San Diego, California's the Source -- fronted by Richard Bowen on lead vocals, Robert Gilly on keyboards, and a rhythm section of Danny Heald and Harold Finch, Jr. -- entered the studios of American International Records with producer Harley Hatcher. Together, they recorded the album equivalent of eight songs.
While "Yesterday Is Gone" b/w "Phantom in the Rain" were issued as a standalone single in March 1970, the remaining six songs comprised the A-Side of the film soundtrack to American International Pictures' 1970 release, "A Bullet for Pretty Boy," starring Fabian Forte as the infamous, 1930s U.S. gangster, Charles Arthur "Pretty Boy" Floyd. "It's Me I'm Running From" b/w "Gone Tomorrow" were released as a single in July 1970 to promote the film.
Richard Bowen recorded a non-orchestrated version of "Phantom in the Rain" for the film soundtrack of Larry Buchanan's "What If" Jim Morrison film, "Down on Us," issued in 1984. The film was reissued to home video in 1989 as "Beyond the Doors."
