got the fold 4 as my first foldable and I'm never looking back. being able to use my phone one-handed and also having a ridiculously massive display on demand is just so cool.
@@jayyyy19930 i havent had it for long but the battery seems to be totally fine. Im a student and i have a wireless charger at my dorm, so every time i go in there i might pop the phone on the charger to get extra 10-15% charge. I havent properly tested this phones endurance, but i can tell you that so far i havent had a single worry about the battery life.
I didn't take folds or flips seriously until this year. I'm an average user, and still had a Pixel 2. I don't normally care about upgrading, but the Z Flip 4 seriously appealed to me and I was excited to get one! I'm a lady with small hands & pockets, and don't use my phone too much throughout the day. The folding/crease doesn't bother me and the front screen is useful while I'm working. It didn't take long to get used to, and I enjoy how customizable it is too. I recommend it if you haven't upgraded in a while, or are looking for something a little different.
You literally read my mind. This is the first year I've taking the flips seriously Haha. I have been searching for a business phone (because i need to physically seperate my personal life and work life) but I was not really happy about having two big phones on me all the time, it's so impractical. BUT the Z flip 4 has seriously caught my eye and it will easily fit in my pocket. Thank you for your comment you reallyh sold it for me!
I feel the same way! I need an upgrade and I like the idea of something different. But! How is the camera? Sharp? And do you think the battery life is comparable to "normal" phones?
@@madelynn7377 the camera looks and works great for me. Apparently its not top of the line, but I use it to post artwork on Instagram and I've been very happy with it. The battery lasts about a day and a half to two days depending on how much I'm using it. I'd say it's comparable to normal phones 👍
@@mikabeesart See! I read it wasn't top of the line either and thought well jeez I won't waste my money, but so far the pictures taken from that device look fine to me. I am def ordering today, thank you for your comment back!
I’ve had my ZFlip3 for almost one year now and I absolutely love it. It’s so compact, it fits into almost all of my pockets, and it surprisingly still fits into some of that small pockets that old purses had for phones. I also love this idea of not needing to open your phone to see notifications, it has led me to using my phone less, and I enjoy that freedom hahaha

Phone...productivity? Hol up. What genius says I'll buy a £2000 phone instead of a laptop. Human nature to justify the unjustifiable, no wonder the mobile tech scene is such a copy-pasta mess.
@@amateurwizard did u read the comment? It means that because of the small outer screen, you automatically use phone less for useless stuff, so u have more time and focus to be productive doing your work (on a laptop, not phone)
Eh, bullshit. This is something that sounds good when saying it but will have zero connection to reality. No, you won't be more productive with a foldable phone.
Is it only me or does anyone else not hear anything in the video until 0:11?? Literally don't see any comment mentioning this, but I swear I can't be the only one...
@@InstinctRaps def get a case if you haven't already, the phone takes a bit of getting used to but having a case makes it easier to worry just a bit less about dropping it
I would actually like to get one but it's way too chunky compared to my s22+ rn and with a case it's even worse. Plus some of the other downsides right now I just don't think it's worth it
You're right, I'm holding Samsung responsible for nearly every single flashship phone now being bigger than a 6 inch screen footprint. Single-hand-use phones are becoming more and more of a rarity these days. Which is a shame.
The folding form factor is the most practical, a small display turning into a larger productivity screen; while the flip form factor is the most fun, a normal phone flipping into half of its size. So much potential for the foldable phones in the future 🔥
Sorry folks but no. I had the Z Flip 3 for the whole last year and it is waayyy worse than you expect, with none of the benefits you all imagine here. It's a terrible phone.
@@bluex610 Not for me. The fold 4 is only like 20 something grams heavier than a iphone 13 pro max. I was a little skeptical going into the fold 4 but after I got my hands on it inside my local tmobile store, I knew I would love it. Been using it for 2 weeks and haven't even considered returning it.
@@bluex610 Compared to any normal phone yes, of course it is. But it's something I got over in like 20 min (coming from pixel 6 - not pro). Samsung makes two very good cases for it that show just how much they are thinking about the cons though. One of them has this dope looking strap that makes holding it (open or closed) feel super good. Google fold 4 strap case from samsung.
@@bluex610 its definitely a bit chunky but i got used to it pretty quickly. I also got used to the narrow aspect ratio of the cover screen. When i hold a "normal" phone in my hand like the S22 it feels too wide and weird 😂
The Fold 4 was at my local At&t store, giving me easy access to purchase. So I traded my S21 Ultra. Generally its a smaller smart phone that I can fold open to ease reading emails, documents and viewing videos. Very interesting phone to use.
Watching this on my Galaxy Fold 4....It's my first FOLD device and I absolutely Love it!! Build quality feels sturdy, beautiful display inside and out, great cameras, incredibly fast, and GREAT battery life! My only issue so far has been the weight. It's a heavy phone but I got used to it pretty quickly
Been carrying the Fold 2 for two years now. In that time I've gotten used to the phone trying to drag me down into the center of the Earth but I always get reminded again of the weight when someone else handles the phone for a bit and are shocked by the chonk
I am a construction estimator and uni student, I've wanted a fold for ages but waited. Offered the 4 and was still reserved but I've only found it getting more useful as time goes on. Being able to bring up readable plans on site with something in my pocket is a killer. I partner it with a 15" laptop and it's the ultimate portable work station.

I still have a galaxy s21, but my next upgrade will be a foldable. I tried the Fold 4 at a store and it was just super impressive. Having such a big screen in your pocket is amazing and it is such a joy to watch youtube, emails or photos on it. I just hope they can get it to the Form factor xiaomi has. This one looks insane
The idea behind the fold is amazing. I have the fold 3 for a year now and it performs great. The only thing is that my factory screenprotector in the inside is letting loose on the folding line. I have not pulled it off yet cuz im afraid of durability issues.

"Try more things" is literally LG's strategy back when they were the experimenters and Samsung kept things very conventional with the sole exception of the (genuinely innovative) Note line. LG's main problem was that they didn't find an idea that was an absolute banger the same way the Note was, so they kept squandering market share and never recouped their R&D costs. Those were the days HTC tried using camera with larger pixels, but lower resolution (before settling on dominating everyone in audio quality and build quality), Sony's name was still relevant and Motorola released not only mid-range phones with *gigantic* batteries, but even tried out Intel's Atom processors (they weren't very efficient or quick overall). Through all that, Samsung wisely focused on getting their Galaxy line to compete directly with the iPhone and marked the Note line as a power-user's device (back when that included _every_ feature available at the time; just look at the crazy things people could do with the Note 2). Now that Samsung is the last big game in town, they can do whatever they want. Their potential rivals are too small to spend lots on multiple iterations of a promising product (if it doesn't immediately rake in billions), or are directly affected by US trade embaegoes, while also lacking the advertising budget to generate hype.
Wasn't samsung also first to bring curved screen, actual facial feature id - iris scan, and as you mentioned note - speciality the stylus pen support One of the firsts to bring selfie camera feature Yes, LG was really innovative making curved body phones, first to bring ultra wide camera , giving inbuilt DAC in some models, first to bring oled Both Korean brands did amazing, many of ideas did appear in now gone Japanese companies too
LG problem was they experiment on their main selling phones. Samsung don't do that. They create another model. Like Galaxy Edge, or Galaxy Fold, or even Galaxy Zoom.
I bought my wife the Z Flip 4. She's been wanting a big screen that would also fit in her pockets forever. This year was the first time I thought they had become durable enough, and also had fewer negatives than positives. Either way, she loves it, and she's the envy of all her coworkers.
I skipped the first 3 Z folds, but with aggressive preorder deals and a new gen that's feels like it's ready to be a daily for me, I got the Fold 4. And I'm loving. It really bridged the gap between my S20+ and my iPadPro for most daily usage scenarios.
@@sagardahiya6138 the camera is not the only element of a phone you know. How do you even know if the person takes lots of photos? Furthermore comparisons have shown the Fold 4 cameras to be excellent when compared to its ultra sibling and holds up very well.
Hey Marques, maybe it's just me but the audio cut out in this video at the end, around 11:20. You're editting is literally the pinacle of YT so I'd be surprised if this wasn't just my phone being weird
Microsoft needs to take notice here. They aren't even in the scope when MKBHD, arguably the most influential tech youtuber in the world, makes a video about something they make.
Thought the same thing especially after all the updates to the software. Other reviewers have re-reviewed it after the updates and are now praising it.
I have Fold 4. This is my first foldable and I love it! I wasn't very sure I'd like to keep it so decided not to reset my Note 20 Ultra for a month, just in case. I reset it the next day! The phone is just fantastic - the front screen is usable as a normal phone for every day simple tasks as emailing, calling, messaging, the big screen is fantastic for reading and multitasking. I'd say it like that - you would never know until you try it! Watching videos can help get familiar, but only using it can help you to decide do you want it or not.
Same here, My first fold. Bought Beige 512GB and it was my best purchase for long time. the snapdragon is like 100 times better than crappy Exynos i had on my previous samsung phones. never lagging now and it so fast and efficient. battery is great. Watching football with the samsung standing case is a wonderful experience. I might never go back to a normal phone again. i thought the crease would bother me , but you cant even notice it almost. the only thing thats missing is the s-pen inside the phone like the Note series.
While the Microsoft Surface Duo doesn't have a single display that folds, it is technically a folding phone. I think it at least deserves a mention on a foldables video.
Gone from the Note 20 ultra to the z fold 4. It took me a while to get used to the fold but I absolutely love it. Definitely worth thinking about if you are looking for a new phone and fancy something different.
did same but dad needed a newer phone so i gave him my note 20 ultra and got a Fold 3 for $1k at best buy without a trade in. fold 4 was a plan but since i didnt want to shell out more money then needed and i settled for the Fold 3.
I also have a note 20 ultra and will need to make a decision in 2 days. What do you think of the camera? It's not as good as 22 ultra. It's not like I take a lot of telegraphic shots but it's nice to zoom in even to read signs from far away. Does the "normal" camera system bother you? I really want the fold 4 but may settle on 22 ultra.
@@Americaninparis2012 I have the note 20 ultra too. I'm still deciding on whether I want the Z Fold 4 or S23 Ultra. The single big screen is sweet but can be kind of too big for my hands with a thick case. And Z Fold is slimmer for my hands. Hard to choose lol since the new s22/s23 are great phones too. But having a tablet on the go is pretty sweet too.
@@billnguy I ended up getting the fold 4 and I really love it. It's nice having the extra real estate for multitasking; I love it the most when i use the google map during driving and split screen with youtube for my daughter. There are some issues you should know about, although they still wouldn't have prevented me from getting the fold if I had to choose again. The main issue is how dirty the screen gets. It's really a smudge and dust magnet. The screen is soft so you want to be careful not to scratch so I wait to clean the screen until I have a micro-cloth. Second issue is some of the apps are still not optimized for the fold. I think it's Amazon prime video or netflix that won't allow for split screen like I can with RU-vid. I'm sure it will get better but so far, it's still lacking. The third issue is it doesn't house a S-pen. I use the pen often on the huge screen but I had to get a case that held the S-pen, which made the phone enormous. Forget trying to put it in your front pocket. If, you don't use the pen and don't need to put a case on it, it's not that thick so you wouldn't have such problem. Hope my info helps you in small way for you deciding which phone to get. Enjoy!!
Just wanted to highlight something regarding having a foldable as a tablet replacement. The main thing about foldables for me is the ability to have two different devices in my pocket with me all the time. That ability, is so far being ignored by reviewers who mainly focus on using the big screen as a bigger phone screen instead of a completely separate small tablet experience. The main thing I have observed compared to tablet users at least with my friends, is that they never use them. This is mostly because tablets are heavy and very big to comfortably use while relaxing on a couch or while travelling. They require you to carry them on a bag all day, hold them with both hands and also need to be charged and setup independently. Fold 3/4 and now the rest of the foldable phones, are light and just the right size, they are already in your pocket, already charged and ready to use whenever you feel like it. The switch from phone to tablet is seamless, you only need to unfold it and you have the same Android setup with all your apps there with their local saves, settings and customisations. My friends are always carrying their tablets when travelling, holidays etc. but no one seems to have them charged when needed or ever take them out of the bag. I use my Fold as a tablet all the time because it is not a big deal, wherever I am and quickly want to view a website, read my emails and reply, watch a youtube video or something with lots of content, to just unfold my phone and do it. They would have to get up from wherever they are, get their tablets, power up another device and then actually do what they wanted to do quickly...takes too many steps and time and all of them just end up compromising by using their smartphones instead. And when you have done what you wanted, you just fold it back to a phone and not have a big tablet taking space in your desk/table/couch whatever. To me that's the truly amazing thing that foldables can do. I feel like foldables should be reviewed a bit differently, as two devices, part of the review as a smartphone using the outer screen and then separately review the big screen as a tablet.
I agree as well but with the fold 3 and now 4, I grow tired of the cases and how poor they are, the front screen is not great to use as a phone, they are thick, as a mobile, not sitting down etc, I find the fold not practical.. Love the larger interior screen but I'm thinking of going back to the s23... Just to see if that larger fold screen is really worth the hassle
Just got the fold 4 and love it. It is my first folding phone and never going back unless of course they stop making them. Hoping there will be some huge improvement in the coming future.
I'm not sold--yet, but am interested in the folds, not the flips (the latter, as you said, is just too much work). Right now the limiting factors for me are the possible additional weight, bulk/thickness, and less durability. However, I love the idea of opening it up to a small tablet. That's sick. Great video showing the different buckets of foldables, Marques!
I work construction and have owned my Fold3 doe 10 months. I've been rained on, covered in mud, cut concrete and had saw dust covering my phone and me and this phone is still going strong. The first iteration were the phones with issues. These newer ones hold up pretty well.
As a tech nerd, I love foldables because they are something new and exciting. However, for day to day stuff, I'm still not convinced. I don't need the bigger screen for productivity because the only work stuff I do on my phone is repsonding to messages and emails; I don't often watch stuff either, definitely not enough to justify the price increase. The smaller foldables look great (Z Flip) and I can see a potential benefit of less screen time, but not enough for me to switch ecosystem. I feel like the physical hardware is quickly advancing but someone still has to piece it all together to change the user experience of foldables that make it a step up from current smartphones? A bit like how the original iPhone redefined the smartphone, I feel like someone now can redefine it again if they can get the whole package together.

This is an understandable take, but as a fold 3 owner, it is legitimately the only pocketable device that I've ever liked multitasking on. You get two full sized apps, and can still have content floating around. I know that's not a need for everyone, but for some it's something no traditional phone will ever be able to do
@@stephenmoniz6058 I completely get that and no doubt it’s a useful and cool feature to have but the thinking there is still conventional in the sense that multitasking and media viewing are the first two things anyone would think to do with a bigger screen smartphone. I’m hoping that the foldable experience will become something beyond the smartphone experience, something we can’t even imagine now. I think/hope that, as much as price, is what will cause a breakthrough
I worked for a major telecommunications company, I’ve sold thousands of phones. Your paying a lot for smaller battery’s and inferior camera quality for the novel of folding your phone in half.
I absolutely love the "Roll-Out" screen. Perfect in-between, can have a full functioning phone on it's own, all while having the option to expand the screen if you want. Would also potentially keep the phone thinner if it doesn't actually need the fold & the hinge. Either way, excited to see where these innovations go.

3 years back when I first saw the Galaxy Fold i was fascinated by how the screen folds and i was pretty much assumed that is was never gonna get mainstream due to its durability issues, but damn now since I've seen people actually using the Z folds and the Z flips even in India I'm convinced that this is the next big thing.
I don't think it will be the next big thing. people always forget that technology alone doesn't translate to innovation. The next big innovation is the thing that connect technology with human and how it change the way we interact. For example, the reason people said the first iPhone is the next big thing is because it changes the way we talk, communicate, multi-touch display allow us to show more information. I couldn't think what is flipping offer anything to human interaction? The only next big thing I am convinced is Augmented Reality.

They have to drop the price in order for it to beat the S-series and enter the mainstream, IMO. Having a 7.6 inch screen that fits in your pocket certainly sounds great, but it isn't worth 2x the price, *especially* since you sacrifice battery-life, durability, and camera-quality on top of that. As it stands, it's probably only going to be for enthusiasts and people with extremely deep pockets.
I love the Flip, less screen time was the main reason I sprung for it, so being able to screen notifications without having to use the phone feels like a game changer
I just upgraded from my 4 year old Note9 to the latest Flip4. So far, I love it. The crease is something I'm learning to live with, but I love how much nicer it fits into my pocket, or cubbies in my car. I am also aware of the issues with Samsung's folding screen but I'm hopeful that I won't have any issues.
Fold/Flip 4's 4th Gen UTG folding glass was SIGNIFICANTLY stronger than previous versions. Just make sure to promptly replace the plastic top layer screen protector if it ever starts to bubble up/come unstuck. Most people with cracked Fold's/Flip's took off the screen protector and never replaced it. That said, even the notably stronger recent foldable generations are still covered in shatterable glass without a glass screen protector on it to take any potential damage in an impact, so you'll DEFINITELY still want to be a bit more careful when it's open vs with a normal phone. 🤷
Amazing video. Love how you really got into all variants of foldables. I still feel we are not quite there yet with tech. I reckon in 10 years tech giants will crack it. Thank you for making amazing content. Huge fan from Scotland.
I have a fold 2 and flip 3. Definitely use the flip more. I’m not much of a power user so having it fold to a smaller size is perfect when it’s sitting in my pocket a majority of the day. Saving my penny’s to get a Find N. Love that form factor!
I'm a "Samsung Ambassador" through my work so I got the flip 3 and flip 4 to use as demo devices and have found myself enjoying it a lot more than i thought i would, despite my biggest initial worry which was the crease. I will say though my flip 3 was in pretty rough shape after a year with just regular usage, so im hoping the 4 holds up better long term. The screen started to show holes that looked like scratches, even after i had to remove the included protector once it became too worn out.
I'm loving the Fold 4 so much! Having a tablet and a phone on demand is simply amazing! My coworkers were shocked to see it when I showed it off to them and it's amazing to see this new form factor!
I was worried about the durability and went with the flip 3 instead of the fold 3 when it came out, but now I'm convinced that I made the wrong choice. Don't get me wrong, the flip isn't as inconvenient as they it would be. I'm a power user who flips it open and close every 10 minutes like a natural reflex and nothing has broken so far. The convenience of a phone and a tablet in one device is simply too good to pass up on!

As always, great video. I don’t have or need a foldable phone, but damn I could listen to you talk about phones and gadgets for hours. Gold standard! Big ups to the MKBHD crew
it's all about the dual screen phones like the Surface Duo because they actually use glass screens. SD2 is a joy to use. Fantastic for work multitasking and reading.
@@UltraMagnus3786 Because it's not really a foldable phone - it's a phone with two screens that happens to close inwards on itself. Not in the same theme as a Galaxy Z Fold 3 or Razr, etc.
Totally agree! A bit surprised that the Surface Duo wasn’t part of this video as it’s the very same concept as the Fold, just with a different approach to which of the current day materials that are best for use in such a phone.
I love the Samsung Apple dynamic. Samsung constantly pushes boundaries and sees what sticks, then Apple comes along and improves whatever catches on, which forces Samsung to improve it more to compete with apple and vice versa. When Apple makes a foldable, it'll push the foldable industry so much further. I use an s22 ultra, but I would be quite upset if the Samsung overtook Apple because it would hurt the competitive nature of the smartphone industry.
Finally someone with a brain 😭 spot on tho with everything in this comment. Neither one is really better but apple is more refined, calculated, and safe in what they go after while Samsung is loves to push the envelope
I respectfully disagree with that. If Samsung did manage to overtake Apple it wouldnt hurt the competition, it would just make Apple more innovative and pushing the boundaries themselves to catch Samsung. That then would make the other companies more competitive. Its a cause and effect of the sales industry.
I've been rocking my note 20 for a while. Been waiting for the next big iteration of phones. The 22 ultra wasn't too much of a change and even kept the same outer shell design. But then Amazon started selling renewed z fold 3s for only 600 and so I bought one. I am still a little wary of the foldable designs and after seeing all the horror stories of the z fold I didn't want to trade in my daily driver for a fold. I still have my note 20 but after playing with this for a few days I have to say it's pretty amazing. I'm hoping I don't get addicted to the big screen until the material science gets even better.
@Gonzalez family Non Americans got a shit version of the chip to put a long story short, worse performance battery life etc, it wasn't just Americans but it was mostly yall and the Koreans
Watching this right now on my own Fold 4 and I have to say, I am really liking the foldable experience. I always knew I would like it as I enjoy more "unique" technology but it lives up to my expectations so far.
I was a phone and tablet person. Got the fold 4 and love it. Already sold my tablet so that is one less thing to carry around. I use the outer screen about half the time. loving the extra real-estate of the inner screen. One thing that is often over looked is the ease of 1 handed operation when using the outside display. Fold 4 is awesome and can only imagine how much better it will get int he coming years.
I just got my first foldable (flip 4) a little less than a month ago. I wanted something that I could actually keep in my pocket while sitting down in the car! I've been trying to use my phone less too, so the barrier that you mentioned is a plus for me. Sometimes I pull my phone out of my pocket, hold it, and before opening it I realize I don't really want to use it then.
strangely, i have sound error in the beginning and end of this video. Just went silent. Nevertheless, great video. I think stretching and contracting screens gonna be kinda popular in some years, depending if they can make form factor right.
I'm really interested in the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4. It's so cool to see foldable phones making a comeback now in the smart phone era. I hope the Razr gets a U.S. release, but if not I'll go with the Samsung. It's neat to see how far the technology can go and where it will go in the future.
It's amazing how so many different brands all strive to achieve one common goal, except they each accomplish it in a unique way to prove that they've done it the best, can't wait to see the future of foldables unfold (see what I did there?)
@@alexgrazie93 dumb reply. its not about having money, its about spending money on something that a normal phone already does for a fraction of the price. why would anyone spend 1700 dollars on a folding phone when they can get a phone for half the price thats better?
Been using my new Z flip 4 over a week now, I can gladly said that it really live up to my expectation. My only hope for the upcoming flip style devices are adopting the liquid lens technoloy to offer more focal lengths while maintaining the current form factor
It's insane how fast foldables have already matured. In just 4 iterations of the Fold and competing folding phones, all that's really left for it to do is keep working on screen durability, under display camera quality, and the crease. Honorable mention for software/UI. But overall, it's more or less already hit the point that slab phones are at where there's not really much new left for them to do.
@Silver Joystix I know what I said and stand by it. It isn't that much. Those are just a few things compared to everything that's improved on these foldables so far.
@silverjoystix4696I've owned & used a whole BUNCH of different foldables over the years as this technology has matured... And everything he said was basically 110% bang on accurate. 🤷 Now that fold-flat waterdrop style hinges are standard across the entire industry with the Fold/Flip 5 (aka the LAST major important foldable hardware innovation Samsung had been holding out on) it's basically just the usual gen-on-gen upgrades that we have to look forward to from here on out beyond Fold 6's expected slight rejiggering of its screen sizes & aspect ratios (think a Fold 3 to Fold 4 shift one more time). (Aka a new SOC, slightly improved durability [as Fold/Flip 4 & 5 were already both MASSIVE leaps forward on that front!], and hopefully some camera upgrades including better UDC's on the tablet screen, and maybe even some notable crease reduction if we're REALLY lucky that year.)
I love my Note9, just because it has a stylus, that fits in the phone. I love the look and function of the Z Flip, but without stylus functionality (which I use a lot) it's a no go for me.
I moved from a Note 9 to Fold 4 a few days ago. The S pen in the Note 9 was awesome. The Fold 4 Pen comes separately with the cover which increases bulk and is also a loose fit.
Ever since I got my first foldable (the Fold3) I'll never go back to a regular phone. I'm now on the fold4 and still loving everything about it. We need phones like these.
Fold 3 was my first foldable and I'm never going back either. I had the first Note and I remember all the jokes and people clowning about the size and now every phones is bigger than that first Note. I have the same feeling with the foldables.
I love my fold 4 and after owning it I can't go back to the regular form factor feels dated to me. Samsung also packed crazy features into fold 4 such as Bixby routines. I have one setup were if the phone is folded power saving is on then when it is open it instantly turns off.
Flex Mode is only in Samsung foldables too and for me it's a major selling point/advantage. They lead innovation no matter what you're thinking of them.
I switched from a Note to the Fold 3 and I don't think I can go back. There are definitely a few trade-offs but the benefits are really solid. Can't wait to get the Fold 4 when I'm eligible for an upgrade.
I do have the flip 4 and I think the idea is on what he said we try to use it less and less with the smaller screen if you want a usable front screen go to folds but the real problem for me is the software I hate watching RU-vid and having this black out areas on the sides seems like I am back to the old phones with less screen and more material and I know this is easy and won't cost that match to fix the ratios on the software
ive had the fold 3 for almost a year and its the perfect phone for me tbh. long battery life, productive exterior screen and the pen is so perfect for writing notes or working out math problems, perfect phone for a studious student
I'd really love a foldable but they are in that "It's almost there" phase still where you can expect that the next year's model is just that little bit better, while still expensive enough that it's a good chunk to put down. For me the booklike fold is better but I can see some appeal to the square flip type too. They seem like they could use a bigger screen on the outside so it can function as a square phone for doing things like answering a message or looking up a map or something simple you need to do quick and repeatedly when on the go. Sit down, fold it open and use like a regular phone.
I've always had a bit of an issue with smartphones growing bigger and bigger and me having problems fitting it in pockets and in my hand. I've used an Asus ZenFone just for that smaller flagship but I've come to realize that the Z Flip is going to be perfect for me. I also definitely could use the "barrier" so I don't get tempted as much by notifications when I need to focus or do other stuff
I've always being a fan of the Note lineup all I had ,except for this year. Traded my ultra 22 for the fold 4 my first fold phone and I love it for what I use it for on a daily.
@@das_it_mane I like fold 4. Battery is better. Only camera is downgrade compared to s22 Ultra. But still it take good photos which is why I'm happy. Great experience using fold 4.
@@das_it_mane the fold 4, just like Mano said only downgrade is the camera from the Ultra 22 but it not the worst still great quality. Multi tasking is flawless on the fold so easy especially with the new task bar at the bottom. I really feel now I have a phone plus tablet in one.
Having the fold 3 for a year now. Absolutely love it. Mostly use the outside screen but when I want a bigger screen I just have it ready. And folding a screen never becomes normal
"Mostly use the outside screen"... Wow, as a tablet style foldable owner as well myself, you people DO actually exist!!! 😳🤯 I simply could not understand for the life of me just why SO MANY PEOPLE were going absolutely NUTS over the OnePlus Open despite it having a damn near SQUARE internal display that's SIGNIFICANTLY less useful for common tablet use-cases like watching widescreen media in landscape and scrolling through modern vertical app feeds in portrait! But now, I kinda get it. It's for people like you for whom a tablet style foldable is "primarily a phone first & a foldable mini-tablet second", and NOT the other way around like it is for me. 🤷 For me phones like the OnePlus Open are one step forward (that full size front display is legitimately awesome to use, ngl!) but two steps backwards (i.e. the viewable ≈16:9 media area on an 8" Open is actually slightly SMALLER than on the 7.6" but MUCH more rectangular Fold 4/5!!!).
Cellphones have evolved over the years. We went from keypad to now fully touch screen devices. It just shows modernity has taken an effect on technology. The foldable smartphones seem interesting, but they can be expensive.
I was really, REALLY hoping for a rollable phone by now. LG was rumored to be only months away from releasing one before their smartphone division folded, Oppo has teased one for years now, Samsung has teased one (rumored to be announced when the new Flip and Fold were unveiled). I'm willing to skip foldables if we can get rollables out on the market, tested, and perfected.
It's because rollables are still an utterly dogshit ass unworkable concept with current flexible OLED display tech. 🤷 The tech is literally only good enough for showing off at trade shows like CES. They have all the same horrendous fundamental problems as outward folding phones like the OG Mate X/Xs from having the super soft, plastic screen on the outside of the device AND a bunch of unique durability issues from being motorized! (And they can't even use UTG folding glass either, so expect that awful non-uniform lumpy & mushy finger feel of a fully plastic Fold 1 or RAZR 2019!) By every meaningful measure at the moment a rollable phone is worse than a foldable with the same full size screen (aka extended/unfolded) in pretty much every single possible way but sheer "cool factor". The latter of which simply isn't enough by itself to justify mass manufacturing something SOOOOO ridiculously complicated & expensive! 🤷
I'm using my Galaxy Fold 2 for 2 years now. I can't get back to a normal phone. Also Samsung really nailed it how you can multitask on this device. People don't understand how great it is. Till they have it themselves. I'm going to buy the new Oppo N Fold when it's get released in Q4 in Europe. Same price as the IPhone 14 Pro Max with a much bigger screen. Can't wait to own it.
Honestly would love to see a device similar to the one shown in Westworld. It folds out into a tablet device but folds back in to be pocketable. As for now I will stick with the non folding phones until the prices comes down a bit or something more evolutionary comes down the line.
That oppo fold formfactor looks fantastic! I miss smaller high-end phones and that fold is like 'I don't always want it to be smaller'. It's super manageable regardless of its mode.
I think you should have included the Surface Duo in the other category. It's not one single folding screen. It's doing enough to earn a mention in the category. By trying to be like a foldable, whilst avoiding some of the downsides of building a true foldable.
Watching this on a Fold 3 haha. I personally love it but it's a hard phone to recommend to most people. It has a lot of quirks and inconveniences for the average user, and I can agree with everything he said for the Fold 4. Great video!
my dream phone ? -headphone jack -foldable (in the galaxy fold way) -e ink screen on the front, to read books and prevent me from spending too much time on social media
