was all of Tsurumaki's contributions.
I’d call FLCL a perfect show, not because it’s the best example that others should follow, but because it’s perfect the way it is. I wouldn’t change a single aspect of it, everything works together so well and the Pillows music is a huge part of that. I actually spent a lot of time in quarantine working on a FLCL fan project, listening to the soundtrack most of the time and there’s not a single track on there that doesn’t slap.
@@HizzyHay If you didn’t know the FLCL King of Pirates Album contains official audio dramas recorded by the Japanese voice actors between tracks. I managed to find some written translations of the dialogue in English, but there wasn’t any videos that had the audio and english subtitles, so that’s where the project started. Then I decided I wanted visuals to match what was happening to the characters, then I decided I wanted to present the whole thing like a lost DVD extra and it snowballed into a whole bigger project. Anyway, it was my first real attempt at editing video and I learned a lot from it. Here’s the link if you feel like checking it out; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-20HSKJokzoM.html
