Quality is mediocre - the walking animation is rough - the lighting is pretty flat - textures are passable. They had a great background artist. Also the character design in terms of height and proportions is really off. For an indie studio it was amazing. Yet compared to Blizzard the video would a Proof of concept video in their standards - which is just used as a rough test for their primary work.

I'd like to hear more about the proportions and height being off, since I followed the official Protoss anatomy right down to the molecule when building Zerash. Other than animation, hybrid and Zerash's armor, I'm responsible for everything in this and I'd like to hear your feedback in more detail. What makes the lighting flat? Do you have an example shot where you can point that out? What makes textures passable? Let's get to the bottom of this.

freespace87 From 1:00 to 1:25ish Where the character is using the altar the way the scene is shot in proportion to the world ended up making the character look like a dwarf \ lego figure. The 1/3 rule - which is generally keeping the target in focus while cutting some elements would help fix it. Though the rule is applied so nicely to most of the video just that portion went off. As I said earlier for a small studio its a great piece of work. Some issues here and there prevent it from reaching that top tier..

Thanks for your thoughts. He is intentionally small in those shots, so as to showcase the scale and mysticism of the architecture. I'm happy the rule of thirds are noticed in the rest of the shots.

Okay so I don't know Starcraft, but I just summarised this to my friend as a Halo Elite with the voice of Optimus Prime and the teleportation of Nightcrawler using a Kryptonite Key to unlock a Forerunner structure and killing a monster with a Lightsaber.

As for the lightsaber, okay that's true star wars was released in 77. But to be fair, that's the first time I have ever seen that kind of weapon in starcraft. normally the protoss use wrist energy blades.

elgato9o I do like games. I've never played them enough to consider myself a gamer though. Someone I'm following posted this, which is how I came here. By "I don't know StarCraft" I meant that I didn't know about the gameplay, the franchise's history, its story etc. I *had* heard of it, and seem some cinematics and trailers over the years, but that was it really it. I thought an outsider's perspective on this may be amusing to some.

It's probably because he doesn't have the "Limp" walk that most Protoss have. While in SC cinematics they tend to bob up and down while moving, his gait is rather smooth. Starcraft Cinematics also tend to not show Protoss Walking.

i dont know what "limp" off and other amputee stuff ppl here talking about, but i see that he protoss doesnt use his toes, no one of them, his own and cybernetic legs acting the same. His walking and run exactly as if human does on the heel only. Just try it yourself both walk and run, you even feel funny for a moment.

The creator is called Ryan Winzen. He posted a video of him playing his own mod called "World of Starcraft" back in 2011. The reactions of the starcraft fans at the time were tremendous and everyone wanted it to complete. However, the video was put down after Blizzard's personal request to Ryan. Fans of this mod were demoralised but Blizzard had done this so that Ryan could finish the mod in secret and invited him to the Blizzard Headquarter. After the visit Ryan asked for funding from the fans and the Blizzard. And after 5 years, he finally finishes it with this amazing cinematic trailer.

Impressive! Love the Starcraft Universe. Whether it be lore, or gameplay, it's captivated me since i was little. Awesome to see community made content at a production quality to match Blizzard's itself.
