Aye..the structure and melody’s added with (most there lyrics) the chemistry of there dynamics, musicianship ..some dodgy lyrics but most of the lyrics w cool n all..just all the ingredients for a grt band..so glad to say I got too see em back in the day..didn’t really rate comeback material or the massive stadium tours..they deserved all the money and adulation they got tho..fair play too em
Lyrics to Your Star Will Shine Your star will shine again one day Through deep blue velvet skies Shine for all the world to see The universe in your eyes When the storm outside is raging And the dogs they howl your name Lay down sleep and I'll kiss you Your star will shine again Hush my darling don't you cry I'll stay by your side until morning All through the night I'll watch the skies Your distant sun Will shine like the gun That's trained right between your Daddy's eyes
I was at this gig in 95 and Heaton Park on Friday. I told the mate I was with that Brownie sang better way back when, and here's the proof. Still cool as f*ck mind....
this performance alone proves Ian can sing, just a shame he's always been put down for his terrible performances due to him not being to hear himself over the fantastic music!!!
Back in the day..I managed to blag backstage at 1 of the gigs (Whitley bay Ice ring of memory serves me right?) then every gig after that the roses kept sticking us on the backstage guest list at the following gigs..fckin unbelievable times..bumped into LG at the Manchester 1 too..I was sat with them whilst they we’re flicking/picking out some publicity fotos and I cheekily asked for 1..squire was having none of it..god loves a tryer 🤣
pretty much all in E apart from the last part.. "all through the night.." is A.. theres a few ways of doing the song, open e tuning sounds top and you can do both the rythm and the nice bits john does over the top as you can hear in the clip... standard in E.. or Capo 2nd fret and play a D chord is then E
ahh what a wonderful freer time when you could walk into a pub/gig, spark up a spliff.. Now you break 165 violations if you smoke a cigarette in a public place ! ;-) Dublin
ihavebig he's said I'm interviews it's because he couldn't hear himself over the music so he would sing louder to hear himself, unfortunately he didn't realise at the time that meant his vocals would sound terrible as he didn't know how vocals could be effected by singing slightly louder. the dude can sing it's just unfortunate there's hardly any evidence.
