I think the Battlepacks have helped re-energise the game as you straight away get a nostalgia hook to an iconic sifi fighter v fighter movie scene with Yavin, so maybe something like a X-Wing special operation based off Mandolorian, or Rebels, or Clone Wars.
As someone who is new to the game (and have already spent $200+ in ships) I appreciate this video! My father and I love the game and look forward to playing! We will continue to buy any new product that comes out, and if it doesn’t, I don’t care, it’s still a fun ass game!
Well composed; This game, and this community, is truly a testimony of resilient commitment. Let's remember also, AMG has shown more patience and restraint with the dials of design, resulting in potentially the most consistent and comprehensive understanding over the past year to really refine XWM. If we see refined loadouts and points, if we see an added objective or two, if we see more errata & aces packs, if we see increased investment in OP and FLGSs, the game will skyrocket this year with minimal cost to AMG and more profit margin. X wing in my city has fallen off a cliff. Nobody is playing it. My game store no longer sells it or promote it. I've put all of it in storage. I loved this game.
I am very sorry that that has happened in your city. Definitely tough. Although unofficial, playing online is a good way to stay connected to the community at large, And hey, maybe even you'll find some people near you to play with. I recommend you join the discords, GSP, NCX, 312, etc. It's a good way to stay connected to the game while your community rebounds.
same here :( Very sad. It is still my fav game. Even with the new rules. But no one play anymore in my region. Last year i drove 1h30 to go to tournaments. This year the tournaments were all cancelled because of lack of attendance. And none are planned anywhere a 3hours drive radius. It's tough :(
Local gaming communities require leadership. The communities with leaders that have stayed active through this "dawn of AMG" have mostly stayed the same or even grown. Communities with leaders that have been unable to cope with the games changing state have dried up.
I got from a german player an idea to bring those Xwing gamers back who were disappointed about the 2.5 mission rules whih prevent them more or less from dog fighting! If AMG could arrange the rules like this: Beginning with the second round if one player has more mission points as the other one, he earns only 1 Point, if both have same missions , both of them get each 1 point, if only one player has mission points but th ohter not, than he gets 2 points. So this system would lead to play more rounds and also to more dog fights! I think the missions are a good idea but it should not overhelm the game strategy! Second change would be to to bring no name pilots with a better point rating like: no name 2 x wings for 7 points instead of 8, or 2 z-95 for 5 points instead of 6. So it would give more flexibility to build the squads and using once such no name pilots.
I think we are going to see more (probably optional) scenarios and missions, and some different organizations for list building (maybe less optional?) exactly like that - only time will tell 😊
2.5 killed the old x-wing game beloved by many. Both in the gameplay and in list building. I think fundamentally AMG did not understand what most people liked about the game. I think a roll back of the rules would bring a lot back. The game being announced being "complete" might discourage many, but I think a lot would return. I Think you with the old 2.0 games and rules could release a deck, wit either mission, random events, ways to change what happens for a round etc, for those who wants something little extra. But that should be an add on, the rules should be the simple 2.0 ones, meant for dog fighting. That way I think its possible to cater to both kind of players.
The mission rules was only a small part of the reason I stopped playing (and organising events). It was a combination of all those rule changes that fundamentally shifted the game towards more randomness: ROAD over ROBD, new bumping rules, range 0 engagements etc. But the absolute worst part was the way AMG jumped through hoops to justify these changes, clearly showing they had very little understanding of the game's strengths and based their arguments on battles they'd played and watched in early 1.0 days. And their disregard for the player's who shared their grievances. And then the removal of the 200 squad point system, which completely removed generic pilots from the game. The only thing that could bring me back to the game is a complete reversal to 2.0.
Thank you…yes we can play xwing in the future like someone playing monopoly. If Amg disappear we create our own points system… something better than the merchandise pushed meta and the load out, back to 200
