Future video suggestions: - How important were your essays for admissions and what were they about? - What impact did your other channel (LTE) have on your admissions success? - What were your extra curricular activities? - What are things you wish you knew or knew sooner about the application process? - What are things that you know now that you would have done differently in a high school in preparing you to apply to and/or go to college? Continued success to you!
I didn't know you were half Filipino! But I can totally see it now. Pancit is literally my favorite thing. What would you say is/are your source(s) of motivation? It's quite obvious you are a driven person and it must come from somewhere :) I am here from Let's Talk Politics btw!
My mother went to Eleanor Roosevelt! Very interesting to see how one of my favorite political RU-vidrs attended the same high school as my mother. Good luck with all your future ventures Ethan. Best wishes
Do you know if your school is a feeder. I guarantee that ur GPA and rank were a huge factor. Especially since u go to a competitive magnet school. Anyways amazing job dude. The amount of T20s you got accepted to is insane. You def going places. Good luck in ur future endeavors
After looking up the school, I wouldn't say that it's a feeder, but I would definitely say that it is a challenging high school with very difficult classes and the school itself is ranked very highly in education.
I would also recc to submit your test score/ take the SAT/ACT, even subject test because if your GPA/ transcript is on the weaker end, submitting great test scores can be a good mediator.
I'm watching your videos right now and I seriously see that you would actually make a great president/minister. (You should actually think about it). You are active, humble, successful, eloquent, confident, smart, wise, and friendly..... honestly, the world is very lucky to have someone like you. So congratulations and I wish you the best if luck 🍀🍀☀️
Thanks for this video Ethan!!! I’m trying to get into some Ivys as well so this definitely gave me a decent idea of what a Covid environment application should probably look like. Right now i’m just worried about my GPA because my freshman year I had a lot of family issues (my grandma passed away and she was both my second parent and my transportation to school so I had to transfer) so I got a C and a few Bs… ever since then I have had straight As though, so my unweighted is roughly an 3.88 and my weighted is about a 4.27. In theory it should be high enough but so many people like you have 4.5s and up along with banger applications so it’s slightly terrifying but I’ll get through it 👍👍👍 thanks again for the video :))))
@@vladusa this is incorrect. From what I know, many people (including non-athletes) are accepted into Ivies with 3.5+ UW GPA. They look holistically and if you have very impressive extracurriculars, solid honors, and stunning essays... you will get in :)
@@mashrafialam No, it was on the 4.0 scale. I didn’t get in, I think it was because my SATs weren’t high enough and I didn’t submit them, maybe I would have if I at least tried to submit them, who knows. Still going to try to get in for law school, will just work really hard in college :)
I've been debating if I should withhold any AP scores from my applications: only have one 5 and I got a 3 on world and a 3 on seminar. If I'm happy with the other five scores, should I just submit them? edit: btw this video is a HUGE inspiration for me! just got rejected EA from Yale and I felt like I wasn't going to get into any colleges I wanted to. Knowing that my application is so similar to yours is putting me at ease greatly! thanks a lot!
Let's be honest, it wasn't your stats or honors that got you into all those schools. It was the fact that you run an elections analysis RU-vid channel with 150k subscribers, which you didn't mention in this video at all.
that's debatable I think some schools would consider "personal projects" like that but others don't really care which I think is why he didn't mention it
Agreed, I was waiting for him to at least mention that (though he’ll get into it in his next video). That was surely a - if not the - decisive factor, his “spike” that made him stand out.
@@lucabennito3651 eh... ivies are kinda meh on student gov, especially if its only at the school level as opposed to some larger association like a state student council association or a state board of ed thing...
Thanks for this Ethan! My son is 10 1/2 and he has wanted to go to Harvard since he was in kindergarten. I am going to show him this video. He's in 5th grade right now and taking Algebra 1, as he is ahead subject skipped in math, so he's on the right track based on your amazing grades & AP classes. I think this video will provide him with some important knowledge of what he needs to do to get to Harvard. You really gave such a comprehensive view of entrance.
But if you’re not in middle school anymore and want to get ahead you can take summer classes so the next school year you can take a more advance math class
where you stayin at? Just hit a brotha up and we could have fun cuz. You better not ignore me man I feel like we could be something special dawg. sincerely, a newly cemented fan P.S. Our shit could be beautiful fam
Hello, i am a senior journalist from the most prestigious daily news in Vietnam. Just a bit wonder if anyone know Ethan's contact? I do want to interview him for inspiring youths in my country, especially in this challenging Covid-19 concerning to much mental issues. Many thanks.
@@baxterbotox7661 omg good, i found that out a few months ago and I felt so relieved ngl. I'm a sophomore and I was stressing so much about taking at least 8 APs througout my high school career
@@Ella-gb7no I hope you realize that the AP Scholar awards are pretty useless. Just do well in school with a relatively difficult courseload and get a high test score, and spend the rest of your time on meaningful extracurricular activities.
