The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe is a first person exploration game. It is an expanded re-imagining of the critically acclaimed, award winning indie game The Stanley Parable from 2013.
When a simple-minded individual named Stanley discovers that the co-workers in his office have mysteriously vanished, he sets off to find answers.
You will play as Stanley, and you will not play as Stanley. You will make a choice, and you will have your choices taken from you. The game will end, the game will never end. Contradiction follows contradiction, the rules of how games should work are broken, then broken again. You are not here to win. The Stanley Parable is a game that plays you.
What's New?
Everything that was in the original Stanley Parable is here, preserved just like it was back in 2013. But The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe also dramatically expands the world of the original game with new content, new choices, and new secrets to uncover. The labyrinth has just gotten bigger.
In addition, the game has been visually upgraded to reflect modern technology while faithfully preserving the tone of the original game. Accessibility features have also been added to the game, including localization of in-world text, colorblind options, and content warnings.
And just as before, the impeccable voicework of Kevan Brighting will accompany you every step of the way.
In The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe, everything you remember has been recreated, yet it's different somehow. We've been here before, haven't we? Is Stanley still the same as he was back then? Or is it you who has changed?

-1- Freedom Ending [Original] The narrator dialogue : This is a story of a man named Stanley. Stanley worked for a company in a big building where he was Employee Number 427. Employee Number 427's job was simple. He sat at his desk in Room 427, and he pushed buttons on a keyboard. Orders came to him through a monitor on his desk telling him what buttons to push, how long to push them, and in what order. This is what Employee 427 did every day of every month of every year. And although others have considered it soul-rending Stanley relished every moment that the orders came in, as though he has been made exactly for his job. And Stanley was happy. And then one day, something very peculiar happened. Something that would forever change Stanley. Something he would never quite forget. He had been at his desk for nearly an hour when he realized not one single order had arrived on the monitor for him to follow. No one had showed up to give him instructions, call a meeting, or even say hi. Never in all his years at the company had this happened; this complete isolation. Something was very clearly wrong. Shocked, frozen solid, Stanley found himself unable to move for the longest time. But as he came to his wits and regained his senses he got up from his desk, and stepped out of his office. All his co-workers were gone. What could it mean? Stanley decided to go to the meeting room; perhaps he had simply missed a memo. When Stanley came to a set of two doors, he entered the door on his left. Yet there was not a single person here either. Felling a wave of disbelief Stanley decided to go up to his boss's office hoping he might find on answer there. Coming to a staircase, Stanley walked upstairs to his boss's office. Stepping into his manager's office Stanley was once again stunned to discover not an indication of any human life. Shocked, unraveled, Stanley wondered in disbelief who orchestrated this. What dark secret was being held from him? What he could not have known was that the keypad behind the boss's desk guarded the terrible truth that his boss had been keeping from him. And so the boss had assigned it an extra secret pin number 2-8-4-5 But of course, Stanley couldn't possibly have known this. Yet incredibly, by simply pushing random buttons on the keypad Stanley happened to input the correct code by sheer luck. Amazing. He stepped into the newly opened passageway. Descending deeper into the building, Stanley realized he felt a bit peculiar. It was a stirring of emotion in his chest as though he felt more free to think for himself, to question the nature of his job. Why did he feel this now, when for years it had never occurred to him? This question would not go unanswered for long. Stanley walked straight ahead through the large door that read: 'Mind Control Facility'. The light rose on an enormous room packed with television screens. "What horrible secret did this place hold?" Stanley thought to himself. Did he have the strength to find out? Now the monitors jumped to life, their true nature revealed. Each bore the number of an employee in the building - Stanley's co-worker. The lives of so many individuals reduced to images on screen, and Stanley one of them eternally monitored in this place where freedom meant nothing. This Mind Control Facility... It was to horrible to believe. It couldn't be true. Had Stanley really been under someone's control all the time? Was this the only reason he was happy with his boring job? That his emotions had been manipulated to accept it blindly? No! He refused to believe it. He couldn't accept it. His own life in someone else's control? Never! It was unthinkable, wasn't it? Was it even possible? Had he truly spent his entire life utterly blind to the world? But here was the proof. The heart of the operation. Control labeled with emotions: 'happy', or 'sad', or 'content'. Walking, eating, working; all of it monitored and commanded from this very place. And as the cold reality of his past began to sink in Stanley decided that this machinery would never again exert its terrible power over another human life. For he would dismantle the controls once and for all. Blackness. And a rising chill of uncertainty. Was it over? Yes! He had won. He had defeated the machine, unshackled himself from someone else's command. Freedom was mere moments away. And yet, even as the immense door slowly opened Stanley reflected on how many puzzles still lay unsolved. Where had his co-worker gone? How had he been freed from the machine's grasp? What other mysteries did this strange building hold? But as sunlight streamed into the chamber, he realized non of this mattered to him. For it was not knowledge, or even power, that he had been seeking, but happiness. Perhaps his goal had not been to understand, but to let go. No longer would anyone tell him where to go, what to do, or how to feel. Whatever life he lives, it will be his. And that was all he needed to know. It was, perhaps, the only thing worth knowing. Stanley stepped through the open door. Stanley felt the cool breeze upon his skin, the felling of liberation, the immense possibility of the new path before him. This was exactly the way, right now, that things were meant to happen. And Stanley was happy. -THE END-

The skip ending is scary as hell because the more skips you do the more insane the narrator gets then he gets to the point of just leaving and not talking but then he comes back and just keeps on saying 'the end is never the end is never the end is never' until you hit the skip button again and again then the building just gets destroyed over time and Stanley walks out just to see a desert with nothing in it, no one just the sand and the building that deteriorated over time leaving Stanley as the only one to see the vast plain of nothingness. No narrator, just nothing

What makes it scarier is that moment with the smoke alarm. After the first silence, the next one has a smoke alarm going off. Those things are usually made with a radioactive element known as Americium- which decays over a period of 7,500 years. The alarm malfunctions at that point- presumably- so we've got a bit of a record for just *how long* it's been by that point.

The reward for the 4 hours ending should be a parachute that you can optionally grab that lets you survive the fall you make in the powerful ending. so that you can get to the bottom of the platform room and drive a truck out of there. From there, anything is possible. I like to think maybe Stanley finds all his employees on strike in front of the building, holdings signs which read NO MORE MIND CONTROL. If you take the bucket, they all hold buckets.

With the context of the original 2011 mod and The Beginners Guide added, I think I have a clear idea about what this game has been all about. (In my personal interpretation and opinion. I’m pretty sure that this game has no singular point to it) The Stanley Parable when it was originally first made was not supposed to be funny. It was *never* funny. The whole point of that game was that no matter what choice you make, you don’t really get to make it because life does it for you. When they say you have little to no control, they meant it. If anything, The Narrator was actually even *more* cruel in the original because he actually wanted you to “punish yourself” for deviating from his determined path. In the 2013 remake, much of the same ideas are still present, only differences being that there are occasional gags to lighten up the mood a little, although not intrinsically funny on their own. (Actually in Ultra Deluxe he literally just spells that out for you when arranging ideas for a sequel) The tongue and cheek gags all still relied on the nature of the situation, which still had dire consequences. (You killing yourself to get away from The Narrator, him tricking you into honking you have a wife only to slowly kill you, the confusion ending going even further off track from even what The Narrator is supposed to do since he also isn’t real, etc.) Its why the “true ending” to that game is when you went out of your way to do everything wrong up to the point of unplugging the phone, and why when both following him and not still ends up bad. Sometimes we just can’t dictate how things will go, no matter how sure we are of it, so the best choice was to do nothing. The demo was basically a much more subtler version of that. In Ultra Deluxe, the main final goal is to tell you again that it wasn’t supposed to be funny. Sure it has some commentary on how dumb and cash grabby remakes and sequels can be too, but ultimately the point was that The Narrator only “created” Stanley to distract himself from the fact that he was lonely. (Which is also half the point of The Beginners Guide) And once he leaves him, the only thing Stanley has left for him at that point is a whole lot of nothing but gags. (The bucket, the buttons that say Jim, the figurines, the made up bad reviews, etc.) It’s like The Narrator said: “Unfunny!? I wasn’t trying to be funny, I was trying to make a point! Pretentious!? I’m not pretentious am I Stanley? …Maybe I was. Perhaps The Stanley Parable wasn’t as good as I thought to be after all”. This is even further evidenced by the fact that the creator also wrote a long blog post somewhere completely breaking down on how it has affected him. He was glad that people played and liked the game sure, but it was getting more and more popular for all the wrong reasons in his head. We’ve rarely heard from him ever since the 2013 game, and I can see why. He didn’t want fame, fortune, and a franchise up his belt, he just wanted to make some kind of art piece. The 2013 game only doubled down on the humorous aspect as criticism towards people saying that the 2011 one as is was already funny for how absurd it was. These games are all about meta commentary after all. Do I still think that 2013 and Ultra Deluxe are funny though? Of course. But at the end of the day, humor is still subjective. No one can determine what someone considers to be funny or not from a purely objective standpoint. And hey, people make fun of tragedies all the time, it’s what helps us cope from being depressed all the time. The creator didn’t intend for these games to ever be funny, but that’s just how it ended up being. Some may say that he thinks of himself as a failure because of that, and while that certainly was the case initially, I think by now he has came to accept that it’s different. If he didn’t then Ultra Deluxe just simply wouldn’t exist, and we had to wait 9 years to get it, so obviously things have changed. It’s probably the main reason why he made The Beginners Guide as well, because he wanted to convey the point better that you shouldn’t make choices for other people when they don’t ask for it, when that’s exactly what life itself already does to begin with. All he did there was made it more obvious since he was the one messing with his supposed friend that he apparently wanted to “help” for some validation. Some people just want to be left alone. (Like when Stanley did skipping The Narrator thousands of years into the future into a desert) It was a dick move sure, but it’s still relatable, we all want to help people when we can, but sometimes people just simply don’t. Sometimes there’s no meaning at all. Maybe life itself has *no* meaning. We will never know as long as we live. Anyways, I am done with this monstrous mountain of text I took from my bucket that most likely no one will read, thanks for coming to my TED Talk. I am doney with the funny! *…Wait that’s not how it works-*

The extra "ending", before the Real Person ending, where you fall to the bottom of the cargo bay without dying, is really bizarre in nature to the Stanley Parable. No narrator, no extra events, nothing. Just the while room before the truck and some calm music, the game doesn't end itself and restart and reminds me a lot of the original Games Ending. Really curious as to why it's there.

There is one "ending" that is missing from this video, though it's more of an Easter egg really. I call it an ending though because once you're down there, you have to restart to get out. It's possible to get to the floor of the cargo bay without dying. To do it, you need to unplug the phone and watch the choice instructional video. After that, instead of getting on the lift to go back, wedge yourself through the gap in the fence to get through and fall onto the floor below (you may need to fidget around a bit by crouching to squeeze in). Unlike in other variants of this room, there is no "kill" trigger in this version. Once you are down here, head through the open shutter "B" and you can hear a nice little song in the white room.

and at the same time, theres also another ending removed due to the transition from Source to Unity, which is Serious Room ending, which requires you to use the console, something unity doesnt have (by default), as a result, its was removed on Ultra Deluxe entirely except only some references via easter egg.

Indeed, you can get to the floor of the cargo hold without dying, thank you for paying attention to this. When I recorded the walkthrough, I didn't know that :( However, this does not lead to new dialogues, and just music is playing, without words. You can also not fall to the floor, but go to the ventilation and get stuck there forever (there will be no teleportation to the room with the tape, you will just sit in the ventilation).

Some might find the Skip Button ending is indeed genuinely saddening. While the Narrator responds to the negative reviews with his usual attitude AT FIRST, it slowly becomes clear how hard they hit him. I'm sure we've all been that way when negative reviews have left us down in the dumps. Anyone who's struggled with negative feedback on their creative work can sympathise with the Narrator at this point. And he's so desperate to please these people that he makes the Skip Button, and this ends up becoming his and Stanley's undoing when the skips become longer and longer. This is all very similar to the last part in the Confusion Ending's schedule, when the Narrator eventually leaves and Stanley is left all alone. Imagine how frightening this must be for Stanley to take in. All he was doing in that time was willingly helping the Narrator with a new feature, and neither of them knew what was going to happen. And at this rate, he's got no other option but to watch the whole world crumble around him, only being able to push buttons to distract himself. How much time must have passed? Hundreds of years? Thousands? MILLIONS? Neither of them could tell anymore.

for those who dont believe me From The Ashes of depravity rises the phoenix of quality, How else to describe The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe? Such revolutionary step forward in the lineage of one of the most beloved video game properties of all time! The additions and changes made to this expansion will surely resonate in the annals of the history of all media ever made. It is perhaps true to say that no mistakes are forever etched in stone for the stone into which The Stanley Parable was carved has itself been transmuted offering a message of hope to those who have ever erred in their judgement. You are not beyond redemption. You may change, and you may become more so much more than you were before. If there is any message to be taken form The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe It is this... What a fortune, a privilege, a joy it is to have had such an experience it leave me hopeful that as a community - as a world there is time for us to become our greatest selves as great as we ever could dream of in our wildest, most ambitious visions for brighter future.

I’d assume there’s a way to possibly do it with a macro or an autohotkey script, but that would probably take longer than doing it manually lol having experience with autohotkey and knowing how to make scripts or commands from them, it might be easier than it seems conceptually to create a hotkey script for this, but it would require a precise start point that the script would return to(aka the method done he did for both buttons without moving the mouse, with the a key being held for the same amount of time as the d key). this is all if and only if the game allowed inputs to be scripted

We all can say so much about this game Every ending (even the joke one's) has something different My favorites one yet so far is the skip button ending, yea i can now talk how much i appreciate this by saying that narrator is real and... Doesn't that mean what they wanted? To someone like right now me to explain my experience about this game? This game is about thinking outside, i know i'm talking about that game and how i can explain it more, i even can think about thinking, the more i think about thinking i start to more and more overthinking the overthinking it's like a parabox i can't escape it, this is the game, this is what it trully is about, for people that will explain how that game is amazing... Look, i'm now the person who explains how good this game is, do you see it? You are a person with feelings realising something you couldn't think by youself or you are person like me and realised it earlier and i'm just repeating you thoughts- okay...(are you still reading?) I think i need to stop thinking about thinking and stop overthinking it beacuse not only me but also you are getting confused... Now i feel like i'm the narrator in this situation, and you are the Stanley... Dear god i need to stop talking and just say this... "There's two sides, narratir and Stanley, one who lisen and one who is talking, in this situation you are the Stanley and you don't even realised it untill now..."

Genuinely in a scary game a dumb thing that you put care in for little-to-no-reason is a great way to help you get through it Naming one of the monsters and acting very casually around them, like a friend, and cheering for them every time they kill you Portal’s Companion Cube A random mug you were able to pick up Something on the floor that has collision so you’ve been kicking it around for the past hour A certain marking on a wall Using anything of the sort, a bucket in this case, you can feel less alone, and you can make the situation feel less serious Taking yourself a bit out of the immersion without leaving the world of the game by distracting yourself with something in the game can really help I think, and by golly am I glad the item they chose to make a joke about that was a bucket
