Could you please reupload this video but with a better microphone quality and pictures. This is informative but the sound is so distracting as well as the lack of actual imagery To convey the point you are trying to make.
Honestly bro you content is awesome and the little hiccups like the reboot are negligible. I honestly don’t even notice it enough to be bothered. Imo just upgrade when ever it’s convenient, you good 👍
I think the good part of the emperor will become a good god in the warp. That make the saints and give divine powers. And the body when killed. Will be reborn somewere but will be a enemy A tyrant try to conquer everything.
The emporer litterally devested himself of that portion of his soul that kept hope, love, joy etc. The question is WHERE he sent it. The answer is that place where his sister of battle Saint Celestine goes every time she dies and is reborn. It ALSO seems strikingly similar to the extradimensional place that the yellow king is marshalling his forces - forces that just so happen to include blood angels that have actual wings. A place that is juuuuust possibly adjacent to the similarly extradimensional forest used by the returned Lion...
Big E heard his son's voice while RG was fighting Mortarian, Big E stopped the Godblight and burned all of Nurgle's garden. He addressed Mortarian the same way as RG, but stated he could perhaps be saved. Then Mortarian was sucked back into Nurgle's house. A small piece of his humanity is still there to have saved RG. Book is Godblight.
@@AzrealMaximus Not only a piece that saved Robute, but a piece that still loves even his traitor sons enough to tell them "I still love you. I still want to save you."
very interesting take, very ambitious decision to retcon the emperor from being less of a "Sigmar in spaaaace", to "ha! fooled you! he was closer to Archaon in spaaaace". But it cleans up a lot of the lore, and it's great to see the mythology finally get it's due.
An interesting theory I have is that is the two souls could remain separate, When his soul fragment is found it could be reborn as the embodiment of the emperors love, compassion and hope, and this would be the prophetic star child The soul that remain within the body or the emperor has become bitter and twisted and could ascend within the warp as a manifestation of the emperors hate, tyranny and despair, this would be the dark king This could lead to a new Crusade with the star child trying to ascend to god good as quickly as possible while being chased by both the forces of chaos who see him as the greatest galactic threat and those of the ecclesiarchy who believe he is a heretic, while the newly ascended dark king must be held at bay on the golden throne by the grey knights who must make a stand against the loyal custody to maintain the astronomicon, and to stop the same fate as the elder. This would lead to a scramble by chaos who in a twist of fate advance a new black crusade directly to terra to free the newly empowered dark king, while being held off by the star child’s “daemons” ie, living saint and the mysterious legion of the damned, although I believe these will start to be referred to as Angels of Chaos. I know I probably well off but I love theory crafting
Could it be possible for Cypher to be part of all this? Killing the emperor on the throne so his soul can be reborn alongside the emperor in the warp into the star child?
24:00 what if Valdors plan is two-pronged? Work in material relm to find and get star child to throne AND seize webway gate? He must know both must be done for Emperor to get off throne and his actions suggest he is trying to do both
No, I believe it's his appearance that does. He visually appears as what is expected, atleast this seems to happen to atleast one Primarch on first meeting him when they were found. Not sure how this works generally speaking though, obviously people would cross reference their descriptions of him and wonder what the fuck is going on.
I have the strangest feeling this is going to be a red herring. Namely based on the emperor depicted as getting maimed by horus then with the last of his strength getting a fatal hit in that made the chaos gods flee then obliterating his soul. Horus will either do or say something that will make the emperor believe he needs to kill horus by any means possible and will reabsorb whatever parts of his soul to kill him then "die" promptly after. I think the whole thing wont actually lead to the star child but instead the creation of that myth of a potentially hopeful entity that doesnt actually exist, the imperium wont know, but the reader will, much like slaanesh and the final sword needed for the eldar god of the dead. It will be something ultimately hopeless.
The act of Emperor drinking the raw source of Immaterium substance indicates that The Warp itself is always a neutral yet psychically tangible element to be utilised by beings with powerful enough soul or at least durable shell to utilises it, it makes sense that prophecies or at least the acts of bending the courses of Fates in Warhammer 40K doesn't exactly denies Prophecy as a concept, it's only have the Aetheric nature of Immaterium to be bended and shaped with enough psychic powers, elaborate rituals, utilisation of specific artefacts and other means overturning irony of small beings can influences the courses of The Warp and Realspace duality You can see this with how Daemons and any Warp entity can be permanently killed/granted "True Death" and never be reborn, as if the energies constituting the souls are ruined and dilute the threads of Fate into the formless waters of Immaterium, this applies to chaos daemons or even the advanced technologies that can shut Warp intrusions akin to Necron Pylon or the mindbending will of Primarchs or the technology of Vulkan's (take it, he probably have gigantic and esoteric draconic warp god soul that allows him to mingling into a Perpetual), even Magnus technically haven't die and only shattered to multiple pieces unless if it's given enough Psychic forces to be completely obliterated akin to Horus' warp god soul I think Majorkill's theory of Primarchs being lesser warp gods to how Emperor unintentionally fulfilled pre-humans Prophecy of The Dark King indicates that powers and destinies are interlinked to The Warp, hence Sanguinius and Conrad were struggling in their conversation of understanding how their Psychic abilities works, it's due to how The Warp mastery needs fundamental understanding in order to bend it, The Emperor takes shortcuts to reach what The Old Ones had but he's still only applies it to himself, the revelation of Star Child might acts as catalysts to accelerate Imperium's citizenry to evolved faster as Psychic yet warring race but with affinity to Imperial Cult/Creed (or at least the "Order" side of The Warp to counter Chaos Undivided and even the psychic festering of The Hivemind), it will shakes The Great Game from something of "playthings" by the 4 chaos gods, then twisted into existential threats by 4 chaos gods, Vashtorr might going to contribute as 3rd party to help destabilises 4 chaos gods and their Great Game permanently into genuinely threatening existential warfare for all psychic factions in The Warp, bridging both Immaterium and Materium further and allowing the perpetual wars in Warhammer 40K galaxy to happens simultaneously between two sides of the realm, hopefully it will have positive future lore ripple effects to make Eldar's factions and their lore stop sucking (by making them more relevant actors with Ynnead awakening or Khaine's splinters alongside Isha being transformed and empowered independently) all while making Gork and Mork doing something to both The tiring Great Game of chaos gods to the actual threats of Hivemind and Tyrannids
Just a thought, if Slaneesh has this paradox where its known when and how it was created but at the same time it has always existed because of how the warp is not constrained by time... What if the same is true for the part of the emperor that was cast out? It hasnt been 10 000 years, it has been forever. I wonder how much power could have been accumulated if thats the case
Re: people so quick to ask about the Emperor being an avatar or even deity of Law (aka Order) appears to me as Moorcock (or Moorcock inspired works) fans mistakenly seeing it as a dichotomy. Certainly parallels can be seen with both 40K and Moorcock's Chaos having the 8 pointed all directions symbol (ever expanding in all directions) but I can hardly see 40k's chaos to even be analogous to Moorcock's Chaos which ultimately results in fleeting fascination but no permanence. Moorcock's Law represents unchanging tactics and both are ultimately stagnant. The warp produces so many odd echoes of real space thoughts and feelings (see the T'au deity) that I'm more of the mindset to actually go with TTS's throw away line of the Emperor, during his Crusading days, being an evangelist for a deity of Unbelief or perhaps some other aspect of behavior. Certainly other deities must have appreciated the conquest he committed through violence, duplicity, and suffering. Back to Moorcock, though. I call Law vs Chaos a false dichotomy as the entry point for many Moorcock fans is usually Elric. Many will miss that many of Moorcock's eternal champion heroes ultimately serve balance at some point which may be overlooked for those who are there for the sword and sorcery. I also point to the first trilogy of Corum (another incarnation of the Eternal Champion) for whom while Law and Chaos had a rivalry, they were ultimately human concepts and dwarfed and destroyed by an alien deity named Kwll that served no outright goal that could be fathomed. However Kwll believed by slaying the pantheons of Chaos and Law, it freed humanity. I should also point out that Corum himself was also not human and had no concept of Law and Chaos and found it an oddly primitive religion by the primitive humans he encountered. I could buy that one of the label of chaos (and fan usage of law/order) being a human conceit.
Let the good guys win for once. Let the Emperor get off the throne and kick some chaotic ass. Even if chaos is defeated hate to be the one to tell yall the setting isn’t over. The necros stand in direct opposition to humanity ascending to become a psychic race like the aeldari. The Tyrranids want to eat everyone. And let’s be honest, Chaos will still be a thing until the webway is finished. The dark aeldar are still a problem too. Even if the Emperor gets up, it’s not over. It might in fact, only be the begining. The Second Great Crusade might well be upon us.
How is it that the Emperor suddenly is so emotionally weak that he has to cast aside his humanity in order to do what is obviously necessary...especially in consideration he's ordered the genocide of whole human populations in star systems just for being hesitant of letting him be the Boss? Like, c'mon, a generation or two ago, it wouldn't be uncommon for a teenaged boy to be called upon to put his dog down as an act of mercy. You telling me the Emperor is weaker than a teenager in this day and age, a day and age he apparently lived through as well? When they do all this romance novel stuff, it's completely incongruous with characters who have literally murdered billions of people without blinking an eye for thousands of years...and now they have 'compassion' holding them back? On the other side of it, it's pretty comedic.
the dark king is sat on the trone boys n girls the next saga will be a fight for the imperium for sure lion gilly and king in yellow * you know who .. all wanting to save it but all doing it from dif ways.. star child.. i think king in yellow knows more about this than anyone els atm
So, theory: The Star Child is going to bring about the fall of the Imperium. The Emperor cut off the parts of him that were the most human, and in doing so cast off his apotheosis. If the Star Child is wrapped in the shroud of the Emperor's Apotheosis, it would still become the Dark King as they thought the Emperor was about to become, but without the knowledge and wisdom he retained in order to understand the choices he had to make. In essence, he's given a toddler the equivalent of a psychic nuke and expects it work out. This has been further reinforced by other people's faith that everything will work out in the end, not necessarily in his love, but that things will be as they should be through the Emperor. In fact I wonder if Tzeentch smiled as the Emperor cast off his Apotheosis, knowing that by doing so he is damning the Imperium despite his then godlike intellect. He is letting the part that will become the next Chaos God be influenced by ten millennia of human suffering before it rejoins the part of him that can understand sometimes suffering is needed for safety. That sometimes a government must choose between aid for the ailing, or safety against the next threat. That limited time means you have to prioritise more people making it to tomorrow even if some people will be in unbearable agony.
Literal Space Jesus. Suffered on the throne for 10000 years for humanity's sins (and for his own). Will come back at the end times to save the faithful and destroy the 4 satans and their legions once and for all.
Ehhh, reflect? It is all about dillusional action maintained between humans so chaos can litterally go fuck itself as soon as they try to stirr anything - their plans get insta fucked & if that is not enough, then the Inquisition is enough? xD
This whole warhammer 40k storyline had better sort itself before I die. I dont want to die without knowing what happens with the emperor returning, because he's obviously going to return in some form or another. Nice vids thank you!
Before we were born it was made, when we were infants was it reïmagined, when we were in our prime was it unveiled and layed out even more. Yet when we are near death i fathom it will not be completely concluded yet. For it is a tale made of millennia of time. The 40k timeline and humanity its empire of man walks on zombified/petrified/comatose/dimly re-awakening... I'm 42 here, and i don't think it will ever be that the Emperor of mankind will step of the golden throne. Stuck as a sentient godlike entity with through his primarchial sons communicating vessel and actively ruling humanity maybe. But to walk among the stars would be the undoing of humankind's enemies, and that would be the end of our eternal game. For it is without end, amid the laughter of thirthsting gods ...erm.. players.
@@JKRavenBlood this Star Child/Cold Emperor on the Golden Throne seperated has a good few decades of story to run in it. Culminating, and in conjunction with multiple book series. And I am here for it! Just as I have been for the last 3 decades 🤷😏👌
I can bet that's the plot twist of Pandemonium (Beta novel 3): The King in Yellow is the Star Child, and not Valdor (which is at his side, of course), and his realm in the warp is a reminiscence of the imperium at its peak.
It’s possible that the Star Child is being empowered in the warp by worship, but the Emperor on the Throne is basically a machine that only survives through the ever growing tithe of psychers.
The throne has been failing it had a couple hundred years left and tge tech priests either don’t know or can’t remember how the support systems work that are used to help the trine last longer . The tech priests thought if they can’t do it. Maybe the dark Eldar can help after all they know the systems as they are Eldar Origins? If it doesn’t help I could get the throne blow up and then the Emperor will be able to “ die” then go through Apotheosis into godhood . After all the 10,000 years of praying from imperial citizens magnified by the throne, I could see the Emperor becoming so powerful if he ever does come back .
@@ZiGGi03 if I recall correctly, all parties involved in that plot thread of restoring the throne where killed. All knowledge of their work on the throne was lost with them. If the dichotomy of the emperors being is true, then restoring the throne would just prolong his state of being tied to his physical body. Upon his death, I assume that the new “Star Emperor” can handle the projection of the Astronomican on his own, using worship instead of psykers to power it. In a perfect world, the Big E would not power the Astronomican, and finish his work in the webway cutting humanities ties to the warp.
Gosh the story just keeps getting more and more engaging. This separation however worries me; the "good" part separated from the "bad" part might not be good at all. There is a story by an Italian author, Italo Calvino, called "il visconte dimezzato" (the halved viscount) in which the main character is cut in half in war, but somehow his two parts are kept alive. Problem is one of the two ends up containing all of the man's virtues while the other all of his vices. The two parts live separately, one committing crimes and atrocities and the other always striving for good and justice. Sadly though the "good" part, despite pure intentions, ends up always messing up because it lacks the balance and moderation of humanity, so the result is constantly overboard, ultimately hurting the people instead of helping them. This extreme dance of complete good vs complete evil continues until the two parts clash and duel, cutting each other open just in the right way to allow them to be put together again. The viscount is then whole again and the balance of things is restored, with the ruler of the land being a regular human with his virtues and flaws, as it should be. The Emperor looks very much like a halved viscount to me and I can't help but think the only way he can be truly good for the Imperium is as a whole, with his humanity fully intact, the good and the bad.
Perhaps the emperor decided to let the star child accumulate similar power to what the dark king would have had, however the emperor plans to absorb it before its born or even imminent to avoid the real threat of humanity dying in its birth fire. It even becomes a perfectly rational plan for the emperor to be just waiting for his opportunity despite the horrors necessary.
Something recently blew my mind - I think the way the emperor spoke to Guilliman reborn in the throne room was because each seperate shard of his consciousness spoke separately simultaniously. Also, the fact that he called Guilliman his last son/ tool/thing means that he ISN'T the one helping the Lion. That can only mean the emperor's last shard HAS to be the one responsible. That means it's on the wrong side of the rift and not in contact with the rest of himself on terra. So when Guilliman meets the Lion, the Shard will also meet the rest of himself, making that reunion infinitely more amazing!
or have someone unexpected set another important piece on the board, remember the Lion's sword is a key just like the heavenfall blades the angels have and its broken so why hasnt it been confirmed fixed yet? because the one to repair it wont do it until he's ready for that
The future seems interesting. We have, potentially, three Primarchs in the Warp, Corax, Russ, and the Khan. At least three in real space, Guilliman, the Lion, and Vulkan. Would be interesting to see them work together across that line to combine the two halves. As for the Golden Throne, it need a psychic focus after it was damaged so, it sustains the Emperor's physical body, while he powers the machine with his psychic might. Old lore was that it was draining him so, they started the 1,000 daily psyker tribute, right? I do like how we see the actual events of the fights versus the romanticized mythology of the Imperium. Horus vs Sanguinius was this heroic but doomed battle of brother against brother, but, then it's just Horus beating him into the ground.
Fr I dont read the books but the fact that sanguinis was only able to a put a chink in Horus's armour is insane and so is the fact that the emperor only managed to win thanks to that is bullshit
The Khan is in the webway, missing since he chased some Dark Eldar. There‘s also Dorn who‘s missing, not killed. And Omegon who‘s possibly loyal (but who can tell, it‘s Alpha Legion after all).
@@TheRaidenLP I left Dorn and Omegon out since we don't have a solid idea of where they are. Still debatable if Omegon is alive, IIRC. Or, are you replying to something I can't see?
@@Ewil.Bluetooth Old lore was that the Fists had his body encased in embery onboard the Phalanx. This has been retconned, only his hand was found on the chaos ship with Dorn missing in action. Now his hand is in stasis on board the Phalanx and every new chapter master of the IF inscribes his name on it.
I don't think the Emperor could've ever accomplished what he did without love. The biggest problem with it all was his lies about the supernatural. Love might explain this too.
The Emperor had a plan to be resurrected from the Golden Throne upon being reunited with the part of his soul that is The Star Child. And this plan was put into motion after he was finally able to communicate ‘directly’ with someone, around the time of the return of the Primarchs... So Bruva Alfabusa called it in TTS?
It was established a while ago that the Empire is for the sake of Humanity. The Emperor didn't see the primarchs and their soldiers as part of humanity. They were not to rule humanity, but protect and nurture it.
I think Valdor and Russ are the key components, one to heal the soul and one to heal the body. I mean part of me just wants a wiser Odin-like Russ in the setting, one that has had 10,000 years of hardship and isn’t afraid to use the Spear. I really do think Russ will have been imprisoned in Nurgles garden and tortured for millennia with the tree of life constantly healing him (how do you make a primarch killing plague without a test subject?). The Emperor empowered Guilliman burning the garden freed him. Next there’s the property of the two spears, I think this will be really important. Anyway this is all tinfoil hat speculation.
I think you're spot on with you idea on bring Russ back. Burning the Green Glade and hurting Nurgle my be the one-two punch needed to set the Russ story back into motion.
I just wrote something a bit similar myself in another thread. Because it did really look like Valdor and Russ together with Malcador sat a huge plan in motion in order to fix things before they went into the warp. The tree of life is that catalyst needed for the two parts to be able to become one again. Seems plausible imo. I don't know about this stuff you said about Russ trapped in Nurgles puss infested zits though. I thought there weren't any new information on his doings or whereabouts after he went into the warp to search for the cure. Do you mind giving me some cliffnotes about Russ kind Sir?
@@Ewil.Bluetooth the cliff notes are that it’s pure speculation/fan theory. It would make sense that the tree of life would exist in a garden dedicated to death decay and new life. Also, I think Russ fans want an older wiser Russ returning and being imprisoned in Nurgles Garden in a way apes Odin hanging from Yggdrasil in Norse legend. Him being in the Garden also ties him to his brother and makes the Emperors actions against nurgle more of a 4D chess move.
@@Nigelius Ok, I understand. I like the theory. The older wiser All-Father Russ especially. I would be let down if he completely stopped to go berserker mode every once in a while when the times call for it though. He's a warriors warrior after all. I don't see why the tree of life would have to be located in Nurgles death-domain though. Or rather I see your reasoning but I wouldn't prefer it. Imo I would think that the tree was placed in a paradise dimension untouched by the Chaos. It just feels better to me than it growing in puss and having bunches of nasty nurglings as gardeners. I hope that he hasn't aged as much as the Lion. I think they made Lion 20 years too old looking. I still have hope that they'll rejuvenate him. I mean, yes he should be older but not looking like a 70 year old dude. Anyway I hope that Russ comes back soon and that he and the Lion squash their "beef".
I also posted about the spears. Personally I hope they don't go full oden trope or ware wolf trope if Russ came back bit of both or just something new. They have kinda done the oden bit with the lion being all chill and forgiving now.
I'm convinced Lorgar would be a really good chaos primarch to come back, if only in a minor antagonist fashion, to "help" Guilliman understand what exactly the Emperor is now (in some interesting way, narrative-speaking). You'd have Guilliman-Lorgar as the B-plot and some other event going on as an A-plot.
The issue here is that it would require a little bit of a retcon, unless GW was willing to drop a narrative thread. Lorgar returning would bring back Corvus Corax. GW doesn’t seem to want to make it rain Primarchs, possibly because getting all the Primarchs active would be a build-up to the “end” of 40k - the return of the Emperor to lead the Imperium against the Ruinous Powers in a final showdown.
I like the idea that gulliman is confronting his traitor prothers like a series of trials over coming the elements of chaos individuality. Mortarian and Magnus have been defeated that leaves Angron and finally Fulgrim. If Bobby G over comes them all that shift in the balance of power could spurn Lorgar the embodiment of chaos undivided to emerge and lead his untied legion in numbers dwarfing the black legion out of the eye of Terror and embark on a second shadow crusade against imperium Sanctus. Lorgar failed to overthrow Horus this time he will lead a second siege of Terra with his brothers filling his lead. That would be a cool evolution of lorgars character.
So in regards to clearing the webway being a goal i believe it stems from the idea of if the emperor can get a break he should be able to heal himself as a perpetual and bring the other half of his soul to him after hes healed but then again perpetuals are so under explained in 40K so who knows
I always thought this was the case, that part of Big E was in the warp soaking up all the worship of man and basically becoming a newborn god. Happy to hear it confirmed and that this is where they are going. Would be awesome for Big E to return, just not sure if they will actually do it or not (or what twist will there be). Also it is possible that Constantine Valdor is serving the Star Child in the warp as the King in Yellow and the bastion is for the souls of the worthy dead as well as a base.
Don't think the Necrons want to make that mistake again. Last time they gave an intangible being beyond understanding a mortal form, they became slaves and chew toys for the aforementioned entities
Listening to this brought me the idea of what if the emperor on the throne wants to become the “Dark King” now that he has given away that piece of his soul that cares for humanity
Isn't Russ on a hunt for something to help the emps resurrection? Valdor was looking for his true name? Something like that, guess if Valdor is on the move then Russ won't be far behind, which means that the resurrection is next.
What if the custodes that still stand by the throne Emperor fight the Starchild and the Valdor's army as they believe only what they know and that the throne emperor's cold efficiency. while on the other hand Starchild and Valdor see what the empire has become and knows it's destruction will be the only thing that brings about humanity's survival. What if that's what finally breaks the imperium and allows it to divide into their owns codes and policies. Dumb but fun theory. Didn't watch all the way through yet so, my bad if you touch on it! Good stuff as always
I love the idea of a Star Child being reincarnated and leading to factionalism within the Imperium, especially since it seems the Star Child is the more compassionate and really human elements of the Emperor. It would be the part of the Imperium that values human life taking on the part of the Imperium that values the concept of humanity as opposed to individuals. Would be cool to see the heroes of Mankind take sides and maybe get some cool faceoffs. Would also love to see some Chaos Space Marines come around toward a Star Child who is more understanding of their plight. But I might just be saying that because I'm a Wordbearers fan.
@@TheDark1903 Well, think of anything you can't live without and imagine having it burnt to the ground and get harshly scolded for it in front of your entire community in an attempt to make you relinquish it forever. Having finally given up my own lifelong denial about my own religiosity and now searching where I belong, I can relate to lorgar and his legion in a way. But I don't like them for it before or after turning traitor. For one because they were assholes to begin with converting entire planets. For another, because I hate how fictional settings (those that I know at least) make no effort to understand religion or the people that feel genuinely and deeply called to it, or the diversity of religious thought, practice and philosophy outside of abrahamic faiths.
Please don't! I'm beyond tired of heroes fighting heroes. It's been such a tired and frankly boring trope in comics for so long. I sincerely hope that you're wrong. But really afraid that you're right. Imo there's more than enough Chaos demons and traitors for the loyalists to have epic fights for years upon years without having to go down the road of Gulliman vs Vulcan and Lion vs Corvus. 🤮 I say to that. No offense though 🙂
The part of him he shed off might go on to become a god or something. But because it literally bears no hate or ill will( it's basically made of love, hope, etc) towards humanity/the imperium, it'll be like a good god for humanity or something. And go on to help the imperium conquer all xenos and conquer the warp by uniting the forces somehow and then taking the fight to the tyranids. Idk I'm just rambling.
I like this story line... Its very similar to one that happened in Stargate SG1 with a special child called the Harcesis with all the genetic knowledge of the Goa'uld. The child was protected and hidden by an ascended being as it was hunted down by all the evil system lords as a number one threat.
Wait a god damn minute... isnt the warp the mixture of all human and nonhuman emotion? Isnt the "star child" also a good deal of his capability as a psycher? Cause well.... things without emotion have no soul, as the necros discovered. Ans blanks are famously lacking emotions... so... doesnt it make the current emperor on the golden throne a somewaht qeak psycher
If the gestating god from the Emporer's lost soul fragment is nurtured by humans' love as one of its aspects - and if the god zygote is also the pure virtue of the Emporer's compassion and one of its main aspects that would accept sustenance for gowth into maturity - then, due to the near complete lack of the second characteristic in the very nature of the WH40K universe, the Star Child may be born unfortunately stillborn. 🤔😮👀
Maybe in 10-20 years... Valdor looking for the true name of the Emperor through Enuncia while his buddy Leman Russ searches for the tree of life (Issha?) in the warp was always a fun rumor. The Emperor with his psychic might could implant memories.
Can you imagine something _good_ happening in the 40k universe? By Warhammer 50,000 it's going to be "in the hopeful brightness of the far future, there is only peace."
I remember reading about the Star Child in the old Realm of Chaos books many years ago. I loved the concept, and I’m really glad to see it coming back.
I keep toying with the idea that the Tyranids are a dream the Emporer is having and the Astronomican is manifesting. Mankind can survive all other threats but the nids. All the hive tendrils are connected to something that may be as massive as a galaxy. So the Emporer has to defeat the nids or the galaxy is lost.
I think Valdor might be serving the good part of the Emperor/the star child itself. If the part of the Emperor is put into a real child, then it would prevent him being able to put the two pieces back together. He can't be doing both, either it goes into a child or he wants to combine it with the rest to make it whole once more. I wonder if that good part wants to be combined again or not. As a warp entity, it can basically travel everywhere and aid wherever needed. It literally grows as people worship it. Does the heartless part think they are more effective as two separate entities?
Assuming that avoiding fulfilling the Dark King prophecy is one of his goals, it'd be sensible to split the power. One can be the ruthless tyrant, while the other embodied portion can temper his wrath and direct it constructively. Together they'd be stronger than any one of the chaos gods, but weaker than the overall pantheon. That's how balance is achieved, they can cooperate while none of the chaos pantheon is really willing to do so. (even if their followers do)
@@Kirhean I don't know much about the dark king prophecy, but couldn't it already be describing him on the throne as he is now? Heartless and Powerful?
@@turnipslop3822 My understanding is that the Dark King would be a full-stop Chaos God (presumably of tyranny). The new book supposedly has a plot point regarding him nearly fulfilling the prophecy and then rejecting the power of godhood and avoiding it. Some seem to think that the Prophecy is now targeting Lorgar.
The first Imperial Saints emerged at the very dawn of the Heresy, so perhaps the shard of the Emperor has the same relationship with time that Chaos does.
I think the setting is better at a glacial pace. The Primaris Marines and the Indomitus Crusade were very jarringly sudden. 'Oh yeah, this entire crusade happened and there is tens of thousands super upgraded marines.' It just felt way too hasty with no set-up. :(
@@beziik2357 I don't mind that, but they entirely skipped the telling of the story. It was just: "Ah yes, all of that happened." Especially the Primaris felt like a Deus Ex Machina. I do not mind progressing the story, but I also would like coherence. After the disappointment that other IPs have been delivering in recent years, I would be very sad if Warhammer, too, ruined its lore by being too hasty. Imagine the mystery tale they could have spun around all those secretive projects by Cawl, slowly revealing the truth. Could you imagine how exciting it would have been to slowly realize that Cawl might actually be tinkering with *gasp* Space Marine gene seed? "The heresy! How could he! What a shocking plot!" Lot's of story potential that went unused.
One question about one of your points, from what I understand, part of the downside of becoming a chaos worshipper was that the chaos gods now eternally own your soul. This always led me believe that "good" souls (of everyday people at least, not so much the space marines or other legendary members of the Imperium) went somewhere else outside the Warp, kind of like a heaven if you will. Because if demons and the chaos gods are going to devour your soul upon death no matter what you do, then why not join chaos to begin with and at least try to attain some power? It doesn't make any sense to me. Every single person before the Emperor entered the warp is just doomed otherwise, so what's the point?
And so it was, after thousands of years, my friend became whole again, and then wept, like the small child he never was. And I pitied and comforted, and blamed, and judged, and in the end, validated, for his choice was the wrong one, they only choice he could have picked if humanity was to endure!
I really enjoy your videos more when you’re just talking normally and theory crafting, the dramatic music and dramatic voice just don’t work for me. The last half of this video was genuinely so much more enjoyable.
Valdor was probably sent out to find his other half. Valdor did and this pocket world is very similar to what dimensions horus made. But if the starchild is born, its the new body for the emperor on the golden throne
This happens before the final fight with Horus, right? If so, that seems to somewhat contradict what we know about that fight. The Emperor ends up being so badly wounded because he somehow cannot get himself to use his full power against Horus. Because he can't make himself kill one of his sons. Until, of course, he's finally convinced that Horus is truly lost and that he has no choice. So it seems that he still has feelings right up to the point where he's put into the Golden Throne. Also, I'd be quite curious as to how that might interact with what we see in the old Inquisition trilogy where the Emperor's souls is fractured into many different parts. Sure... You can say that any inconsistency is just a result of imperial propaganda. Or just the fact that Games Workshop can't keep their own story consistent. Or simply don't care...
Why the Emperor killed Horus and excised a part his own soul to prevent his own ascent and the victory of Chaos? For the Greater Good? Not the ideology of the T'au Ethereal caste, just the god(des) that is forming now and want to grow and expand.
I think the biggest problem with the Dawn of fire books is the some of them are very hit or miss. (Iron kingdom was fucking trash and I'm angry I bought it.) If there was more balance to who wins and loses I think it would be better, but the characters definitely aren't on the same level of being compelling as others.
I think Iron Kingdom is just one of those hit or miss novels that definitely just missed. I mean, looking at the Heresy novels, you have handfuls ld exceptional entries, and then you have some like The Outcast Dead that set up some stuff but at the same time are just a slog (Not to mention the lore problems. Looking at a specific world eater that punches through a custodes chestplate and a thousand sons psyker that has access to any ability he wants) But that's just how it is with all the different authors we have.
Well the Emperor is really the greatest Man of Gold AI from the Golden Age of Tech. Starchild is probably his AI backup program that in the warp has managed to alter enough warp energy to make his saints and perform miracles. So once his backup program is restored to the physical body he will strong enough to fix himself up and also control enough warp energies to finish the webway portal
I love the idea of the plot moving forward, honestly i will never understand those people who don't want the story to evolve and progress, the only thing i can imagine is that the story moving forward would kill their own self-inserts hence why they don't like it
The plot has been moving, much faster than in the last two decades. This is GW's money maker, if they decide to fast forward to the end times, that's it, no minis, no novels, no lore, no business. The bottom line is the business. Why cut off your nose to spite your face? This universe will continue to march at the beat of GW's drummer🤷♂️
@@noobatgames3321I don’t disagree that the End Times were poorly handled, but people were complaining about 40k’s storylines progressing way before that. Mostly old timers who want 40k to return to the old days when Horus was the only known Primarch, the Emperor was just a set piece for the setting, and stories were focused on successor chapters, Imperial Guard, xenos, and of course, Chaos. People forget that Guilliman’s return wasn’t really a huge deal at the time. Mostly there was complaining that a loyalist Primarch would overshadow chapter masters, etc.
@@noobatgames3321Using the end times as an excuse to keep lore stagnant is kind of lame though. I'm only still interested in Warhammer because it has moved forward...
That'd be an easy way of avoiding "combining the Emperors soul and him stepping off the golden throne more powerful than ever." Just like humanity always has been you would have the hope for humanity in the Star Child, created by humanity, as well as the End of humanity the Dark King, created by humanity.
Surely the Emperors goal was to use enuncia to "save humanity"... 20 pillars, 20 priests in the Tower of Babel, 20 super beings to help wield it (primarchs). So Valdor is reassembling it and it can be used, presumably, to also make the emperor whole again.
Do we think Leman Russ’ story arc of going to look for the tree of life to save the emperor will get rolled in to, or be retconned by him looking for the Star Child? Either way seems like a possible story arc to bring Russ back.
I think Russ fix the tree as the McGuffin tool that makes it possible for the parts of the Emperor to become whole again. Russ, Valdor and Malcador put that plan in motion before Russ and Valdor went exiles into the warp. I'm also hoping that Khan and Vulcan has some part in the plan as well. That they're fixing the webway.
What if the Emperor sent Russ to look for Isha ( Tree of Life ) to help heal him. I find it hard to believe the Emperor doesn't know Isha is held captive by Nurgle.
@@Damien_N Oh I wouldn't say that. I think he WAS the first choice, but Mortarion being such a butthurt lil' bee-atch didn't sit well with Nurgle. Especially when Typhus is the one doing exactly what Nurgle expected Morty to do.
What if in a round about way the Emperor created the seed for a god of light, Lorgar created the environment for it to flourish in, and one day the Emperor will be rejoined to that fragment of his soul, allowing him to ascend to godhood without becoming the Dark King. Edit: The reason the Emperor seems so evil............he's Voldemort. I just had Major K moment, Guilliman + Yvraine = Blank Child, Valdor steps in says some enuncia and presto digitalization.
Valdor will make his way into the throne room with his army, then will stab the emperor and says “no more lies”….then figures out the or “a” plan of the emperor. Then he will go on his campaign to make it or something similar to happen.
One of the background questions that could impact on this, because it shapes the intention of the narrative: ' Are the two halves aware of / in contact with each other?' if the Big E has some sort of awareness of himself, it gives shape to a lot of things. A way to be of the influence of a God without ascending to Godhood. A way of surrendering his best self, without truly giving up a compassionate impact on the universe, a way of remembering himself but letting go of himself in a moment where he felt he had to, as heartbreaking as it was. It would explain Guilliman's sense that there was a great effort to pull himself back together just long enough to speak more clearly to him. It speaks also to why there are so many interpretations of the Emperor by Psyker's and powerful beings in the 30k and 40k setting. So many legitimate followers of the imperium who believe the Emperor to be a wise but brutal hard-task-master, and others who see him as a loving and aware father of all, and some he see him as a distant, dispassionate, but bountiful provider - and all of those being able to draw legitimate strength and power from their interpretations. The Fact that the Emperor, already a very complex and unknowable being, who had some of his humanity diluted by his bargainings with the Warp Powers and chains of practicality, had to further divide himself to avoid Godhood and disaster, yet those divided halves still having some thin tether back to each other,..... it would lend some extra credence to certain parts of the law, and such disparate paths of faith still having effective impact.
Powering the throne with dedication and love would be good news for all those psykers!! I thought that the Emperor had always been distant and harsh with the Primarchs though? Doesn't the lore suggest they have always been viewed foremost as tools and that the desire for respect/love is a carrot to push them? If you think about it, the primarchs and E arent even really the same species. I don't think the E could lead mankind through all this war without being objective and emotionless. Personally, I don't think that the plotline will be so literal, or that we'll even see a categorical resolution to this. I don't think happy endings or plotlines that make humanity better-off are very fitting for 40k. Something would surely go wrong? This is grimdark! Great vid! Well thought out and presented. Interesting concept to explore. Thanks. I will listen to more.
So kind of wondering something. Since it seems the "Star Child" part of the Emperor is responsible for many of the miracles humanity has experienced, but sure the pragmatic part of the Emperor that sits on the Golden Throne must also be active and using his powers as well. Could it be that the "Living Saints" and similar miracles are from the "Star Child", and that the "Legion of the Damned" is the GTE influence and power? Since they seem somewhat different in their approach and humanity/lack of humanity? Also gotta love that Chaos's great plan of creating the Rift and flood the galaxy with the Warp has had unintended consequences, and could possibly lead to their own downfall :)
Maybe, for Valdor, that the BigE asked to be wounded by the spear to give the knowledge for the whole yellow king plot. For the time travel point, imagine that they have to push Lorgar to believe in the divinity of the Emperor because it's the lectitio divinitatus that bring the power to the Starchild. Not the first heretic anymore huh?
Listening to this: Emperor cast aside his Hope, Loyalty and Compassion. For some reason I am equating this to the Primarchs:- Hope - Guilliman. Loyalty - The Lion Compassion - Vulkan ??? Will Vulkan be the next primarch to return?
Don't know if this has been asked or speculated on but - as an RG and knowing at least a piece of what Corax is now, if it is Manus or Dorn leading the Legion of the Damned - are these Primarchs now Saints as much as St Celestine is. Corax tells Lorgar he is what he always was - the Emperor's Justice (he is winged as well. His metallic looking wings yes but every form speaks of his wings, more than just would as ravens IMO.) Corax always had a 'human' relationships with the Emperor- even maybe having seen his human form when they met... A lot of disperate threads i know but could the influence of the Starchild part of the Emperor not only bemoving the Imperium as you described but also making Saints of his sons in the Warp like Corax, Manus, Dorn, and penulimately, Sanguinius, as the Chaos Gods made daemons of his other living sons in the warp. (Does waiting on you comment in the fight against Horus mean he is even guarding the main piece of Horus soul too since it wasn’t destroyed.)
I think Valdor IS serving the emperor he knew and loved, or rather that part of him. Valdor is defending and taking direction from that part of his souls, just as Malcador spoke with the fragment of Magnus’s soul. Perhaps the grails are the remnants of failed bindings with the Star child. Valdor is trying to merge the fragment with a blank,a pure vessel to receive that piece of the emperor. They’ve all failed, though, and when they fail they become grails.
It would be interesting if the Star Child were born only to immediately fall into the hands of the Tau, Hrud, Rangda or Rak'gol. Some alien species (other than the all-too-friendly Eldar or the few that immediately kill all humans like Tyranid, Necrons and Orks) captures the only hope for humanity and weaponizes him against the Imperium.
OMG, this is the end of 40k, a starchild is gonna be a woman who is key to everything, Emperor needed a part of his soul to be reborn as a woman (who is a key to everything), OOOO NOOOOO, PLEEEEEEASE NOOOOOO
So what body would be able to hold this thing? I imagine that the star child continues to "snowball" in power after its exorcism, and was likely far too large for a normal custodian body to host to begin with, so what would be able to host such a gigasoul and still be trusted to lead humanity?
All the recent discussion of the Star Child takes me to another Dan Abnett golden boy, Brin Milo ++++ Slight Gaunts Ghost Spoilers +++ ++++ Brin had his precognition alluded to in the beginning of the series, he saved then seemed to shepherd Gaunt during his early career with the Ghosts, then he saw Saint Sabbat reborn, and iirc, he watched the original vessel die,and she took a big interest in him as part of her retinue, as now with the first prequel book, he has the oroborus tattoo what means the secret cult of Tanith is at play. Is Brin Milo a segment of the emperor's soul? He's a positive lad who seems to cheer up the men when he plays his pipes, is it just music or other influence the poster boy of the First and Only?
I'm very new to the Warhammer universe, but after listening to virtually all of your videos a few times here's my potentially stupid theory as to how The Emperor beats Horus... What if The Emperor during the fight believes in the Godhood part of his soul/himself that went off into the warp. That it's his faith or his will (which none may outmatch) that empowers him to be able to kill Horus.
