The SpongeBob Monster Island Trilogy 

An aspect of Spongebob worldbuilding I miss is that deeper parts of the ocean were much more wild and dangerous, filled with monsters. Like what we saw in the first movie, and to a much lesser extent, Rock Bottom.

A quick note, “Monster X” is also a name of a Kaiju from Godzilla Final Wars (he’s also sometimes called Keizer Ghidorah, although I never see anyone call him that). Even more of a connection to Godzilla lmao

they have doodlebob in the third game it’s a immediate 10/10

So basically this game is just binding of Isaac, Mario run, and pokemon but with SpongeBob. Also Godzilla cameo in SpongeBob. That funny because of all cameos Godzilla would be in a kids show.

This begs the question: why hasnt there been a SpongeBob RPG for consoles? A game that takes the same core concept of the flash game and expands upon it!

I remember a Courage the Cowardly Dog game where you had to find Muriel and Eustace by looking around the household. I can't remember the name though.

I remember these games. I remember the atmosphere for the first two games was rather alien and lonely for a Spongebob game. I remember they really freaked me out as a kid. Also, to this day, that section with the flying crab jellyfish thing is still the absolute bane of my existence.

5:35 No way, this game had an ending? Whatever version I played of it didn't have that final cut scene and instead I was brought back to level 1. The game kept looping. At least I get some "closure" now. 😂

Yay, more of these weird games from my childhood. Now, I am still looking for this game based on the one sponge gloss episode where kids throw balloons of ketchup and u control spongebob and have to throw balloons back at them from across the street, while also dodging those flat fish, and spongegloss was a powerup that made u immune to damage. Another one is one where ur mouse is a little duster that u use to propel spongebob past magma tubes, and spongebob's health was indicated by how black and burned he was. I think i remember the reef blower epidose music playing as well The final was this game where Spongebob and Patrick had to escape the dutchman's ship or something with Spongebob carrying the chest while riding on patrick sliding on his belly. These last two i feel like even in my childhood struggling to find to replay so maybe these are even more obscure 😭

I remember playing and loving the first Monster Island game, but because my parents old laptop was nearing the end of its life the final level with Monster ??? was so broken and laggy I couldn't finish it.

I also wanted to play that Lava King game, once I entered my name it wouldn’t load afterwards Another game I wanted to play was Elbow Grease where Patrick messes up the floor while SpongeBob cleans it, I get stuck after I click play I also wanted to go back to playing SpongeBob Level Editor, but it got lost to time and never got preserved meaning the game is unplayable until someone can bring it back on the way back machine

Genuinely never thought I'd hear anyone talk about Monster Island. My jam was Return to Monster Island, played it many times. What always bugged me was those two statues that you light up, the blue one by the sea and the red one in the volcano. Could never figure out what those did. There was also a version of Return to Monster Island that featured animated cutscenes instead of stills with text.

I always thought the first monster island (and WM’s games in general) were really off-putting as a kid. Like they give off a vibe that feels nothing like the show.
