Good video Wayne, I regularly go hiking at a nearby area designated as "A Wild and Sceanic River". It's a beautiful area that covers many miles. There are certain popular areas but then there are also areas where It would seem that no other person has ever been. I can wander in any of these "unused" wooded areas and always find trash that was left behind. I've been going there for years and I'm still surprised when I find trash in out of the way places. I guess the thought process of leaving trash behind in a wilderness makes no sense to me.

Thanks Daren. Yes it’s a real shame when rubbish gets dumped I agree there is no sensible reason for it and it can only do harm. I’ve noticed a trend that the more people show locations and encourage people to go there, not only are there consequences from the additional footfall but often more rubbish gets left behind too.

interesting video, and something I struggle with also. One item that seems to be overlooked in the commentary, is the fact that though the photographer(s) have to "consider nature" it seems that most of these include use of single/low user vehicles to access, you do mention a full carpark and more vehicles queued. The impact is not solely on this particular sight, it's on the whole environment. I was just reading a blog from a local bird photographer who just drove 900km just to go take shots of one rarity, as if this was normal and without even questioning the impact on all the fauna.

Thanks for watching and for your comment. I agree that there is so much more that I could discuss but I had to be mindful of the video length and I also didn’t want to appear to be ranting. I completely agree about the general impact of travel, through my own choice I never travel too far for my own photography. I specialise in landscape and wildlife photography so I’m often considering the wildlife too and the effects on that. I have seen myself and heard of many cases of wildlife being driven away or at least affected due to a number of reasons, often it is related to “content” advertising a location or the wildlife. @@WayneRobertsonPhotography note that i did not feel you were ranting, and in fact did acknowledge that you are somehow part of the problem, for which you deserve to be commended by contrast to other creators who do not seem to even acknowledge their impact, and where do we draw balance.

Its happening more and more now unfortunately. In the Netherlands, farmers have had to put up large fences and signs telling people to stay off their poppy fields because so many 'influencers' are walking all over them and walking on the poppys.

Yes I agree. I read a few reports about the poppies - a real shame. All for a photo or video …

People generally speaking have zero sense of respect for the landscape which is a shame, if only they could listen to Runrig, which would tell them a lot about respecting the areas such as Skye.

I agree that Skye is really struggling due to how many people go there, and of course what some people do when there. I think some people will respect nature and be aware of their actions. On the other side there are those won’t don’t and will seek to create “content” for personal gain regardless of the cost to nature. Of course there are many other issues such as litter etc. which I didn’t discuss in this video. Thanks for watching and for sharing your thoughts.
