Timothy Leary was a CIA spook, doubt he spent any time in prison. As he said himself regarding his jailbreak calling it a humorous prank. That could be an apt description for most of Leary’s story. He was a man of high connections and was placed into the position he’s well known for, for good reason(s). Jimi more than likely was well aware of who and what he was and maybe had his arm twisted to do the gig. Three songs only says a lot. Great video, throughly enjoy your work and all the Jimi material, thank you.
He was no CIA spook!...But, he was a hustler of sorts..in the 1970s, He toured with Abbie Hoffman, and the dude who wrote "Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail"...The three of them expounded on the various construed "meanings" of the 1960's social turmoil. I attended one of these sessions, and came away with the idea that all three of them were basically "posers".
@@curbozerboomer1773Leary wasnt a poser. He never backed down or changed his tune on what he stood for. He was there with john and yoko in canada. How many other musicicans or counterculture heads were there? Not too many. Just the fact that he showed up goes to show you, that peace, mental/emotional/spiritual revolution had deep meaning to him. And he stood by those beliefs for the rest of his life.
That is definitely true, as was many so-called iconic figures of the era, many college campus' were breeding grounds for experimental programs (all funded by the CIA/MK Ultra program) designed to break people down, reprogram minds to be influential for the scripted elitist agenda. Never believe written history, it's like trusting the news or politicians to be honest with you, that's the biggest mistake to make, always do your own digging and research rather than take a word or story as factual without question.
Wasn't in the right buisness to b a poser he was handsome, but he went to jail niel purcel made sure and to this day he blames Leary for the drug problem (I dont)
Personally, I must confess that I've never thought too much of Leary. Regardless, this is an excellent piece of contextualisation in relation to the main series. Thanks, Belly Button Window.
John Lennon later wrote the song ' John Sinclair ' which helped him ( John Sinclair ) get released from prison. Same punishment as Leary , as quoted in the song ; ' They gave him 10 ( years ) for 2 ( joints ).
