The Steps Barrington Campground is about 270km North of Sydney between Gloucester and Copeland. Our camping trip to The Steps Barrington was in May and we found the average temp got up to 20 degrees during the day. The temp did drop overnight to about 4-5 degrees so we do recommend to bring some warm clothes.
The drive in is very pleasant as you drive through the rolling hills and pass many cattle and dairy farms along the way.
We particularly loved that the campground is right beside the Barrington River which is picturesque and can be enjoyed during the warmer months canoeing, kayaking along the rapids. Each camp zone is allocated 15-20 people and a few fire pits for open campfires to be enjoyed. There is no mobile phone reception anywhere in the area so it gives us a great opportunity to truly switch off.
We found The Steps Barrington campgrounds to be very well maintained with clean amenities and friendly staff..
We ventured into Copeland Tops and walked a the Hidden Treasure Track which is a 3.3km walk along some gorgeous rainforest along the Copeland Creek. During the walk we saw remnants of the mining heritage in the area which dates back to the 1800’s.
We really enjoyed this walk and would say it is is fairly easy to do so we highly recommend it to anyone who is in the area.

Really like your videos guys: practical, informative and down-to-earth. We are also considering a Jayco Journey Outback a bit further down the track. We also have a Fortuner and I was wondering how does the Fortuner cope with the towing weight? How does it effect fuel consumption? You mentioned that you have 2 80L tanks how long does that amount of water last? Thanks again.

Hi Peter, thanks for taking the time out to comment. Fuel consumption with the Fortuner when we are towing is within the range of 13 to 14 litres per 100ks, in saying that we have had an engine remap on the Fortuner which gives us more power, torque and fuel efficiency. We have also had it lifted with heavier springs in the rear but you could get air bags which is a cheaper option. We use about 60litres a day thats bathing kids, also filling up our portable toilet with flush water. Hope this info helps 😁

Love your videos! Great tips on various camp sites. Saw you have a Darche folding fire pit. Do you find that it still burns the grass from the heat that’s reflected off it? Or does the base do a good job?
