Josep Sanitjas is a connoisseur and a carnivore. Giuseppe Scionti is an acclaimed bioengineer on a mission to save the planet. Together they’ve created a 3D steak that not only aces the taste test, but sizzles, crisps and drips just like the real thing.
It’s fresh off the printer and onto the plate at El Santuari, a steakhouse just outside of Barcelona, voted in the top 101 steak restaurants in the world - it’s no surprise diners are more acquainted with exotic prime cuts such as wagyu, zebra and crocodile.

giuseppe is a genius for his ingenuity in creating this product, and josep is badass for opening the door to meat alternatives in a setting where meat-lovers would normally point it out as blasphemous. one of the best examples of an unlikely duo putting their minds together to change the world. one of my favorite gbs episodes by far.

SO much work to make FAKE meat when for millions of years people have been using Pastures for Their Animals to Graze and housing them in Sheds to keep warm! NO amount of "duplicating" "growing stem cells" can EVER give the Protein and minerals that are NEEDED for humans to live. !!! REAL Cows, Pigs, Sheep, Chickens, Ducks etc can give from them just grazing freely in Nature!! Why ALL OF A SUDDEN is that so hard EVER HEARD OF CROP ROTATION AND ROTATIONAL GRAZING????? What about all of the micro amounts of vitamins and important nutrients that you are missing? What about the experience of being human, and being proud of an ancestry of hunting and gathering and struggle? "Oh that was then and now is now, we aren't like that any more!" Human civilizations have never lasted, we are no different. It doesn't and in ways it isn't healthy either. It is a processed food full of sodium. There hasn't been enough long term research to know what effects the 3D "meat" would have if it became a primary resource of protein. Pea protien causes enlarged hearts and eventually early death in large breed dogs. Im not saying it is the same in humans, just that the fake meat might not be so good for health as vegan advocates claim.

One genius who is not contemporary is Leonardo Da Vinci. He refused to eat meat. He is in good company. Some other intelligent, widely admired people who chose not to eat meat- Pythagoras, Socrates, Voltaire, Newton, Benjamin Franklin, Nikolai Tesla, Albert Einstein, Gandhi, Albert Schweitzer, George Bernard Shaw, Tolstoy, Thoreau, Saint Francis of Asisi, Nobel laureate and holocaust survivor Isaac Bashevis Singer, and many more. Some on this list switched late in life, but stayed on it to the end. Ben Franklin switched at age 16. "Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet." -Einstein (Of course today, he would be vegan. So would the others on this list.) The famous Professor of Physics Brian Greene is vegan. You may have seen him on PBS hosting science shows for the layman. Jane Goodall recently went from a long time vegetarian to vegan. Greta Thunberg is vegan. Jon (Daily Show) Stewart is not only vegan, he owns a farm animal sanctuary!

That's probably not going to happen. Many technologies in the past were designed to allow for individuals to make their food at home, but in the end factory mass production pretty much always won out. People are far more likely to want to go to the local store and buy a piece of 3D printed meat, as compared to wanting to have a large machine in a house with already limited space, that effectively does the same, but far more cumbersomely. A good example of a technology that was supposed to do just that, was an inventor who created a patent for a home cereal rolling machine, to make products like rolled oats, but the consumers en masse preferred just buying premade rolled cereal instead.

She will misinterpret the point of videos she responds to in order to push her views, and has made horribly insensitive comparisons to the holocaust. She also tries to push veganism on litterally everyone regardless of someone's personal health issues and despite having no formal education in biology, nutrition, or anything dietary related. Also, from what little content of hers I've personally watched she is just plain annoying. Thus, a frequent point of conversation in comments sections.

The comments about "Sorry! This isn't real meat so don't call it meat!" are so weird to me. Like what do you want them to call it? If it's meant to look and taste like meat and be an appetizing choice for people who don't want to eat real animal meat how do you expect them to call it anything but something with the word meat in the name. This is really cool, but the problem is, if I go to a restaurant serving both normal meat and this vegan meat, if the vegan meat seems too similar to the normal meat that it is indistinguishable, then I have no way of knowing if it is actually the vegan meat or they got the order wrong. It makes me uncomfortable as their is no way to know for sure. I need there to be some defining factor within it to identify that it isn't real animal meat. But something like this would still be great for home cooking.
