@@TacklingTheGiants so sometimes I’ll do a beer can chicken and smoke them. A lot of times I’ll break the chicken down into breasts, thighs, legs and just cook them with whatever. If I let them grow too long the males can get a little tough and then the crockpot is the best bet.
@@southernyankeeinnovations thank you. So your happy with the Delaware overall? No problems with them? Good meat and egg laying? Check all the boxes or is there anything lacking? Have you found any other breed you think is better?
@@TacklingTheGiants they’re not as bulky as say a Cornish cross but the rooster is great he doesn’t bother myself or the kids. I’d count on an egg every other day for the most part sometime more sometimes less per bird. Fertility has been good with my incubation. It is a little more flavorful than a cornish.
@@TacklingTheGiants no problem. I did start with hatchery birds and they are not the same quality as the birds I have now. Definitely worth the initial investment on good quality birds. Bred to Perfection podcast by Kenny T. Has a lot of good information.
