@@p4rt_t1me_g0d a lot of ladies were missed and omitted. Women been a integral part of hip hop since its birth 50 years ago. This is just a very condensed version post the commercialization and hyper-sexualization of hip hop.
Vanilla Ice also spoke about how much he hated "Ice Ice Baby", as he was essentially forced to create a novelty record, which was in stark contrast to what he was creating prior to that. It's always the most unconscious shit that gets the most air time.
And Fox was better lyrically yes Jay wrote her first 2 albums but her pen was sharp by Broken Silence she went crazy. Yes she looked fly but she had bars and could spit.
The only female mentioned in male rappers music is Nicki minaj. The only one in this day and age is Nicki minaj. In the past, it would have been Lauryn Hill and Nicki minaj.
What sets Nicki apart from current female rappers and even the ones right before her is the fact that her discography is versatile as hell. She has songs about sex, she has somes about being a bad b*tch, she has songs about how she looks good BUT she also has songs about heart break, the struggles she goes through in her life, being a boss, being the best female rapper to ever do it, etc. And that’s one of the many reasons why the industry hates her and has to paint a picture about her that has never been true and anyone who pays attention to the way people talk about her they can tell that what the media and haters say completely contradict it. Nicki can make a song about sex one week then make a song about a break up the next the new girls can’t do that because they care more about money then speaking about who they are as an actual person
I totally agree with video. I grew up in the 80s when rapping was about skill. But now, these people have no talent and will say anything. Its really disgraceful.
It sucks brother!!! Especially if you got a deep love for orginal hip hop. Nas was right HIP HOP is dead. Us "old heads" will never get that real shit ever again.
That’s literally everything now though. You don’t have too smart, talented or anything to succeed in anything anymore. Just the right story and people behind you. All it takes is one viral video and you’re the new IT for whatever- music, acting, painter, athlete, comedian whafeve
@@bradenharris8718I feel like there’s some pros and cons. People want an easy rise to success which is what we got but it’s often overshadowed by people who rose to success over night with no type of real talent (or at least music rise)
I'm 46 years old and I've lived thru every era of rap and without a doubt the current era is the absolute worst rap has ever been and I put the majority of the blame on the fans because it's the fans who help elevate these so called artists. Look what happened to guys like Vanilla Ice, MC Hammer, Tone Loc and others who crossed over; they were deemed as sellouts and the fans rejected their music whereas now fans are like yeah the worst the better and it's sad. The only way for music to get back to how it was is for the fans to reject their music and get back to supporting good lyrical artists with good messages
old hip-hop was influential and all but it’s just so obviously dated and boring, lyrics with nothing behind them, repetitive flows, and especially the tiring instrumentals with no switchups. I think hiphop only ever got really good in the 90s, and has been increasing in quality ever since.
Today's rap ( call it rap because it ain't hip hop!) is garbage! Making up words, screeching and screaming inaduoiable tones, while rapping about nonsense like the house and cars you're renting, the women you pay to sleep with and simp for and fake beefs with unknowns or social media gangsters. WTH is that!? Eric.B and Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Tupac, MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre, these are hip hop artists and creators who can't be topped. Nas, Jay-Z who the hell is making better music than them? Nobody! New artist are here today gone tomorrow Internet sensations. You'll never see one of them in a verses battle unless they go against one the trash artist that are out now and nobody's watching that. Run DMC, LL Cool J, EPMD these are giants. Play Paid in full or Microphone fiend or I ain't no joke! That's transcendant hip hop. New artist rap about the same thing money, women and clothing it's played out and tired. Where's the originality? One get tats on his face the other gets tats on his face. Really! Walking around looking like a New York subway car with graffiti spayed on it. I'm glad this music ain't hitting on sh*t it needs to die so some new artist can get it back on track. We need more Kendrick Lamars and less of the trash that's out now. That's why rap is in the toilet with no hits and hip hop is on life support because nobody today is hip hop it's crap rap! ⚡
First female empowerment song was from Sha-Rock, Debbie D and Lisa Lee US girls in 84. The first female rap group with a gold record was The Sequence in 79. After that came lyricism with Roxanne Shanta and Spark D. Than MC Lyte and Antoinette. Tell the whole story…
I hate the image female rap gives and free will is important and we should not deny the fact that all these women have it but we can not deny that men have a hand in the promotion of this sick image. Back in the day there were men such as producers, executives, fellow artists and even the consumers of music promoting Queen Latifah, Lauryn Hill, etc. Nowadays men promote and push the oversexualized female rappers and men never fawn, make videos or even listen to women like noname, mereba, Tierra Whack, etc. men will promote a Ice Spice over the ladies I just mentioned who are genuinely talented and can outrap men and women in the game. I once saw a video of Nicki admitting that the men that she would work with (men like Wayne) ultimately influenced her to alter her body because they would praise the sexualised artist. I’m just saying that men have a role to play in this too, I’m not trying to absolve women of their responsibility to do better. Like Latto was actually lyrically good when she was a teenager on the show: The Rap Game. In my opinion she rapped circles around men older than her but she wasn’t supported by the men in the industry outside of her dad until she started sexualising herself.
The fake that Young Thug said something as little as not wearing nail polish slowed his career down should tell us everything we need to know about the industry.
My guy this one was definitely a banger. In regards to the lauryn hill lyrics do you think she could have been controlled opposition at the time because I noticed heavy occult symbolism in the “that thing” video such as the “33” sign when they had the block party
I’m sure it does. The use these people’s energy over and over… I went down a gematria rabbit hole with Michael Jackson , Latto and Mariah…. The numbers correlated just like when labels get more money once artist dies these other artist use there energy as well.
@@HoustonsESTIEwithmotionnot just artist kim k using Marilyn Monroe’s dress and they gave her Marilyn’s hair she said she’ll do voodoo w it I think she’s harvesting Marilyn’s energy

Sorry but dont ever disrespect nicki minaj she paid for my college tuition and built many homes for the needy no rapper is doing that male or female nicki can actually rap and just doesn’t talk about her body its not her fault those songs got more popular u just need to listen i say cardi b ruined female rap once she came in labels only wanted very raunchy women
One thing as an Nicki Minaj fan I hate is when people pin Nick down it’s just a sexual being or she’s all for physical appearances and that I think Nikki did start a more sexual trend but even then people like little Kim and other female rappers, have always been sexual like a foxy Brown Nikki just took it to a height that none of them saw. another thing Nicki Minaj pushed female rap to such a higher standard lyrically and music, sonically wise with her albums and her features and alter ego, and even fashion wise, there was no other way to break down Nikki‘s statute, and rap, them to bring other girls who had less talent you can’t always find a Nicki Minaj or Lauryn Hill.
@@bestb9110 CLOCK IT! They will say Nicki is the creator of the coochie rap but turn around and say Lil Kim is better... like which is is because kim cant go a song without sex
She has the most number ones for a female rapper, longest, charting, female rapper album, most streaming rapper album most certified sales female rapper, most certified diamond, female rapper
The thing you neglect to say is yeah male artists talk violence, but females don’t have the Nas or Scarface equivalent. They don’t have someone who tells you the good and bad of a lifestyle. They(female rappers) never discuss what are the downsides of the 304 lifestyle. They don’t talk about diseases, assault, being possibly trafficked, or getting pregnant and being left
Honestly, that's great feedback right there and something I wish I put more attention towards. I appreciate that input, and it's something I'll be sure to consider in the future. Thanks for watching 🙏🏽
Music in general is mid to poor. Once a genre of music gets accepted into the consciousness of the mainstream, 2 primary factors take place. First, the dumbing down for easy digestion or "popification." Everything from simple catchy beats to simpleton lyrics. Next, in order to be heard within a desensitized sea of mundane music, artists in these realms have to do use shock and awe to become relevant. There is very little incentive for artists to remain unique besides integrity. I blame the audience.
Backlash and possible repercussions from the artists themselves and those that support them. It's about money as Cardi stated. How can they justify that when her daughter is older. It's not just entertainment.
@@bizlady7566 I figured because the artists as a whole don’t, the “sheep” don’t…. But it’s no excuse I always said that the people could change all of this overnight
lmao cardi should be on the thumbnail she was what made it disgusting and open the gates to everything but talent in the rap game. after 2017-2018 you saw the downfall.
Nicki Minaj (despite her talent) was the appetizer for what Cardi did down the line. What female rap needs is a whole reset, which Nicki and let alone Cardi shouldn't be apart of.
@@arseeoliveira6934Nicki is the STANDARD and is the only reason why female rap is even being a topic of conversation. She’s the most talented, most versatile and most lyrically skilled female rapper and must always be apart of female rap
I generally agree with the opinions of this video, but I've never been a Nicki Minaj fan... I've never thought she was good. I unironically think Cardi is a better artist. I think the sexual or rachet rap has a place, it can be fun. But I think the issue is that the rachet side completely dominates female rap, with little room for more genuine rap from female artists.
Another excellent video!! The people responsible for the social programming that's going on in some of the videos, and especially some of the lyrics, you've shown here are the worst of the worst of "humanity." I know this is a super trite thing to say, but it's true so I'm going to say it - Yuri Besimov said they're going to destroy us from within and this hyper sexualization and glorification of violence is doing the trick pretty damn well. Unfortunately, this is only one of many ways it's being done, but it's a really important one. Thanks very much for your informative videos!! Ciao!! 🙂 🙋🏻♀️ PS - you asked the rhetorical question, "Is it the artist or the machine behind them?" It's the machine. No question about it.
You Tube has changed everything about music. It free . Rap music back then you had to buy, so artists put in hard work to get you to buy. Not so much as a anymore.
I miss 90's rap like Jurassic 5 and The D.O.C. Nowadays, when you listen to oldies like that people say you have terrible taste as they listen to "Kodac Black" or "Kendrick Lamar". as a 15yo that is constantly around late gen z and gen alphas, i agree that the industry is definitely deteriorating into something it shouldn't turn into. people constantly say im weird because I prefer the oldies over drill or trap music and say that my taste is trash because I listen to Jurassic 5 and Linkin Park and Czarface. its especially infuriating as someone who is trying to get into the electronic music industry, yet edm is constantly overlooked as "obscure" or "mediocre" even though those same people would've probably loved it before modern rap took the whole music industry like a symbiote or something. i feel like its mostly ego too, since non-drill rap and edm is considered as "pu55y music" like someones taste determines their strength or lifestyle since kids nowadays want to be nothing but hustlers and robbers that get all the women and shit like that. forgive the rant, i totally agree and wish someone would change the toxicity and overall shittification of today's music.
Personally, I nor the fans or industry view her as a rapper, but rather a pop artist. Thankfully, I've talked about doja briefly before in another video, but ya that's why she wasn't added tbh...
I love how yall only use the very few sex songs nicki has, out of context clips, and talk about her personal life but never about talent its crazy how the standard changes
"Ratchet" Rap exists because of Men. There, I said it. Hell, even Lauren Hill, MC Lyte and Queen Latifah have been sexualized in different ways and they weren't ratchet.
@@kooldawg no, she doesn't. she gave yall a cute and kooky image the first 4 years of her career that yall downplay and then say "Anaconda mv is bad 😢" as if there isn't a literal stripper in the game.
you’re weird for even adding that clip for views about nicki. LATER IN THAT VIDEO she explained how she doesn’t do coke. nicki has always shown female rappers love since the comeup dvd. including the women who she’s had beefs with. now for her husband, he had no other choice than to register on the list because he was a broke 16 year old he couldn’t afford a plea & jennifer hough only said lies when she found out nicki was dating him (MONEY PURPOSES) there’s even clips about her explaining it on youtube. and nicki has always been body positive. People that says hip hip is dead either people that into Mainstream music (a.k.a pop) or just hating hip hop. Go search underground stuff. There's a lot of potential there.

As a young adult male who grew up in poverty in one of the worst areas of the South, I get what you're saying about Drill but that sort of thing's been around forever man, and more blatantly associated with esoteric topics. You mentioned Gangsta Boo which leads me to believe that you're at least a little familiar with the Memphis Rap/Alt Southern Rap. You should really look into it and talk about it man, as bad as Drill is, I don't think any subgenre of rap will ever touch Memphis rap, especially when you get into the obscure stuff and the sigils. Love your content man, keep it up, and God bless.
Appreciate the love, bro, and yeah, it's true that many are born into an environment that is surrounded by negativity. I definitely want to do a video on Memphis rap, as I completely agree. Although they have talent, the subject matter of Memphis horror core is wild and worthy of a video 💯
Good evening: Women don't need no man to survive, I don't even know why ppl think we do. Now ppl would say Nikki Minaj, Cardi or Meg thee Stallion cuz that's who the biggest female rappers. A lot of women got so brainwashed into thinking those the only 3 female rappers alive. Well it seems..!! Also depends on what generation. Alot of male rappers do sound a little soft & feminine. It's actually horrible. I feel so bad for this generation. They don't get to experience real true hip-hop & the great female rappers. Who even started "Body Positivity" thing..??

I do think it's kinda upsetting that they push women's bodies over lyrics. That's a big reason why I started music. Bc female rappers have this stereotype of twerking, men, & drngs. Which is fine, but I try to rap abt other things. 🖤
I agree with you 100%, I've been saying this for awhile now, women need to take a lesson from old school rap and find something else to rap about beside their body and getting the bag and playing men, it's time to stop being so retched. They are not setting good examples for our young ladies listening to this music. If this all that they can rap about, it's a sad day in rap music for women. I love rap music but not this new school rap. Ladies show the world that you have some class about yourself and show our young girls out here to keep it classy!
Today's rap music so different than 80's 90's and 2000s Rap music it won't be the same again 😢❤ I love them all so much and god bless their family their friends and also their fans all around the world 🌎 🙏 ❤ 😊😢 and they all are in my heart forever and ever ❤😊😢
Men penning for and with women is nothing new…Roxanne Shante who was dope off the dome had hits penned by Big Daddy Kane, and Kool G. Rap, MC Lyte got help at sometimes from Audio Two, Ice Cube helped YoYo, and Queen Latifah got a lot of help from Apache-RIP. Alot of these new chics are mundane and wouldn’t be able to sit through an entire album. Lil Kim is the blueprint for the commercialized hyper sexual female rapper, but I implore you to go back further to the early 90’s with artists like H.W.A(Hoez Wit Attitudes) and trio out of Chicago who were signed to Eazy E’s Ruthless label, B.W.P(Bytches Wit Problems) a due out of NY who were signed to Def Jam and Choice one of the most raunchiest female rappers ever signed to Houston’s Rap-A-Lot label…all these ladies pre-dated Lil Kim and were xxx rated.
The only mainstream female rapper I take serious is Doja Cat. Despite her obnoxious gimmicks, her music's refreshing and she progressively improves her pen in the process. I can see her rapping on The Alchemist, Conductor Williams and 9th Wonder beats in the future as she's aiming on being a legit LYRICIST and join the hardcore rap sphere. The mainstream female rap roster could get better if record labels invested (financially and faithully by giving them creative control) in rappers like Shygirl, Tkay Maidza, Little Simz, Jourden, Rico Nasty, Noname, Armani Caesar, Enny, Sampa the Great, Bree Runway and Jadagrace. They're young, distinguishable, visionaries, legit lyricists and art driven,.they can make female rap MORE INTERESTING and diverse, they could usher in a potential Golden era of female rap. I don't mind them replacing the current roster from Nicki, which as already peaked without reaching her potential, the untalented crew: Coi, Cardi, Ice and Sexy red. But they can keep Doja, Lola Brooke, Lady London and Megan (despite her repetitiveness, she's still talented and has a lot of potential)
Her obsession with numbers stunted her growth. No my fault, her fault. And yes Doja is inspired by Nicki, but at least she has an artistic direction, Nicki ditched that after Pink Friday
@@arseeoliveira6934 Dojas artistic direction literally is a rework of Nickis... Nicki was the one who revolutionized the pop rap sound that Doja uses with her second album, in teh pinkprint Nicki mixed rap with R&B something drake popularized but had her twist, Queen showed her actual rap abilities after years of being called a pop star which is the equivalent of Scarlet in its fundamentals... so that makes 0 sense. The whole point of roman reloaded was actually to expand within her genre if thats not artistic direction what is
Did you even watch the full video? He literally did address the gangsta rap and drill influence in male rap and how it’s also negatively impacted the male youth
When video chicks started to get a voice on the internet, and reality show thots started becoming famous, that's when I noticed ratchet female rap take off to extreme levels.
There was a difference with female rappers back then who used to talk about sex like Missy Elliott lil Kim foxy brown like they used to know how to rap that’s the difference
Music has crazy effects on a persons mind. And guess what it doesn't even have to be todays music 🎶. I loved music & still do from the 90's and unfortunately i guess I took those artists personal life into effect by trying to experiment with drugs just like they did, also i wasn't a dumb kid, actually quite smart, but dumb decisions dont come sometimes based on being dumb or smart so to speak, even the people i supposedly looked up too they also were very smart but... Unfortunately when your young you don't understand the consequences of your actions or things are not as deep for you, but just fun and insignificant, but every action has a consequence. As you feel young and free you might think not. On top of that when you start to experiment with those stuff (drugs). It's very quickly that you start going down a road of destruction. Especially when you consider the drugs you are doing, or even if they might not seem that way from the medias point of view, remember drugs usually lead to other drugs, its a given reaction. Now i aint gonna go into that but the point im trying to make is that liking music is one thing. But getting too deep into everything that concerns it and being creative and impressionable is probably the worst thing when coming into contact with these things. Listening is one thing but actually taking notes and examples from these people's lives is another, as humans are flawed, and what a 24 yr old rock star or rap star is gonna learn me about life. He barely even lived long enough to know about himself, so how can i learn from him, and even if you say naah I won't follow them, you will subconsciously. Anyway not to be gloomy but they usually die young especially in the rock genres that i listened too, rap aswell mind you. And you dont want that happening to you. Its just that people dont realise how tragic things can quickly become especially when flirting with these very dark and dangerous things its like playing with fire, but when your young you seem unstoppable and immortal but in reality things can get dark very quickly. So be careful and dont just dive in head first into something you think is cool because a video potrays it too be or someone is very charasmatic, they are young, trust your parents. As they truly want the best for you, or even someone that is genuinely for you. Not some star which is supposedly here for you, but he's in reality just looking for his own good. And there is nothing wrong with that, its just that back in the day compared to now they would actually state to not take drugs and educate yourself before doing something, something that is clearly lost nowadays. Dont be fooled. Satan won't come to you in a scary way but in the most beautiful and magnificent way possible but it will fool you into falling into that trap if your not careful. Before its too late. And for people saying oh shut up what do i know. Well im only 27 and im lucky to be alive because of the decisions ive taken in my life. Not realising I was literally playing with fire. Thats another thing the devil will do. Make something horrible look appealing. Drug use when viewed from an actual rehab facility looks horendous, its miserable and deflating doesnt look appealing at all but when celebs go to rehab for some reason they glorify it to be rebellious and alluring..when its the same thing. But in fact those celebs then say that it was the lowest point in their lives. Also lastly I will add in my case with drugs. It WASN'T straight away that it become hard and gloomy, but when it became that way it became very difficult to stop 🛑 and change my ways. Which lets you think 🤔 and realise that before you say oh i will stop or whatever i have time. It might be too late and to get out like in my case you have to go through a lot of pain and suffering not just mentally but physically too & its been yrs and in still struggling at times, is that the alure they are promoting WOW 😲. Horrible pain not something I would suggest to anybody. But like i said it will definitely be pleasant at first and amazing like nothing else. Ask yourself if something seems so great it has to have consequences for it. Nothing in life can be that truly amazing especially when your putting it into your body as in artificially speaking. Not naturally thats what im speaking about like a partner or whatever. Even natural things can be dangerous anyway enough...so just imagine what drugs can do. No Thanks. Also that struggle will stay for the rest of your life in some cases. I still fight every day to keep myself in check. As the cravings are unreal sometimes. Which is not free in any way. Something the media says all the time by taking drugs, having a liberated sexual lifestyle you will be free. More like imprisoned. But they won't tell you this... Look at all the recovering celebs from today and back in time. They always have issues of some sort. Why ? Because of their decisions they made. Seemed so small & then boom...before you know it, its a mental prison. It does get better after time but do you want to take that risk & suffer for a period of time before you get back to normal. Why bother ? What's the point in all of that ? If i could go back in time i think i would of decided to be much more safe than i was. And beware in whatever your flaw is. As that will be the thing that will be attacked the most or your tests to come to crack eventually which i dont recommend... BEWARE & FIGHT!!! LASSES & BROSKIS OUT DARE
Did you ever see the interview with Darthard Perry Everything we see on the TV and Internet is about transforming this country into a technocracy like China
Lil KIm and Lauryn Hill are the BEST rappers of ALL TIME period. Nicki minaj and Trina will follow behind. Yes content matters but LYRICALLY for artistry purposes Lil Kim, Lauryn Hill and Nicki still hold the torch and BBL's were not invented by Nicki as your trying to imply. She was forced to get one when she first started her career because everyone else had one. No ones going to remember this generations of music.
The last part about being forced to get one is innaccurate, Nicki said herself she got ass shots because she was around wayne and he always talked about and was around girls with big butts
