The Spinning '60s Dalek from Asylum of the Daleks

Wished they went more in a Dalek Cann direction with the asylum inmates, have them spurt out nonsensical jibberish os insane laughter to really show their insanity

Oh I LOVE that little fella. I'd like to think there are some Daleks in the Asylum that are friendly and are deemed insane. It's kinda cute seeing it spin like that.

I think you're right. It couldn't protect it's leader and lost it's mind. Too many Humanized Daleks, I also figured it retreated which also added to it's insanity as it knows that Daleks never retreat from a fight as it is un-Dalek-like but knew it would be destroyed if it stayed along. But can't be a Humanized Dalek as in that story it was only the regular white domed drone Daleks that where humanized.

So I don't think what Amy saw as *exactly* how the Daleks saw themselves - they didn't literally see humans when they looked at each other / in the mirror. But I do think it was a *translation* of how they saw themselves - the imagery and self conceptualization of the Daleks being translated into a human brain, so the human sees them as humans. Because to the Daleks they are all just other poeple. The spinning Dalek didn't think it was a a human girl ballerina, but the closest conceptual image Amy's mind reached for with person twirling around for the sake of it, was a ballerina. Also a nice stealth reference to ballet dancers inspiring Dalek skirts and movement (Oswin also has a ballerina in her hallucination iirc)

Wasn't it the 'only' classic Dalek that actually moved??? That's what I noted as the rest that were active only appeared to be the bronze ones. It was nice seeing a classic Dalek actually actively taking part in the action. It looked odd that only the bronze ones had any sort of life to them.

It's up for interpretation about where these Daleks come from. All of the old series Daleks we see in NuWho are only there to make fans of the old series go "Wow look, old Daleks", there's almost certainly no lore implications behind it, just a mere throwback of nostalgia and fuel to form headcanons.

Aw man. I usually try to be kind to every single episode of Doctor Who, but we were promised so much when it came to the classic props and they really played little to no part in the story. If I could only have made one change to this episode, it would have been that the daleks mentioned in the intensive care unit would have matched the classic series stories they referenced.

I always assumed that this was an actual child, converted into a Dalek just like Oswin. But now you've pointed out to me that it's a 60s Emperor's Guard, that doesn't make as much sense.

I choose to believe that this black dalek was defending to emperor in the battle and was shooting so many daleks and it too a tole on it so it eventually just kept turning around and around in silent insanity it’s also one of my favourite asylum daleks mainly because the black dalek guards are among my favourite daleks

All I can think is that it was infected with the human factor resulting in the “dizzy dizzy daleks” represented by the girl dancing and the dalek spinning

I remember thinking when this episode first came out that those humans amy saw were who these daleks used to be.

When we see them ad people I take that as them when they were kaleds the "insanity" is simply the mind being reverted to them as they were in the beginning
