MCC staff in the U.S. will journey together through 12 months of learning and engagement to foster a more equitable and inclusive environment for all of God’s people through Jemar Tisby’s The Color of Compromise: The Truth about the American Church’s Complicity in Racism. The book and accompanying video series are broken up into 12 chapters that staff will be discussing monthly.
Throughout the year, four special guest speakers from particular ethnic groups will be invited to share in webinars. Find more information at mcc.org/color-compromise-honest-look-racism-church

I listened to the webinar by MarK Charles and sponsored by MCC 2021 in their series of Color of Compromise. Mark presented Unsettling Truths: The Spiritual Cost of Doctrine of Discovery. I was so impressed with his presentation and the content. After the lecture, I purchased his book by the same title. I learned so much about Native American History and the actual truth. Mark listed the 700 Native American Tribes. Is had no idea there were do many. Most all of us were immigrants at one time or descendants and may unknowingly have been a part of the displacement and or death of native Americans. I lived near the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes of the Fort Hall Indian Reservation in Southeastern Idaho. His book Unsettling Truths is certainly worth reading. The sad thing is that few people will read the book. I was interested in reading that he lives in Washington, DC where he works and has opportunity to lecture in a variety of places. L. Taylor
