The original words are of Sanskrit language which end with 'a' eg the name of MahaRaja Dashrata's was made up of 2 syllables namely 'Ra' and 'Ma' resulting in 'RaMa'. It's all about the syllables in Sanskrit language.

Dear Brother you are wrong.As per Samskrutam or Sanskrit its correct.Rama is the correct word not Ram.Ramayana is the correct word noy Raamayan. Veda is the correct word.Not a Ved. Hindi is not a single language.Out of many dialects in north India like Kharaboli or Mythili etc Hindi was a given name by Mughals and later the British. Can you say Pit instead of pita.Mat instead of Maata. Hindi people are using words wrongly due to English translation of the Deva Naagari Script.Initially it was Braahmi Script.Finally degenerated paali and praakrut.
