Im late for bed, and its all your fault Keith!! I hears Banbury mentioned so thought i would give it a glance, bur oh no had to watch the bloody lot! Remember you at Reading West oh a couple of years ago and recall you got a lot of freights on that occation, as indeed you have again here. The car teain is amazing especially behind my favourite Redsheds, great meating father and son how freindly they were great guys, well time for bed now hugely enjoyed as always do hope your well and speak soon, regards Nick.

Short little run out there Keith, but still a fair bit to see. Reading very different now with its layout and traction compared to my visits in the 1990s. Saw a few of the same workings you did at King's Sutton today.

I used to live in Reading west. Bit of an eye opener for a welsh country boy in 1999. Theres a lidl and McDonald's next to Reading West station. Used to catch the train to Bedwyn or thatcham just to get out of the place. The line used to go behind my house, if I remember there used to be Rubbish trains from london, going to cornwall and china clay trains from Cornwall. Ford Van's on a freight train too. They really need to reinstate the Didcot -Newbury- Southampton line to skip reading west with freight as it's a bottle neck. There is a paddington via reading to great bedwyn train that is a local service.

Reading is a busy station. Stabled here are Heathrow Express sets and the class 47 used on sleeper services. My neck of the woods.

The class 70 may not be the best looking loco but it sure as hell makes a cracking noise at speed l. Great video.

Brilliant video Keith, Reading West is one of my favourite stations to go to for freight along with Eastleigh (which I should hopefully be going to next month sometime)

I can't get over how much Reading has changed! Last time I was there, there were NO overhead wires, and the line from London-Waterloo had slam-door VEP and CIG units operating the service! Great Video Keith, (as always), regards to everyone, Ian.

Nice! However some trains do skip reading in peak hours. Some go non stop Paddington to Bristol Parkway kinda weird but yeah they pass through platform 9 about 70 MPH.

great route memories of when I photographed the remaining steam to diesel hydraulics and the hsts interesting to note silver livered 387s in Reading sidings plus yellow ends to class 800 s many thanks

I am so jealous, all the different opportunities for railfanning. 1. In BR days was cross country branded differently or just part of Intercity and did it use HST sets? 2. Does Reading have 3rd rail platforms for the services to Waterloo? Thank you and look forward to your next video.

Looks a great spot for freight, must spend a day there before the rainy season comes. Just one question, are there any catering facilities or is it bring your own food?
