The Springfields - Island Of Dreams . HD
The Springfields were a British pop-folk vocal trio in the early 1960s, who had success both in the UK, USA and Ireland, but are now best remembered as the launch pad for singer Dusty Springfield.
At the end of 1962 they had the biggest hit of their career in Britain, "Island of Dreams", which reached # 5 in the charts, as did the follow-up "Say I Won't Be There". By this time the Springfields were one of the most popular groups in the UK. However, Dusty Springfield felt increasingly hemmed in by the group's image as a folk act and Tom's lead role within the trio, and towards the end of 1963 decided to leave for a solo career.

I'm glad I was a young boy growing up and had this great music to listen too, three great looking people, Mike Hurst, Dusty, and Tom and great voices, this was quality entertainment not some of the garbage that's offered today

Yes, I feel fortunate to have lived through the 60s, 70s and even 80s when people could sing, compose AND play and not need "autotune" etc. I do feel sorry for kids today.

Well said the garbage that is rolled out today can not even be called music . The magic of this performance comes from 3 x singers, 2 x guitars , 1 x microphone & a heap of talent. No skimpy clothing, dubbing , lip sync , voice over or other mumbo jumbo.. Makes you kinda think doesn't it ?.. Kind thoughts Peggy Wood (Aotearoa)

Love this song. After seeing Pulp Fiction and hearing son of a preacher man for the first time I went to The Colony in Times Square and bought a Dusty Springfield greatest hits CD. This was the first song on the CD ( it went in chronological order). It’s important to include great music in a film so people can learn about songs they may not have known otherwise.

The very first time I heard Dusty take the lead and actually sing solo in parts. Just exquisite how her voice effortlessly reaches those notes. Spine-tingling. A few short years later, she was a solo star in her own right. Ladies and gentlemen, it's Dusty Springfield!

The Springfields put Irish singers on the map along with the Batchelor’s although most people thought they were American due to the stage name Springfields. Dusty and brother Tom, real names Mary and Tom O’Brien had fantastic natural singing voices. RIP guys.
