This isn't a remake, it's historical revisionism. This version is meant to replace the 2008 movie, which will one day vanish from servers. And we will have never existed.
It's not a remake, it's a seperate adaptation of the books, as it says in huge letters in the trailer "Based on the books" because that movie was a terrible adaptation.
This looks cool but I wish they'd left the reveal that Christian Slater is the bad guy out of the trailer. I haven't read the books so it would have been a twist for me
@@wintersage6895yeah I am a little weirded out that they have to assemble the guide. I will say, I am happy to see the fencing ACTUALLY BE fencing and not "female badass lead slashing tree badassly" because those books got me into fencing
❤I can understand remake of certain movies, but I will not comment until I see it. I loved the original I even have rewatched the original several times, watching the trailer shows some different scenarios, so I’ll watch to see what happens. In a way it this might have been more appreciated if it went in a different direction or if it had of started from the beginning showing how Mr. Spiderwick was introduced to the different creatures of the forest & how or why he left his daughter. Just saying some movies do alright on remakes, but some should never be remade, or have a part 2 or 3. 🙏🏾🥰🙏🏾🥰🙏🏾🥰🙏🏾
They tryna make everything black man. If it was a Tv show maybe I could invest my time in hopefully it’s not a shit movie but I loved tha first looking forward to tha second
IDK as a little black kid who read the books AS THEY were coming out, I really feel like the story wasn't written with skin mentioned at all. Like maybe if we are talking about the spit on someones face as it drips over their eyes but this feels very... black is magic type shit and I don't really rock with that. The story was beautifully crafted the first time around and if I said I wasn't at least curious I'd be lying. But the fact remains that this story isn't about color but of the best parts of humanity meeting with the joys / and horrors / of fantasy. I hope it isn't a flop, but we await in baited breath.
@@neverknowsbest. thanks for your helpful comment. Not sure what it has to do with the trailer, but enjoy your day, hope it made you feel better about yourself 👏
@@thesynthwaveslasher6130 I have more than two brain cells to work with, so I ķnow what is meant by what is being said without looking it up in a dictionary. That is the only reason that you are responding to my comment. You fully understand the dog whistle. 😂😂😂🤣
I’m watching it. Nothing wrong with a difference in the remake. So much hate for another race. Kind of makes sense as to why the white man is a bad guy with all these stupid comments.
The majority of hate isn't for the race. There are many awesome talented black actors/actresses who have starred in many movies. This isn't even including the very talented blacks in music. They are loved for the acting/ music they've done. It's not until recent years that the topic of race has been an "issue." So what has happened then? It's because of the narrative that is being pushed down our throats via the media, nearly all movie platforms, schools/ universities, etc. that "blacks good, victimized, and can't do wrong. The white guy bad, selfish, and is the cause of all our problems." The problem many have is the source material, both fictional/ non-fictional/ historical, is being tailored to show case this narrative of race and victimhood rather than thoughtful storytelling of good, wholesome life principles of personal growth and the consequences of bad vs. good choices. People are very tired of being lectured and manipulated. That's where the pushback is happening.
@@deraj1037 I love how your response doesn’t make me angry. Very intelligent response. I’ve had this discussion with my wife actually and I slightly agree. Because I do unfortunately see the problem in some of the responses in the scroll of comments of this video. I think maybe we should be careful on how we choose how to speak about certain aspects of life. Some people choose to be in pain while others actually in pain. Some people choose to be hated or are actually hated. And those that are suffering, truly, is because of the hate that still exists from a time where whites did view themselves superior to people of color. Which isn’t ok. But, sometimes sensitivities are also too high and some may need to step back to assess their situation before they blame their problems on someone else. All in all, maybe the reason why some movies have been “in color” nowadays is because people of color now have the opportunity to be involved in certain movies where as before they wouldn’t have had that opportunity. Also, I love the Spiderwick Chronicles. Another theory that I came up with is that the reason why this series is different is because there isn’t a big enough audience for people of color when it comes to this book series. Maybe the creators want to invite more of a diverse audience so as to bring back a love for a long lost magic. I don’t know. There are many different reasons why the creators would make a series. But, a lot of the comments in this scroll talk about woke. Which is dumb. Why? People of color have been “woke” for centuries now because of what they’ve been through. They’ve had to endure what the “white man” did to them. And I’m not uninformed when it comes to this aspect of history. There were many different types of slaves. There still are. It’s just infrequent compared to way back when. But, justice has yet to be done upon those that judge others poorly. And a lot of these comments are ruthless and pointless. They come from a hateful state of mind. “Why are they black?” Why can’t they be? I also read a comment where someone stated: “The author never really said what color the people were in the book.” Not exact wording but, you get the point. So, in conclusion, the words that were negatively stated in this scroll were misplaced and honestly should be kept to themselves. How about: wow, a whole series on the spiderwick chronicles? Thats amazing! There’s only one movie squishing a bunch of information in to one hour. Can’t wait to see what this series will look like! One other thing, what about Disney’s Haunted Mansion movie that just came out? Eddie Murphy was in the original. And they’re both great movies. What about the Friday movies? Radio? Space Jam? You get where I’m going? Django Unchained? There are great movies out there with great people in them. And I have noticed that trailers of movies or series don’t give that movie or series a lot of justice. I don’t know if it has anything to do with editors not being paid enough or the industry isn’t hiring the right people to edit these trailers but…whatever. Maybe that will change too. CGI has become an obsession. We need better editors who make these movies or shows look more realistic. Even if they use CGI. But that’s beside the point. I don’t see any problem with people of color acting in a series that the producers know people once loved. It’s time to get over this feeling that people apparently still have over something like this. It’s a TV series man. How do they live their lives if something like this sets them off? You can’t hide. Everyone will still be here at the end of the day. Thanks for reading. HAVE A SAVAGE DAY!!! P.S. I wrote this to respond to you but I also wrote this in a way so that others may be informed as well.
@@vrsavage I get your viewpoint and I like what you have said. Regarding judgment on movies, before they are viewed, most people are jaded about the messages/ agendas being pushed through movies. They are simply expecting some sort of lecture. Take this for instance. A coworker always seems to steer conversations to politics or religion. Even if it's not toxic in any way, eventually we would all expect that from them. We watch movies to be entertained, not lectured. If we want to be lectured, we would go to church, school/ college, or even watch some documentaries/ movies meant for that. If we want to be informed, we would watch/ read the news. The focus in movies/ shows is on being politically correct rather than writing amazing and engaging stories. I heard that there are thousands of absolutely amazing movie scripts submitted every year. But they are never chosen since it does not follow certain viewpoints or cultural norms. I have not been able to verify this but I believe it if the incredible imagination of the human race is any indicator. Regarding injustices, there have been injustices committed in all instances of history. Injustices that do not respect race or creed. Pointing the finger on who did what to whom is the farthest thing of productivity and progression. Especially since people alive today had absolutely no say in what happened back then. Not saying you're personally holding onto anything at all nor am I saying to forget the past. I think we should learn all aspects of history objectively; removed from emotion and void of seeking reparations. Simply to learn from the past to better our present and future. And of course, not to make the same mistakes. On present injustices that are a result of bad people committing really bad things. They should be dealt with swiftly but also given opportunities for rehabilitation since I believe in second chances for those who are truly sorrowful for their actions. I've been reading Dale Carnegie's How to Stop Worrying and Start Living (About to start another one of his books, How to Win Friends and Influence People. Super excited.). Phenomenal book. Not everyone will gain beneficial insights from the book since they may already have an innate understanding of the simple life principles found within. I do not have that innate understanding so I'm getting so much out of it. I mention this book because of an overall principle I'm getting from the book regarding the topic. Essentially, move on from the things that will steal away personal happiness. Even if those feelings to hold onto something may seem justified. Professor Williams James said, "Be willing to have it so. Acceptance of what has happened is the first step in overcoming the consequences of any misfortune." I understand that this is way easier said than done. But I'm hoping that when I'm inevitably burned hard I will have someone to speak blatantly to me to let go of my pride, forgive, move on, and take hold of a brighter future. Thank you for your intelligent and respectful response as well. You've reminded me of things to keep in mind so that I may judge better. I hope we will speak again.
just why????? the film itself didnt even setup for any sequel or anything. just becos you could DONT mean you should. whoever the dumb director is this film is not getting any reviews not even on rotten tomatoes
I just feel is they ruined it from the stories, it felt like the marvel movie black panther where the white people were the bad guys everywhere and put too much drama into it taking the imagination of the creatures like the picture in the book weren’t that good. In other words they blackwashed it.
Okay y'all, a whole day but I watched all of season one.... It's really freaking good.... Might be a bit modern compared to the 2008 movie. I still live the movie more, but it's actually really good and pretty interesting too
Bro why u lyin no its not 😭 as an adaptation it fails to adapt a single book and as a show its a messy teen drama with horrible dialect and decision making. All the characters are extremely annoying and have next to no redeeming qualities not to mention its boring asf
@@baronplumlee1056 hey dum dum, and I mean the things from spy kids... I legit mean it's fine as a stand alone shit I have lots of issues with it I'm just saying it's not the worst thing ever and I agree with a good portion of the comments it's just I'm not willing to make an opinion on something till I for sure have watched it and can figure out how I feel about it.
Ahora las remakes son de negros. Jajaj. Da risa el cine de eeuu. NI una idea nueva sin inclusion forzada pueden crear. ""Pongamos negros" por todos lados. Jajaja
I’m so sick of all these reboots and the dei gender and ethnic swapping! I hope this garbage gets cancelled immediately. Woke Hollyweird needs to stop messing with my childhood favorite classics. They should leave it well enough alone and make something new if they had any talent or creativity they would. But they can’t because they’re destroyers.
I'm getting so sick of remakes especially political fueled ones augh why ruin a good movie. sick of over woke over ethnic movie remake just imagine if all jack chan movies or die hards were all re made black washed im mean so sick of it the way forward is not reliving the last 60 year by ethnication of every single movie people need to imagine new stuff Barff and its always only one ethnic group just saying why not native Americans why not Asians or heck south American no no the whole freaking planet has oppressed one group alone lol grow get up dust off and move on folks. oh wait growing up means no more give me give me and actually working no more hand out augh. i miss the 90's
I would guess a "remake" but slightly different story. Seems to still be the family the moved to new house, and the "crazy" lady who's father knew about magic creature and wrote a guidebook. But the path to getting the book appears different.
