G'day mate, so happy to see you are having a great time. Victoria has beautiful green everywhere. So errr.. some places you might enjoy seeing, it's been a long time since I was in Victoria, I'm an old crow eater (South Aussie), On the way into Victoria, if you can, go via The Great Ocean Road (the worlds largest war memorial for all those we lost and fought in the 1st World War). An area that always struck me as very beautiful is an area generally referred to as Kelly Country after Australia's most famous/notorious Bushranger (outlaw) Ned Kelly (my grandmother was a friend of Ned's mother). Glenrowan is probably the most famous area where Ned was involved in a shoot out that resulted in his all his gang being killed and some civilians, Ned wore a home made suit of bullet proof armour (quite the sight). Beechworth is a heritage listed town around that area that you might enjoy checking out, also Milawa (same area) which has some nice wines (not as good as South Aussie wines [the Barossa Valley best premium wines in Oz] but still very good) , cheese, food etc. There is of course way more than this to check out before you reach Melbourne but I haven't been there in 40 years so my info is somewhat dated lol. Melbourne it's self has got mega stuff to see and do but a few suggestions. You are here in Footy season so going to see an Aussie rules footy match at the MCG is (I think) a must. Queen Victoria market. Lots of night life (if you feel like a bit of partying), art galleries, awesome coffee culture basically pick a café (there all good, well 99%) and chill. St. Kilda (beach town) pier. Luna Park, a fun park, side shows, Rolla Coaster etc. Puffing Billy is a steam train ride through beautiful forests. Ballarat/Sovereign Hill a gold rush town (mid 19th century, the largest gold rush on Earth), maybe a bit touristy for some, perhaps, but still interesting and enjoyable. Phillip Island wild life (including the morning [get up early] and evening penguin parade (cuteness overload). See if you can find some of the silo art (massive paintings on grain silos) in the country side. Healesville Sanctuary (about an hour or so out of Melbourne) walking trails and wildlife such as koalas, kangaroos, platypus, dingoes, wombats, emus, birds and more. What I've put here really only catches a small part there is so much to see. If you can afford it take the ferry (includes room for your car) to Tasmania for simply stunning untouched natural beauty (I think about half the Island is World Heritage listed). Sometimes the crossing can be a bit rough though (sea sick), but absolutely worth it. Hope that gives you a few ideas and I have no doubt you are going have memories from this road trip that will live with you forever as some of the best times of your life, looking forward to you seeing my state as well (first stop Mt. Gambia, sink hole swimming, volcanic crater, Blue lake.) Cheers.
If you thought the coast in the southeast was amazing, wait till you hit the Cliffs on the Nullabor and the coastline in Southwest Western Australia from Esperance to Denmark.
I had to have double take as it sounded very much like u said Iguanas which we don't have here.. I then realised you said goanna's .. here's a tip, we pronounce it like it's hyphenated Go-anna .. really enjoyed the video
You can't go wrong with the LandCruiser. That's a top choice for traveling around Oz. So jealous seeing the places and the good time you're having. I have a school mate that traveling around Oz and they are now over in WA. Maybe one day I'll get a set up and do some traveling of my own. But for now I'm stuck working in a car dealership. Oh also I work at Toyota so pm if ya need some help and I'll see what I can do for you two. You two are such a great couple. 👍 Love your vids so far. 😎
Ahhhh that’s good to hear!!! Thank you so much, we will definitely do that. And I can only encourage you to do something like that, there’s so much of your beautiful country to discover!
Easter holidays coming up Friday 7th through to Monday 10th - check for availability on where you plan to be as a lot of places will be booked out. as well as ANZAC day in April 25th. Have fun.
Victoria is the smallest state so its a good time to go inland and get used to different types of landscapes/nature- giving you a bit of preparation for the bigger states. Be careful driving at sunset or sunrise as kangaroos crossing the road can be a hazard
I have been to Wilson’s Promontory and I loved it so much . I even saw wombats walking on Squeaky beach . There are tours in Australia that refund 50 percent of your money if you don’t see dolphins . I never go on those tours because I have seen dolphins in the sea anyway . Thank you for your beautiful video .
