I have a mother similar to yours, she always seemed to be in competition of me. Just remember, We can't make someone change towards us and shouldn't chase after them to accept us. Just know it isn't you and spend your energy on those that love you unconditionally ❤️

@@kenyavictory2498 you know how long it took me to learn that hard lesson. LOL I remember a gf of mine asked me years ago was my own mother jealous of me. Mind you she only met her twice and briefly at that. It makes me sad these days cuz she passed from an overdose back in 2015 and then I find out all these family secrets that included me and how I came about. It's all been so much to deal with but she missed out at the end of the day. She always taught me to speak up for myself. I guess she couldn't do that for herself. Maybe in her next lifetime.

I love your comment, "that’s the kind of reaction you want from anyone who says they love you, especially a parent". I finally bought my house in my early 50's and my mum and 3 siblings (sisters) except from my dad, brother and his wife (exceptional) all came into my new home like nothing happened and to say I and my husband carry this family along is an understatement. Three years after, I am still emotionally bruised but will continue to do good and celebrate people because that is my focus. God is great! My mum and sisters could not even pretend for me and my family, even as Christians! I learnt fast that families are not always your family! This right here is all what we wish for, a real good family that will celebrate one another. May God bless Nyomi and her family and I also celebrate those that are taping into this blessing. Sorry for the rant but i was moved by your statement, God bless you!

@@user-fv2vo2ir2d I was able to make that statement because I’m living it. My family sounds similar to yours, unfortunately. My mother and siblings are the same way. I’ve genuinely been happy for all their blessings even in times when I had absolutely nothing and needed what they had. I didn’t coveted their blessings because I knew that my blessings were coming too. I had to learn the hard way that everybody ain’t me. And, I had to come to grips with my expectations. “When people show you who they are, believe them the first time.” ~Maya Angelou. Personally, I’m still learning to keep my business (ie breakthroughs and successes) to myself. Everybody ain’t gonna be happy for you, even if you think they’re suppose to be. How many times God has to keep showing us just because we are from them doesn’t mean we are of them? He set us apart for a reason. Step into your new season. Let them go! Your expectations, your hurt, your hope that they’ll change, and your desire to be seen, appreciated and understood by them - I combine the enemy’s hold on you that’s keeping you stuck in yesteryear’s pain. Sometimes you gotta feed people with a long spoon, even family. They’ve shown you that they’re either incapable or unwilling to do better. I’ve been hit with this reality as well. So, I know it ain’t easy. But, we deserve better! You and I are both are worthy of having people around us that celebrate our triumphs. Keep in mind, Naomi in the Bible found that support and loyalty in Ruth; and they weren’t blood related. I don’t know about you, but I’m taking that step to find my tribe, including my Ruth. I’ll always love my family, but I’m going to love them in a way that I don’t continue to dishonor and disappoint myself. I pray you do the same. See, we all rant every once in a while. 😊
