This is very much a parody. It's a terrible parody, but a parody nonetheless. Nobody's saying it's good when they say it's a parody. The mere fact of it being a parody is not even in dispute.

All the pop culture references made this look some dumb. Like the Nostalgia Critic said about parodies, they are funny if they were altered into "what if this happened instead" without straying too far from the original source. Blazing Saddles was funny because it was a western parody throughout out most of the movie and there were little to no pop culture references. This trailer would have been if they parodied both Hunger Games and Battle Royal and the jokes would make sense only in the context of the movie itself.
