The Spring Factory - make your own Extendez springs 

I've been tinkering with background music on some of the videos but the volume of the music doesn't seem to stay the same between the editing software and the video upload. I'll get it figured out eventually, we'll just have to suffer through some trials along the way

@@bryc0115 I haven't found any posted information about what the dimensions are supposed to be. I have purchased 3 different brands of pre bent 30 round springs and all 3 of them are slightly different. If I remember correctly the closest I've found to matching is either the 30 or 35 degree wedge. The top few coils have a different dimension than the rest so that they fit the follower and tapered portion of the magazine. I can pull some measurements from one of the store bought springs when I get home but you'll have to compensate for bends and wire diameter to make adjustments. You're likely going to scrap a bit of wire to dial it in. If you want to add me on discord for easier communication I'm pretty sure I have my information posted in my pages information on here, then I can add pictures of the spring if you need them.

I do not have a good answer for that question. I have single shot dart blasters but do not have any with a magazine to take apart for comparison. My assumption is that you could make it work but I think a thinner wire would be better so that the darts don't get deformed or just pop out from spring pressure

I haven't tried making anything other than Glock mag springs with it. Springs for the fire control group would probably be easier to do freehand around a hardened steel pin just because of their shape, but I've never tried it to find out

As far as I know this design is only available by 3d printing it. I have not found it for sale online.

I haven't tried it for anything other than Glock springs but it should be just about universal, so long as the bend radius doesn't need to be smaller than the center pin. In that case you'd need to modify the part to take smaller pins or just scale the entire part down

I found mine on eBay but you can find this same brand at msc industrial, Amazon, and some hardware stores

I actually had another viewer who intended to make one to repair a PEZ candy dispenser. The device is great for any hard to find spring that needs replaced

This machine will allow you to make springs for many different uses. If you need springs with smaller bends you could scale down the print so that it uses smaller dowel rods. The smaller the center dowel rod is the smaller radius you can make on your spring. My children enjoy pez but I have never tried to make the dispenser myself

@@domytar5395 piano wire is common for home made springs and is inexpensive. I am not sure what size wire you would need though.

I'm not familiar with grabcad. I found it 9n defcad and thingiverse. From my search this is the only one I could find that's set up like this. There are some other models shaped like a Glock mag with grooves, and you just wrap it around. This is more of a multipurpose bender though so I thought it was better overall even if it is a little more work to use

@@250smacks same here. I originally found it on defcad then started searching for it on odysee and thingiverse. I never did find it on odyssee but the search feature isn't great

I'm not home right now to get the info but if you are downloading the files from thingiverse you should click "download all", it is the only way to get the readme file with instructions on how to scale the parts and what size the metal pins are that you need for assembly

I am at work right now, when I am home I will provide the measurements for you.

An 18 round G17 magazine has 14 wraps that are 16.5mm outside diameter, 1 wrap is 15.5mm o.d., and 5 wraps that are 11.5mm o.d., with the total spring length being 152mm. A 17 round G17 magazine has 10 wraps with an outside diameter of 17.5mm, 1 wrap of 14.5mm o.d., and 5 wraps of 10.5mm o.d., with a total spring length of 154mm A 15 round G19 spring has 11 wraps with a 16.5mm o.d., 1 wrap with a 15 o.d., and 3 wraps with a 9mm o.d., with a total spring length of 117mm A 30 round G17 spring has 18 wraps with a 16mm o.d., and 6 wraps with a 9.5mm o.d., with a total spring length of 180mm All of the springs have a start loop and an end loop to help them hold onto the base plate and follower. You will have to do some math to compensate for the thickness of the wire you are using and bend radius to get your springs to the correct size, when using the spring factory your measurements would all be for the inside diameter of the spring but I have only provided you with the outside diameter. This is because different manufacturers use different thickness of wire. Also the store bought springs are wrapped around a large pin, the spring factory uses a small pin and therefore requires you to make a spring that is rectangular instead of ovular like the store bought magazines. I hope this information helps, just remember that you do not need perfection to achieve functional parts.

I only tried making the 25-30 round springs and I had to use the largest slope to match the store bought spring. It was either 30 or 35 degrees.

I don't think it can be purchased, but if have any friends with a 3d printer they could print it for you

@@alexsaville967 www.thingiverse.com/thing:5025291 When you download the files you'll want to "download all" because that is the only way to get the instructions that tell you which size rods are dowel pins to use, as well as what percentage to scale the part up to (I think it requires a 1000% scale setting)

You have to scale all parts 1000% if I remember correctly. I will double check and let you know for sure once I get the kids to school

The only way to get measurements is to find someone who has made the spring before or measure a factory spring. I live in Ohio and we do not have magazine restrictions, and I don't own a g26, so I can't really help with that one

You can stress relieve them in a regular oven. The music wire has already been heat treated

@@dr.kekyll9839 If I remember correctly there was a suggested time and temperature in the readme files. I will have to check after work but I want to say it was 400°F for a certain amount of time then cool to room temp with the door closed. I'll post an update around 10pm, otherwise if you go to thingiverse and "download all" it will give you the readme files with some useful information. My personal opinion is that Glock springs are so plentiful and relatively cheap that I'd rather just buy them but if you need a hard to find spring then this machine works very well.

@@dr.kekyll9839 I'd thought about using it for the printable ar mags too, just haven't made it that far yet. I picked up a stack of used mil surp mags at a gun show about 10 years ago so that project has been a low priority. Guess I could start the prints though so it's ready for a video

I actually found the 2 spools that I bought on eBay, they were listed as old stock. If you can't find that size on eBay or Amazon then check out Grainger or zoro tools. I'm using Precision brand music wire

Google search Precision 21051 and you'll see it pop up on several sites

Currently they are $10 to $15 each after shipping for single springs, $5 to $10 each if you buy 5 spring, $3.25 each of you buy 10, and about $1.87 each if you buy 50. Current shipping time is 4-6 weeks, plus 3-5 days handling time. I paid right around $50 for 9 springs that were already the correct size for extendez mags and had them in 3 days. If I were going to order from Ali I'd definitely want to do the 50 pack to make it worth the wait, but I don't know if they are bent to fit factory mags or extendez mags. If they don't fit printed mags then I'd rather just spend a little more for the ones that do, and not wait 6 weeks. But that's just my personal preference. I'm terribly impatient.

@@popinmo most people just resell the springs, in which case you could easily sell them. It's generally frowned upon to sell things you didn't design because then the person who put in the time on the design isn't getting paid for their work. I'm pretty sure you could sell the 25 round extendez mags for $15ish though

@@19amw87 I mean depends making a model is a one time thing but production of it is constant work for each item sold so I really don't see why it's wrong
