This song is evoking a futuristic fantasy space opera, and not because of the Holst inspiration. The instrumentation at the beginning invokes dancing among the stars in my eyes. As soon as the singing starts it morphs into a dissonant longing, like someone looking through a port hole at the cosmos around remembering what has been lost. Wars on a cosmic scale, angelic voices calling ones soul home, embraces of a loved one, victory in war, remembering all who were lost. That is the entire story that has just gone through my head listening to this. I do know what the original song is about, but this arrangement evokes this story in my minds eye. Lovely. Absolutely lovely. Thank you.

Cody, Holy shit. I saw you premiere this with the SLSO and I was brought to tears then, now sitting on the couch with my favorite headphones just appalled by the the stunning mixing and production to highlight your insanely delicate and elegant writing??? Full stop, full sobs. Music like this has no boundaries, because you, sir, have broken them all down. This piece speaks. It's not only because of how powerful the song itself originally was, but now because of how you've presented it. The wind, the way the violin sings, the way you've mastered that tritonal modulation!! It took my breath away and in it's place was this beautiful echo of this piece. Seriously this has to be one of the best pieces of music you have ever covered. Thank you.

Your compositions always give me chills and evoke such potent emotions 🤯 Quick Story: My (now) wife knew that I loved your music and wanted to surprise me for our wedding last year. And we (as well as the bridesmaids & groomsmen) picked songs for the wedding several days before 🎼 Day of the wedding comes around, and we're enjoying ourselves. I'm nervous, of course, because who isn't on their wedding day? 😬 Everyone makes (some danced) it down the aisle to various songs and then we awaited my wife for what felt like a good minute 😅 I barely hear the first TWO or THREE notes of "Photograph" and am immediately sobbing. I could only just see her, blurred through my tears, walking down the aisle 😭 Luckily I managed not to cry the entire rest of the ceremony, just alot of it 😂

Thank you so much for making this, Cody Fry! I became a huge fan of yours over three years ago, and I’ve fallen in love with your compositions. Seriously, you’re wonderful!! This mightttt just be your best one yet, but I’m biased because Simon and Garfunkel are some of my favorites ever!! I had the pleasure of seeing one of your shows in Charlotte last year, and it entirely changed my life. I have always been a HUGE fan of orchestral music, but I thought I’d never be able to make something of my love because I didn’t know anything about music, nor did I play any instruments. After hearing you talk on stage, learning that you sort of got into music later in life, it really inspired me. I, too, would be willing to play the triangle in the back of the room if it meant I was surrounded by a sea of talent. My partner is a musician (and a music teacher in the making!!) and she’s been trying to teach me more about music. Watching these videos (of which I’ve seen all you’ve made thus far) has helped me understand more and more… I mean hey, now I know more about tritone modulation which is cool (definitely going to impress my partner with this knowledge later)!!! Anyway, all of that to say, I appreciate what you’re doing. You give me just the slightest sliver of hope that I could create something really really cool one day. I love the way your brain works, and the care you put into each musical decision is incredible. You’re going to go down as one of the greats, and I appreciate all you do to inspire younger minds to pursue the joy that music can bring. You’re definitely one of the reasons I now have a hunger to learn more. Keep doing all you do, dude, you’re awesome!!!

If I had to describe this I would say that it is a masterfully orchestrated murder of a classic. An inharmonious unsettling audio atrocity committed upon what was originally a piece of music that brought peace to tempestuous minds. Discordant and disquieting, it feels like the theme song for a serial killer.
