Great video. It's truly incredible to me how much this game has improved since it officially went offline. Back in 2012 I would not have even imagined playing new maps or at 60 FPS. Sadly I'll be working for the first day of survival but I hope they have an awesome turnout!
Theres a specific build of the emulator for mgs4 iirc, mgo is handled differently. I personally play mgs4 with the mgo emulator and it DOES run better for me, but it still crashes a ton
The first video game that has a game mode like fornite or Call of duty use these days but kids think it is a new one😂This is one of the best online video game EVER🎉😮😊
God I love MGO2. I was so excited for MGO3 but they fumbled it so hard. Also why haven't we gotten a SINGLE multiplayer game since then with this level of character customization 😭
@@Birdsofparadiselost Rainbow Six Vegas 2 had pretty good customization with the different armors, knee pads, shoulder pads, helmets, night vision goggles
For me mgo has the most variety without going full on just military, it had a nice middle ground of just clean looking gear and then slightly goofy items that really help you stand out
@@BackpackYT very great game imo that and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 1 and 2 along with Future Soldier, a shame how Ubisoft has been treating the Tom Clancy brand lately
I absolutely adore MGO, and I really appreciate the SaveMGO service, but a huge reason for me not coming back to play is toxicity. I know that's kind of a blanket excuse for any sweaty game, but the last 5 times I've returned to the game in order to try it out again, the player base is always comprised of a Very few amount of people, most of who are saying extremely weird, racist, and bizarrely sexual nonsense. There was a round where I didn't die once and the entire enemy team started to spam a bunch of weird copy-pasta macros in chat that said a lot of slurs and insults and its just like.. wow. I guess that's kind of to be expected for such a niche server for an already niche multiplayer component but wow it is Rough whenever I return to the game, and most of the time, not fun. Which is a shame, I miss the old group that I used to run around with back when I first tried SaveMGO on my PS3 all those years ago, but none of them play anymore due to the same reason, because most of the players are really weird, toxic individuals. That's kinda insane how every time ive returned, there's actually been a few people that I recognize from the last time I returned, and they would Still be on the same weird stuff they were on when I first played with them. I'd really like to return to the game sometime, if that problem is at the very least Heavily worked upon.
Back in the day I dropped out of high school. In part it was so that I could play this game as much as possible (but no worries, I’m an engineer now). Don’t have a PS3, and haven’t played in over 13 years, but I’m highly contemplating coming to play…. Great job to all who have contributed to keeping the game alive! Good work men
The commmunity is horribly toxic still acting like 16 year olds though. as a person who played this a lot it was really weird getting back into it, had some fun but was swiftly ruined by toxic people.
Yeah we atleast still have a more active mod team so feel free to report these people when that happens. Take any clips as needed and the mods will take care of it. Weve had alot of people banned before and its honestly way better now than it was before But it aint perfect by any stretch.
Yeah I had my fair share of people being assholes, so it didn't surprise me. Nowhere near as bad as it was back during the official servers, but it was noticeable. I haven't been on in months so I'm not sure what its like now.
I remember back in the day when this was on the ps3 people would make custom servers and just practice CQC on each other in a massive circle jerk in the middle of the level. That's how slow it was to level up CQC in game. Makes sense that community figured out how to keep the game alive decades later.
This video is a "Very Good Total Take no Enemy's Goal" in every aspect, informative and very well edited, bravo: sometimes I wonder how much more popular MGO would have been if we had today's social media at our disposal back in 2008... I've spent most of my late 20s afternoons in those maps having so much fun also as a means to deal with my personal "Phantom Pain" for the end of the Solid Snake era of the Metal Gear saga and I still remember the final days of the original Metal Gear Online 2 as it was yesterday...😢 I really would like to give it a second try but now I'm in my early 40s and that time for me to play online multiplayer games has changed and there's no turning back unfortunately... About preserving the original MGO2: those against making new stuff are nothing more than self-proclaimed "experts" just jealous of other's achievements such as bringing back a multiplayer game killed by their beloved free review codes provider/Konami Digital Entertainment thus their opinions should be ignored.
life does get in the way sometimes, but if you should ever find the time to setup this and play it occasionally, wed love to have you. i hear you on the second part, unfortunately online discourse has become something of who can build the largest echo chamber, and that becomes the main opinion going forward
I was a university student back in 2009-2012 and i spent almost 800 hours playing SNE, now i'm a doctor and thanks to the savemgo staff i'm still playing this amazing game
It is crazy how we were all teens back in those days. I was playing this game while I was a junior in college. Now I am a full-time engineer. Metal Gear Delta has given me hope that the MG series has not completely died. What a time to be alive.
For anyone on the fence about trying SAVEMGO/MGO2 it's worth it. I didn't know about "MGO" till Phantom Pain's Metal gear online aka "MGO3" and that sucked to play. I'm a fairly new player to MGO2 and i'm at the average player rank of 12-13 (correct me if i'm wrong plz) and it's still a really fun time. I won't lie it gets very infuriating with the desync/lag and being curb stomped by the Vets of the game, but when you get into the chill lobbies and everything lines up and works perfectly There isn't a game that gives you the same feeling. Take your time, learn what works then try experimenting. Worst outcome you don't like it and don't play it again. Best outcome we'll see you again and hope you stay!
@@chadmanster1883 I’m an old school player, mostly play TSNE. If you want tips or help, feel free to hit me up. I’m not a god or anything but I know the game inside and out. MGO can be a bit toxic but I want more new players lol. The more people we can get playing, the more fun we’ll be having together.
MGO has the "you can just shoot them, but it WILL be the least effective way to do things" which other games never really managed to recapture it is nice to see that the fans are keeping this alive I hope at one point or another people more capable than me will make solar boy Django as one of the special characters
i just remember this game required a lot of work to actually play on a ps3. mgs4 was one of the first games my family got on the ps3 as we already had 2 and 3 on ps2. online mode was such a hassle to connect to that we played it once and never again.
i recall playing this on my brothers old PS3 account in the late 2000's and early 2010s and making one friend on there.. i cant thank you enough for giving a link to the stuff! holy fuck I cant wait to dive back into the game! thank you for bringing my old gaming memories back! its time for me to type shit in chat once more!
I wasn't fond of MGO 2 but it had it's moments. I'm afraid this resurrected version is likely comprised of the most extreme, "10 years of playing the same game" players who probably only play the same COD-esque game modes and don't do Sneaking Matches, or Unique characters often. Probably the people who ran around with offensive usernames/clan names too. The progression system wasn't fun and the whole losing your rank/lv wasn't fun either. I'm sure people will enjoy this return, but I don't think this version is meant for a casual player like me. 17:50 - And I disagree with that on principle.
For casual players we offer level locked rooms where higher levels cant join. Thats the best thing we can do to avoid it, but it also means to new players have to fill that room themselves, as they arent the active ones. For those rooms its always either sneaking modes or a mix of modes. As far as the last part Idk what your disagreeing with on principal since the main game is left on touch and only new additions are being added without changing the rest.
12:14 Survival and Tournament mode. Pure dopamine. That lobby music takes me straight back to the glory days (of always being a noob at the game, lol).
Had hopes up for MGO3, but that was just miserable. MGO2 still remains as the best online multiplayer game there has been. Great that it's still alive.
I'm modding my ps3 cause my specs for my laptop aren't for MGO2! I truly miss this game can't wait to get back. KHAOS???? was my older name perhaps we came cross each other in the past?
Good video my dude. I played MGO 2 a few months ago and you're absolutely right about the player count. I was getting my ass kicked mostly, but I had some fun so it wasn't too bad. Never got into survival back when it was out, and that was mainly because I had no one to play with. Will be interesting to see how the numbers go this Saturday when Survival launches again. Hope you have fun!
Day 1 MGO2 player here. So happy it’s much easier to play the revival now. Setting it up on PS3 was a huge barrier for a lot of people. The PC setup is amazing. Hopefully we can keep it alive for years to come.
you can get them a few ways, you can get the a player model pack from Deviant art called MGO Player Basic Textures. or can probably find rips online, in model archive sites.. its been awhile so i dont know any off hand. or you can use Solid Eye and Noesis and rip them from the game yourself
@@sgr_sean Something i noticed from personal experience from being in both metal gear and yakuza communities is how a lot of people who like yakuza also like metal gear and vice versa which is pretty dope they are both my favorite series of all time. Also, when MGS4 comes out on PC i hope it will allow for native MGO playability that would be crazy. Even if Konami doesn't put MGO2 on PC i am hoping the files are still present at the very least so people can datamine and reconstruct it. I wonder if the legacy collection edition has them hmm... Also hoping rollback netcode being possible somehow in the future like how smash bros melee got it with Slippi.
@@wallsofdarkness94 yakuza pretty much took the spot metal gear left open when the series died. I came into that series at the right time where there wasnt any other game that had such involved narratives like it. So i put it up there right along side mgs for me. And id like to make videos on that series aswell when i can.
@@sgr_sean I would love to see that! And thats true i love the narrative in yakuza. I love the series so much i even started doing 100% completion/achievement in every rgg game. Only have gaiden and IW left and dead souls, kurohyou games and kenzan... yeah i lost my mind long time ago, def don't recommend doing that :x I am also cureently doing 100% for mg games on steam, only got mgs3 and rising left
Although I never heard of this game before, it looks really interesting and fun. I just hope that I get enough breathing room to learn the game and not die to veterans. I'll give it a try.
an idea that would be difficult to implement but a Metal Gear battle royale the map is EVERY location from every game from across the globe but shrank into a warzone looking 1 land mass sort of broke up by well rivers and bridges and LOOK THERE'S BIG SHELL never mind someone's sank it and got 10 kills at once 😂😂😂😂 dude surfaces inside arsenal gear okay i'm going to Angola peace out nope there's a battle gear well Afghanistan looks nice NOPE someones took Salhalanphopus already well looks like i'm parachuting all game *gets shout out the sky by someone who got to rex first* 😂 basically it would be who can find the LVL CARDS quick enough and gets to the metal gears first who wins 😂 and as they can all be taken out by rocket launchers its not really a balancing issue 😂 come on we would all love a game with that much chaos 😂
Was sad to see I couldn't play MGO2 but was super happy back when MGS5 released with MGO3. Tried it a few times near it's release and it was fine...till the meta set in...everyone ran stealth invis and the same kit. Devolved quickly into both teams lower level players having to camp a corner of the map with explosives and tightly together unless they wanted to get snatched anywhere on the map constantly from someone running around invisible.
God I miss this game...no shooter will ever be able to touch what MGO2 had going for it(or even Lost Planet 2 for me). I plan to download and play on SMGO2, just need to save up to upgrade my pc first(maybe around tax time)
I still Plat this on ps5, probably about 42 players a day and you WILL be fighting the same sweaty people and waiting to join full matches for 10 minutes at a time. I have 1500 hours in mgo3 😅 I'm changing my gamertag soon but it's BJJREDBELT if anyone wants to team up, I go non lethal
Only game I played as much as MGO2 was SOCOM 2 on PS2 no other games have come close (besides MW2 & CoD4) to how much fun I had in MP games. I remember watching MGO Machinimas back when I was young before I got a PS3 after my 360s laser shit the bed. Been tempted to try MGS4 on the PS3 Emu but I kept having instability issues
Best online shooter of all time. Been playing it since the beginning with the beta launch Apr ‘08. I wonder if anyone has gotten MGO to run on steam Deck. Lowest settings but still intriguing
While mgo2 does contain that stealth movement and gameplay of mgs , the ability to blast yell dead cell and punch fulton, run at Mach 5 with the tranq in mgo 3 will forever be my favorite ( not to mention fox engine being amazing)
Mgo2 was the best online game, i Made so many friends, the clan sistem was so unic and haed of its time, survivol and tournmant was soo exciting and competitive
Savemgo you can still play online mgs4 mgo2 that is the best one. I wish you didn’t have to mod your ps3 to play I so would hop on if it was killzone 2 and socom where you can but the dna ip address in.
@@RealDjMarkuZ they havent cared about mgo since kojima left the company so thats the best guess i can give you since mgo was something kojima started with the team as a side project, and even mgo3 being worked on by the LA team was his doing too. Iirc
Lmao, all my analog sticks were killed thanks to MGO XD. I still have the controllers. I ended up getting pad covers off ebay and using silicone to get them fixed in place.
7:30 True. I've found a way to scratch the MGO2 survival itch but, of course, nothing truly compares to the same experience that MGO2 provided. The absolutely best online shooter game ever, even despite the glitchers, DDOSsers and other undesirables that plagued the scene.
@@pRick7734 yeah even me who plays all the time, when it gets bad, im done for the day lol. But it aint like that all the time, so i really enjoy when it plays well. I just wish it was like that all the time lol
I remember playing it back in the days, but I also vividly remember how the game got absolutely demolished by all sorts of cheaters all over the place, is it still the case?
I've been playing it on and off since it came out on PS3, the OG one and the SaveMGO one, when they ported it over to PC I've intruduced so many friends to it, but like you said the skill level meant me destroying them even if I didn't mean to and I tried teaching them, I hope that videos like this make a ton of people join us!
@@Dilsoc as long as people xontinue to try and keep the door open for people to play the game and eventually get to the level they need to be at And teach people what they need to know since alot of this game is very specific. Then people will stick around. But being toxic and or mean to people for getting things wrong wont get the playerbase anywhere, thats atleast how i see it.
@@sgr_sean hey sean I'm sorry I'm trying to tell as many people as possible about the survey Konami has after their newest metal gear hotline series video. Maybe we could get a lot of people to respond to it, translating their words into Japanese for the survey. They wanted Japan only residents for some reason. Might be our only chance to show Konami how much mgo means to us. Maybe they remaster mgo 2 officially or make a new one based off mgo 2 based off of fan feedback
@@hawkstation8866 im sure we will get our chance to make our voice heard once konami does more of these, they already got plenty of data about how much people want mgo, im sure videos like mine are on their radar. the fact they listed mgo at all means their listening, so this is a good sign
@@sgr_sean definitely that was exciting it was listed lol. I'm hopeful at the very least because wasn't mgo 3 just handed off to the LA studio? Whereas 1 and 2 were made in Japan. Plus with the original director for 2 still there, so much potential.
I used to use Raiden and Vamp. I would SLAUGHTER the other team with Raiden’s ability to virtually deflect bullets with his sword. Vamp was also hard to kill and his knife work was impeccable. It was cool as well how you could link up with your teammates and see each other’s locations. From time to time I reflect on how fun it was…………..and how MGO is SORELY missed.
Bro why did I live through the peak era of gaming and not know about it until now? Imagine growing up with 15+ years of Fortnite and GTAV LOL. Could never be me.
god I miss this game. gotta preface this, its Konami, so iffy: I hope with this MGS Delta, and ... "master collection" they think about a new MGO. Part of me would be afraid to bring SaveMGO up to them, but part of me wants to be like "Konami, they've rebuilt and added to this version of MGO... Its THAT good. You have the formula... use it, for the love of god". Hell, they've been doing mobile stuff. Do a mobile PW? idk. OH, Infinity mission for Portable Ops +, spin off that.
MGO2 was fun to play, i remember the grind i spent getting my CQC up to max. I was one of the only max lvl CQC in qll the lobbies i played for a while. Then i started playing hide and seek, we would stumble upon new glitch spots. Those were the times man.
Great content now I have a question what is the best PC to play this on? Please reply with full set up and details. I will be buying my first PC gaming set up in the coming weeks. Money isn't an issue so go ahead and comment what you think I should buy thanks.
Got MGO2 working on my PC the other day. Been having such a blast. I can’t believe how much I retained from the game despite not playing it for 15 years.
MGO3 on PC is unplayable, it's riddled with cheaters and there's lots of lag on top of that, I used to play it a lot back in the day, but gave up on it last year because of the toxic players that sour the entire experience. The game used to have a kick function that was useful to boot cheaters during a match, but was taken out on the last update because people were abusing it and kicking good players. Now you can only kick people during the lobby matching and lots of them join mid match to avoid being kicked, on top of that, even if one manages to kick these cheaters they somehow found a way to come back.
Great video i love mgo, I recently joined MGO I'm at like 60 hours now and I already know how the game work I'm now lvl 16 I try to join TSNE lobbies only because this is the fun at. I sometimes run at this problem of what is fun? running AR2 Run2 is fun for like several of hours of the game but just to notice that everyone is running the same thing i see so many un used talents or skills i could say whole trap system is un used for good players, so many dead talents or skills because AR is superior to everything. you can run other talents such as shotgun or handgun but you always find yourself in super disadvantage scenarios that you wish you could switch your talents or suffer for like 2 rounds of playing with dead talents. i agree with your point of the new changes to the game , new clothes are fun and new maps or new game modes are fun but I really really want to rebalance the game talent systems the game now run at 60 fps and i notice that now the P90 sup machinegun is super super fast shooting when you play with pc. I would like the dev to look again at the 4 point talent for example uni characters are played a lot on TSNE rooms and characters like snake or ocelot have like 20 points of talents they have cqc ex handgun3 ar3 run1 etc... and its not super broken or anything you can cook them easily if you are good at the game why not expand this idea to our characters? i would like to run with Raiden sword or vamp knife in TDM rooms. over the years MGO closed i played different games like World of Warcraft or League or Legends i kinda have different view now of mgo these games (wow, lol) keep changing like every 2 weeks for example. i know many people would argue that keeping stuff classic but for me i played that 1000th of hours when running ar2run2 kinda bore me now thats why i only join TSNE room, as much as i love survival and its come back i already see that good people would run these skill and dominate the night and you many see 1 of the team run shield 3 for objective. Anyway there is much i want to see from MGO but i know i would just get endless arguments that keeping the game classic is best way and it true argument but i think balancing should be their because i know before they add female i remember that AR was not as op as now ? and cqc was dominating but they nerfed it so balance of different view can be looked at, we can say that people at that time didn't know how to counter cqc as of today now you just get cooked if you try to cqc good player. There is some on TSNE you can't actually touch with cqc in TSNE rooms. Great game, i hope it stays forever i wish more people know about how fun its.
