There is a supply demand analogy that works well with stock prices; however, more buys does not always mean price up more sells does not always mean price down. Remember, there is always a buyer to every seller. It is a bid ask system. 💙

After looking at how futures move (they are already 24hr) my guess is some spikes in volume will happen around the times other countries markets open, but for the majority of the night it will be uneventful. There may be more movement a couple of hours before the current market opening time, and less people trying to close positions in the afternoon.

Does Big A not know that everyone’s trades (that hit the open market) are public? You can copy Nancy’s trades seconds after she makes them if you wanted to…not because she is a public figure you could copy what any given account is trading. Retirement funds split up their large orders for this reason, because you can see the order before it fills & match it by buying out everything below that strike price to sell to them at that exact price (stealing that difference from the fund)

Ummmm there are traders outside of US time zones and you can already trade off market when the NY exchanges are closed. This is already happening. And all Wall St banks have flunkies in London, Singapore, Hong Kong, Sydney (Australia which is a country). The solution for stocks to trade 24 hours is: 1) Stock that is involved in commodities market heavily 2) These is because these stocks price movement are tied heavily on the futures price movements. 3) These proxy commodities stock are vulnerable to the price change in the closing hours. If the futures are down in the closing hours, the next morning, opening hours. These stock can gap up or down significantly, making a lot of people loose a lot of money. 4) Proxy commodities stocks should be open 24 hours trading just like their futures counter part. Not just futures where there is a lot of people short the market that can still make a lot of money which is such BS.

All 24/7 trading benefits is the AI traders that order trades solely based on an algorithm and don’t need to be actual people. We’re getting closer to robots and AI deciding if publically traded companies succeed or fail solely based on trades that will only benefit the trader and that’s it, and I’m honestly all for it.

I think a big reason why people that end up ruling on things that affect the stock value of the company are allowed to trade (nancy pelosi) is to prevent a conflict of interest in their decision making. That way they dont feel financially obligated to vote a certain way about a certain company. And sure you could argue they shouldnt be allowed to buy stocks at all while they are in office, however this becomes a problem when you realize this makes basically any retirement plan be unavailable for them. So while the economic loss of not being allowed access to the stock market can be compensated can be addressed by an increase in salary, the exponential difference in retirement savings cant be made increasing salaries becuase it would require ~triple their salary, though maybe doing exactly that would be better overall, im not sure and my brain is too small to think how that would affect things.

The old days of going over stocks manually and looking at reports and charts is kind of over. Now a days everything is automated. So going to a 24hr won't change anything for wallstreet, however rookie investors that don't have these tools will get fucked. So if anything this benefits wallstreet.

I think the nasdaq could pretty easily move to 24/hr trading with no real issues along as the liquidity is there bc the only real advantage of RTH is to push all the liquidity into set hours effectively raising liquidity and effectively decreasing the bid/spread. The US markets are the most liquid in the world, so it's definitely possible. The NYSE, however, has a hybrid electronic and a physical 1987 style - two phones at once trading floor. So idk how that would work bc you dont wanna get stuck with the swing shift floor trader... he coked out fs.

What they should do is get rid of pre/post market trading, imo thats where most of the market manipulation happens because it takes relatively tiny amouts of capital to move the price. Instead they should extend the RTH to the same as the full hours so 4am-8pm ET. This will let volume tapper up and off more organically and imo lower volatility by removing weird low volume trading hours.
