The Skarloey Railway begins an ambitious expansion into the Nartwin Valley. Unfortunately, its progress is hindered by a number of issues and setbacks.
Yeah and unless I’m mistake Murray had been with Andreas since the episode Sabotage(remember the one where Burke forced him off the line and Andreas said “Of course Murray”). I’ll bet money that Murray gave Andreas a send off at his funeral, not only for saving his life but for being an old friend.
I wasn't expecting to see Andreas go out like this. In fact I think aside from Bruce, he's one of the most developed characters in this series. He started out rather pompous and then became a more mature engine.
Although now I think about it Andreas dying in context does seem logical since he is never mentioned or seen in TTTE so either he did not exist or he was long gone and forgotten
RIP Andreas. He really was a useful engine. Also, I have a theory: most of the SKR’s engines are wearing a similar livery to what they had in the tv series; even Stuart and falcon still have their blue and green liveries. Duncan is the exception, still wearing red like Skarloey, Rheneas, and Ivo Hugh. Given that Andreas was a shade of yellow, what if Duncan gets repainted a golden-yellow color as a way to honor Andreas? That would be good character development for Duncan and a fitting memorial for the MSR’s faithful express engine.
I think I speak for everyone when I say Victor has become one of the greatest original Thomas content creators of the past ten years. The storytelling and visuals are something I never saw when I first entered the online fandom in 2007 and here we are today witnessing greatness.
R.I.P Andreas, he died a hero saving Duncan. May he see the other engines and people who've passed on. Lily, Colin, Adam, Alfred, Mr. Starr, and everyone else.
Damn... that was a huge shock at the end. RIP Andreas. He was essentially the "Gordon" of the narrow gauge engines - he started out as a self-absorbed express engine, but over time he matured and became much more humble and caring. Really sad to see his story end like this, but at least he went out as a hero saving Duncan.
It’s so sad that Andreas died. He really was a dedicated, hardworking, reliable and really useful engine. Rest In Peace Andreas the Mid Sodor Railway’s express engine. You will never be forgotten by anyone on the Island of Sodor wether it’s people and engines will never forget you.
Jesus that was an ending and a half. Can't lie, it hit me harder than usual. I won't spoil it but damnit Victor you played the audience like a fool there.
The way Duncan shouted “ANDREAS!” Was probably the loudest Victor Tanzig has ever shouted Seeing that teaser before the credits as well as this episode, this season’s gonna be emotional as hell, isn’t it?
The fascinating part of this to me is what it means. Andreas was done up in a golden yellow - the same as Duncan has in the TV series in all formats. Clever integration.
Christmas and death, a joyful miracle. Merry Christmas everyone. Being serious now, this episode definitely lives off the expectation of eventful. First of all, glad to see Rusty making his full debut into Stories of Sodor and seeing the events of the expansion into the Nartwin Valley that was hinted in the second Sodor Special. Really enjoyed Rusty's character here, same with Duncan and Andreas, they were really great in this episode. So the Creature is called Nartwin and they're humanoid and hairy, that's interesting - so it's like Sudrian version of Bigfoot from what I'm seeing - well whatever it is, I'm very interested to know more about that creature, next week on New Year's. The ending here is just... wow. Seeing the trucks explode due to terrible safety-ness and causing the landslide to happen, that was stressfully emotional and seeing Andreas sacificing himself to save Duncan... I have no words. It's lucky that he went crewless for caring about his driver's health. He'll be missed for his heroic actions. I don't blame the Mid-Sodor engines for helding him easily responsible for that, they do have a good point. In the end, it was definitely eventful. Don't really have much feedback to say. Awesome work Victor, Merry Christmas!
Man dude, this sucks, losing Andreas was sad, and it’s all The Supervisor’s fault! Andreas was one of my favorite engines in The Stories Of Sodor, he was a hard worker, and thanks to that damn Supervisor, he’s I hope that this evil prat dies in prison!
@@drawbeastboy3120 I swear if Anything happens to Stanley, I'll blow my top...him and Andreas are my favourite characters...in my AU they are saved before Duke was ever found, rebuilt and more mature engines, but they still hate Duke, and old manager for what they did to them.
@@marsandcobblesproductions3501 Andreas and Stanley are my two favorite narrow gauge engines of the series. If Stanley bites it then I swear to god I’ll bawl..
@@wolfzillaproductions4563 And a certain red and grey pup character of min will cry as Stanley is like an uncle to her...also she hates for turning Stanley into a pumping engine
Dang... That ending was a real heavy shock, but very well handled. Kudos to you, Victor, for once again handling such events with dignity and grace. Your work is truly splendid.
Man, this episode continues the death of our favorite characters. First we lost Colin, Lily, Alfred, and Mr. Starr from World War 2, then we lost Adam after he suffered from Metal Fatigue and had a final firing, and now Andreas who saved Duncan's life while being destroyed by an avalanche of Rocks. Overall, a very well done episode Victor and I loved the Thomas references from Season 4 especially the cut you down from size one.
What an episode this was. I honestly did not see Andreas dying coming, he was definitely one of the most developed characters in this series, he certainly came far.
I agree. I thought since Rusty was being added to the series a death wouldn’t happen but I was wrong and I wish Andreas wasn’t the one that died. But why do I feel like we’re going to see another death next week. Atlas, I have a horrible feeling he’ll die next week or sir handle and Peter sam(the men not the engines). I’m just glad Murray wasn’t on Andreas, remember he was the driver during the episode “Sabotage” so given that was set in the 30s and this episode was in the 60s, Murray must have been quite an old man(I’d guess at youngest 55) and despite everything I’m glad he wasn’t on board(Duncan had a point. Better one death than…more than one).
@@andrewobrien8325 you could be on to something, if Mr Peter Sam and sir handel died it would explain why Stuart and falcon change there names, it would be out of respect
@@hksproductions8507 I hope I’m wrong. But I suspect not, I called Adam’s death so wouldn’t be the first time I made a grim prediction and it came true(though if I’am, I invite you to come and back in a week and say haha you were wrong).
First it was the w and s trio then mister Starr and alfred now Andreas. That engine was a pompous engine on the MSR but when transferred to the SKR he changed. Such a heroic way to go. RIP Andreas. The SKR will remember you Have yourself a wonderful sodor Christmas Victor and see you next friday for "Creature"
I think after Andreas's departure, we might see a new character take his place: Fred. Fred would make sense, as he's also a diesel, like Rusty, and these events take place during the dieselization era. As for who's fault it was, I don't think Duncan could've done anything to prevent Andreas's death. While Duncan did put Andreas in a dangerous situation, Andreas would've died anyway if the train of dynamite he was given had exploded while he was pulling it, so I think Duncan is right in that it's much more fortunate that the dynamite exploded when and where it did, because it would've likely killed him, Andreas, AND Andreas's guard.
The fact this dropped exactly at midnight AEST, (Australian Eastern standard time) on Christmas is one hell of a present to receive before heading to sleep for the night. Absolutely stunning video as ever; and looking forward to all the more videos to come! Well done Victor!
RIP Andreas. I love his character development from a rather pompous asshole to a more mature friendlier engine. Hearing him defend Atlas and calling him his friend shows how far he came. Like Dunkin said he died a hero saving his life.
What a way to go out. If only we've had seen the remains of Andreas. But good vid. Can't help but feel bad for Duncan. He was always my favorite Narrow Gauge Engine.
That gives me an idea for a future story. Many years have passed since Andreas' fatal accident, and Duncan has been carrying a heavy guilt on his buffers ever since. His guilt gets so bad that he thinks he starts seeing Andreas' ghost in the valley. Duncan's fears are confirmed when Atlas encounters the spirit of his lost friend a few nights after Duncan gets spooked. As a result, Duncan gets paranoid and refuses to work at night because of his trauma. Eventually, Jeffrey tells Duncan of his similar situation with Alfred, which helps the SKR's #6 feel better and move on.
@@dracoarton94 that’s a good idea. I hope Duncan gets closure over Andreas’ death, since he witnessed it first hand. That’s completely traumatizing, which I can understand given my personal experience.
Wow! Another unexpected end on the Island of Sodor. And after he went through a whole redemptive arc and everything. This will teach Duncan a few things. Thanks for this wonderful Christmas eve gift, Victor!
Nooooooooo! Not Andreas! As if WildNorwester version of him being a turned boat was bad enough...now he's...actually dead. And I thought Adam's death was the last
I like the new concept of a engine piloting itself because like Edward said in an earlier episode they could drive them self and I like it that you are expanding on this
What a story...the build-up from start to finish is epic. Great set-up for the next episode as well. RIP Andreas. This series really makes you care for these characters. Massive props Victor.
Holy Hell! I didn't see Andreas' death coming. All the while watching the episode, I was going on about how he's one of the best Characters. This was probably the most impactful death of the series, even more than those in the war and Adam as with those, we kinda knew they were coming. Rest in Peace Andreas, You will be missed
Man, Andreas's death was something I didn't see coming. At least he went out like a hero. May the Mid Sodor Railway's number two forever be remembered and join Adam, Colin, Lily, Mr Star, and Alfred in eternal vigilance over the engines and railways on the Island of Sodor.
Frankly, I'm now wondering if *all* OCs are gonna die at some point in this series. We lost Collin, Lily, Alfred, and Adam, who were all OCs and not official ttte characters
@@BlooMonkiMan Stanley (narrow gauge), Ivo Hugh, Eric, Paul, Reginald, Geoffrey, Peter, Clive, Neil, Matthew and etc. It’s just really sad to see Andreas die in a rockslide saving Duncan’s life in the process.
@@BlooMonkiMan Well, I wouldn't say all. We know William is going to come to the island at some point and so is Barry, and that big red tender engine we see in the intro.
Poor Duncan, he lost probably the closest thing he had to a friend, and now it looks like half the fleet hates his boiler tubes. (I wonder how this will be followed up next episode?)
Rest in peace, Andreas. You will surely be missed by all of us. By the way... that gives me an idea for a future story.
First Colin Then Alfred and Mr. Star Then Lily Later Adam Now Andreas... First, an arrogant prat, then became one of the best beloved characters in the series
That was a whirlwind of an episode! Great Job Victor. I do have a theory however, about the Nar-twin and the Lucky Lamp. Referring to the Last episode of Season Three: Fog, Edward was questioned by members of the SCP Foundation. With that in mind, and after doing some research, I’ve come up with what classification those two would fall under. The Lucky Lamp would be classified under Safe and the Nar-twin would be classified under Euclid Class. The Nar-twin would be difficult to catch, being able to walk on two legs. As for the lamp, even though it’s well known for spontaneous travel, it has no malicious intentions, (that we know of). That’s just my theory though. Regardless, Great Episode, really caught me off guard with Andreas’ death too.
When Andreas died, Atlas was definitely hurt the most. I think that Atlas doing a speech about Andreas was sweet because he could remember when Andreas was pompous until Andreas apologised to Atlas for his rude behaviour and Andreas respected Atlas ever since.
Just how I like to spend my Christmas. Up at 1:30am watching a show about talking trains and then watching one such train be flattened by a rock. Ah yes tis the season to be jolly. But in all seriousness this was a great episode and andreas's death was a shock. May I also mention that with every episode the cinematography gets better. Well.done Victor.
Rest in peace Andreas, that scene tho..it hit me real hard as Andreas was my 2nd favorite narrow guage character he will be forever miss now he is with the others...and merry Christmas Victor Tanzig
Hey Vic long time fan here. I just want to say how much I appreciate you for what you do. I enjoy your videos and even though I thought i would grow out of your videos during the time you didn't upload I am confident to say they still hit the same.
To be honest, with how fast that Andreas was able to move and save Duncan, he could have most likely reversed at the same speed an cleared the radius of the rock. To be honest it’s a good think that duncan kept his mouth shut because if he said something out of context, big enough to anger the engines so much so that they want him dead, sir Handel might of sent him to Barry if you guys know what I mean. Rest In Peace, Andreas the fearless
@@jonistan9268 then how come adams body is as scrapped. What about all the other British rail blokes who got scapped? Non faceless engines can be scrapped.
@@jonistan9268 In Victor's series, once an non-faceless engine has taken black water, like Adam for example, they're basically dead. So yes, they can be scrapped. But they have to be dead already in order to do so. Gyro was probably implying that Duncan would've possibly be force-fed black water before he gets scrapped. I could be wrong about that possible implication though...
@@TheWesterner9 in this series, only dead non-faceless vehicles can be scrapped, like Adam who did the black water thing or Arthur who crashed himself, dying instantly. As an owner you can't just be like yeah I'm scrapping you, bye because that would probably be murder or something.
Two episodes in and this was very eventful. Getting ready for Episode 3 and now the death of Andreas. Geez, this was eventful. Merry Christmas Victor. Thanks for the Christmas gift.
@@Thatspuremental Cricket. England vs Australia test series is called the Ashes, and it's the biggest rivalry is sport. Victor's an Aussie (and has talked about cricket in some videos), I'm English, and an Ashes series is currently going on and Australia are 2-0 up with 3 to play
@@thethreerailwayengines825 thank you for explaining. I be honest i don't watch any type of sports so when i read your comment. I really thought you was talking about fire for some reason. Lol.
Interestingly, _The Little Old Engine_ came out in 1959, two years _before_ the events of this episode. And Rusty came to Sodor in 1957, apparently the same year Diesel arrived. How did the Rev. W. Awdry in this timeline know about Rusty? And did he _predict_ some of the events involving him and Duncan? I imagine Billy Shoepack's son was that supervisor? Seems to make sense now, given Billy's line of work. Just wish he gave his kid a lot more discipline... First Colin, then Alfred, then Lily, now Andreas. That last one reminded me of "Bill, Ben and Fergus". Another really good episode, Victor! A Merry Christmas Eve! Looking forward to seeing the Nartwin close-up!
I was really shocked when the Boulder crashed into Andreas. I thought he had luck just like whiff did when he was doing military training. But I’m glad that Andreas’ driver went to see a doctor, hopefully he gets well soon.
This is one of the best early Christmas presents ever! Merry Christmas Victor! Edit: Wow, after seeing this I didn’t expect Andreas to die, he will be missed 🪦
Out of all of the stories of sodor, despite how sad it is. This is one of my favorite episodes overall! Good work Victor! Have a happy holidays and a fantastic new year!
And that’s another unfortunate occurrence. I was kinda surprised how quickly Andreas was killed off, although I’ve noticed that seemed to be the case with engines which do not appear in the modern series I hope this doesn’t mean Eric,Peter and Reginald are going to perish…
I absolutely enjoy your original stories, how well all the episodes are created, and the development in every character. If your series were books I would have read them all twenty times over. I can't wait for the next episode. Merry Christmas and happy New Year!
I can't believe Andreas has died. May he rest in peace. It's a miracle his guard got out the break van. I bet Duncan would have himself painted yellow to honour Andreas for saving his life. Another tragic 😥 episode.
I know you are trying to keep the story to the current timeliness, so a few more will have to go when the stories are caught up. But its always so sad to see them go, yes they go out heroically, but they are so interesting characters and like Andreas had such a character development that it hurt that bit more.
@@loanedengineproductions I know! Andreas is one of the most devoted workers of both the Mid Sodor and Skarloey railways, and it’s terrible he was killed the way he did.
I’m so glad your making the stories of so for again it’s been 4 years since you where making the stories of sodor for so long it’s amazing 1. The engines are great 2. Great going working hard on the project and 3. Your amazing of acting and everything else keep up the great work
I seriously hope someone is going to set Mid Sodor guys straight on what they’re doing to Duncan. I mean, it was bad enough when Douglas and Henry went through this. Do we seriously need another repeat of that?
To be fair, they think Duncan is a lazy complainer who doesn’t appreciate anything. So they of course would blame him for the death of a friend they’ve worked with for decades.
Well, the grudge between henry and douglas was nothing sort of a rivalry, if Douglas said an insult, Henry would insult back, and the would go on till separated In duncan's case, he didn't said a word in reply, it's more one-sided so Duncan is suffering a lot of mental-pain, he is really suffering very very much tough
