The Sound of Music did change cinema, sort of. It made an absolute fortune and helped spawn a number of big budget musicals (Star!, Hello Dolly, Dr Doolittle among others) that flopped at the box office. Some nearly sank big studios. The New Hollywood films in the late '60s and early 70's were in part a reaction to this trend.
@@davemathews7890 The joke is that, if this version of the Sound of the Music existed (a musical with guns and combat), it would have theoretically shaken the Hollywood industry and probably caused a strange world of happy musicals with carnage.
Michael Bay said in an interview that this movie, and this specific scene, is what inspired him to become a director. "How do you solve a problem like Maria? By dual wielding, of course."
I kinda wanna go back in time and splice this scene into the movie and then when the screening is done take the reel away so that for years and years people will talk about how one audience and one audience only saw Maria Von Trapp shoot a bunch of dudes as nonchalantly as possible, refuse to elaborate, and just act like it never happened for the rest of the movie.
You shall become a legend among legends Although no joke, there’s a scene in The Shining that’s kinda similar. It was incorporated into the movie during the first few days of the run in theaters but was actually taken out, which had people seeing the movie a second time questioning their sanity.
It was a fine spring morn’ in the Austrian hills just outside Salzburg. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and the Edelweiss was in full bloom…until Maria brought the boom.
would be funnier if she was shooting blasters from star wars and hitting storm troopers cause then you'd be like damn she's not even trying and has better accuracy them a storm trooper🤣🤣🤣
Not necessarily. The Vietnam War was won by the soldiers...but then deliberately lost by the evil Left on the home front. The Viet Cong generals said they were defeated after the Tet Offensive, and were STUNNED when we withdrew for no reason.
@@duckduckgoismuchbetter What? Also, the response to the Vietnam War was because America wasn’t ‘saving’ anybody. Way more civilians died because of napalm than commies. Ho Chi Minh was also involved in the overthrow of Pol Pot, who was 10x worse but America didn’t care about Cambodia. Nixon was even friendly with Mao, and China was the one primarily funding Pol Pot.
I showed this to my 64 year old grandmother when I stopped by real quick to bring her groceries, and she was so entertained she had me roll up a blunt while she baked a pecan pie, and posted up at her fire pit and made me feel like kid again. Thank you!!!
I heard a story about the Vietnam war where these guys would have their FOB attacked with mortars everyday like clockwork A soldier who liked to provide morale for his guys would hop out and dance and sing right before the attacks His biggest hit was "the hills are alive with the sound of mortars" I will always remember that story
On a somewhat related point, while the Von Trapp family was triumphantly climbing every mountain to safety to the applause of movie audiences everywhere, what happened to the nuns at the abbey who had been sheltering them? Their complicity in harboring the Von Trapps must have been obvious to the Nazis. Did they perish from weapons similar to the ones that Julie Andrews is wielding here?
@@harleyking88 Good point, Harley. Maybe Putin could learn from The Sound of Music story; the way to beat neo Nazis is with song & music. Fortunately, there are no neo Nazis controlling Ukraine & thankfully, we don't have to hear Putin sing!
@@Kiwibikerbuddy you have to be kidding. The battalion of Azov is explicitly nazi and tags communist, syndicalist and colored people in Ukraine very before Putin had arrived. Guess what: Zelesky congrats them. But quite frankly,I don't even believe that Putin is doing this all to free Ukraine from those people.
okay fr thought the editing on this is so clean and well done?? the way the guns are coloured feel like they could be part of the actual footage and i love it- also this has the main plus of being really damn funny
