What is your all-time favorite Kai Tracid production / remix? BTW on my Patreon I will give away a signed Kai Tracid CD soon! Link to my Patreon in the video description!
Not only is Kai an amazing producer but is also such a genuine person, which is sadly an incredibly rare sight these days. This is exactly why I decided to stick with his music for so many years. Thank you for this great interview and good luck with all future projects!
And maybe it's an artist who did most of the work of his tracks by himself. Because though in the EDM scene it seems like every DJ is almost doing everything by himself, it's usually a lot of teamwork, vocals are bought and the music is written around it and so on. But back in the days when Kai produced his music, things were simpler I guess.
@@SavedByGrace_CitizenEmperorユウ EDM\Electro House is mainly produced in America and is a mutated by product of electronic music from EU, thanks to the likes of people like David Guetta\Afro Jack.
@@muzikxpress Well, combining a couple simple layers in a few hours and not asking "how can I improve the soundscapes I want to paint - let me try a couple of different things here and there" sounds more like a lazy production to me than "creative process"
A very engaging interview. It's very informative. He was frank and open in his conversation with you. It was good to know all the details. I didn't know he made a remix for La Bouche until recently and also, that he knows Lane McCray. I have had the pleasure to meet Kai as well as Lane. Kai is a cool, down to the earth person. He is a legend and among the best artists. He has a unique sound and that's what great about his productions. His Dreamstate 2019 was among the top 5 sets and was unreal. People went nuts and couldn't stop raving about it. I was looking forward to some of his other U.S. gigs this year. It sucks that Corona had to ruin everything. 😡 Great interview. 😍🙌🏽👏🏽
Legend. Tb 303 and 909 and vintage synth to be more cool!He mentioned Talla and Taucher. At that time they made "Together",great track too.Viva and MTV in 90's were something now you can dream only about .
I became interested in this "new" techno hype when I discovered when I discovered Charlotte De Witte playing Kai Tracid. And Lo and Behold, after not too long Kai made a comeback with Techno. When i saw DT64 in the charts I went bananas. :D
18:04 This guy has to be hands down the one who carries the most life wisdom ever interviewed on this show, its almost like he's speaking from the context/perspective of he's track "Kai Tracid - For Just One Day" and Kai Tracid - Too Many Times.
Thank you for this interview. Kai Tracid seems to be a really nice guy. Though he kinda stopped releasing music after his 3rd album or at least in his signature style, I consider his Kai Tracid stuff of his 3 albums as absolut classics. I don't know why his tracks are so good. It's probably because they have a lot of depth in them. Good melodies is one thing, nice beats and synths another thing. But having good thoughtful lyrics is something special, especially in dance music but honestly for most genres. I'm still listening to his tracks from around 1999-2003 regularly and they don't seem to get old.
What a great interview! He is a very cool down to earth guy. His music has always been really special to me. It was a time when I was playing clubs every week and his tracks were always in my record bag. It almost makes me feel sad now hearing the tunes as it reminds me of how passionate I was about all the new music coming out at the time and how it's not quite the same for me any more. I don't know wether the new music just doesn't strike the same chord in me or if the drugs I was doing every weekend played a part in making me more into the music. Either way it's great news that he is still making music. Since hard trance of the era came to an end, nothing else quite gave me the same feeling since!! Great interview Twan ! Looking forward to the next 2.
The best thing about this interview is how humble and down to earth Kai actually is. An Artist which you can tell doesn't have any ego and genuinely makes music for the love and passion. A true legend of the music scene who deserves the utmost respect. Thank you Kai for your contributions to music over the last 3 decades.
At least he isnt egoistic unlike Tiesto because I have lost so much respect for him fo decades ago. Unfortunely he is doing for money and fame now but not for creative talent anymore unlike Kai does so I decided to stop follow him or do not want to hear anything from him.
@@muzikxpress Thank you so much, Twan, for bringing these good news! "Life is too short" is my favorite Kai Tracid's track, even though the main theme is a cover from the "Der Flug auf dem Glücksdrachen" from the legendary movie "Neverending Story". My mind always keeps drifting away, when I'm on the road while listening to this track in my car. One of the Hard Trance classics OAT for sure!😉
@@sascha_van_der_blondhorst You are welcome! Of course I did ask him about that as well! Let's see how you all like my German pronunciation attempt of that title :P #staytuned
@@muzikxpress Of course, as always! Fantastic! Still remember buying that CD-single back then, when you knew nothing about those guys beyond the photo on the cover. Therefore, they were surrounded by a pleasant form of mystery. Hardly anybody even knew how vinyl-DJing worked, or how they made the tracks. Most probably you will have asked them once in a while, but it would of course be great to peek into the sequencer sessions a bit. Most will not have the old software running today, but they will have stems at least for the hits. Would have been fun if Kai could have shown what bothered him in the new DT64 track on screen. However, many of the old guys perhaps don't want to share the secrets as everybody today does. The mystery shall remain. ;-)
Great interview, always huge productions by Kai! I remember buying all his releases back in the '90's in my local recordstore (of course Bonzai Records/Blitz Recordstore). Been following him since his 1996 (So Simple), but also still buy his current releases (like his bomb made together with Ramon Tapia, a friend of mine). Congrats Kai!
Very interesting interview, thank you, Twan! I clearly remember that "Skywalker 1999" and "Trance & Acid" were huge among the Trance-music fans in my country. I wasn't, really, much into Kai's music, although, I respect him a lot. But I do remember, that at one of the, early, party's in my life (I wasn't even a DJ, by that moment) someone played "Liquid Skies" and it completely blew my mind! There was some speculation around the town, that some promoters going to book Kai for his live show, but, sadly enough, It never happened, I guess those were the "finest hour" years for Euro-Trance / Progressive-Trance. I'm wishing a Kai best of luck with the process of creating a new album! Once again, thanks for the interview, it was very interesting and well-cognitive!
Love the interview! It would be great that if artists offer you to show you around their studio or the storage room like Kai did for you to capture that too. Thanks
I did 3 interviews with Kai and since I was running out of time (I had another interview appointment afterwards) so there was no time anymore to see the storage room, otherwise I would have captured that for sure. There's more studio footage which I will show in the other interviews I did with him :)
Thank you for making this video and thank you Kai Tracid for agreeing to that interview. I was so inspired by your tracks when I was a teenager and being able to watch this interview now is a bliss. I remember listening to "destiny's path" on repeat for weeks.
One of the best yet! Could have listened to him another hour. So good that he's stuck to his guns, and there's a 303 front n center. Looking forward to the other 2 with him, hope his album comes out sometime soon.
Thanks a lot Marty! I did 2 more interviews with Kai, which should be online in the next 2 months :) Loved his stories, can't wait to post the other 2 interviews!
Amazing interview, love all of his stories and the willingness to just keep telling his stories. Really hoping that Trance and Acid is one of the 2 upcoming interviews!
@@muzikxpress Sorry was too excited, so wrote before i finished the interview :) he seem like a very nice guy, i love seeing these legends and get a sense of how their personalities is, and just to hear about they producing lives. Your videos are by far the onces i enjoyed the most on RU-vid. I hope you keep this up for a long time. Thank you for taking your time to make these videos for us :)
Hope you enjoyed it! There will be 2 more interviews, I also spoke with Kai about "Life Is Too Short" and in the third interview we discussed his classic "Trance & Acid".
Oh I had missed it☹ didn't see the notification....sorry😪 Thank you Muzikxpress for this amazing interview 😄🙌🏻♥️🕺🕺🕺🕺 Thank you Kai Tracid for those memorable tracks you created during 90's😄🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺 because of that I still remember my childhood fun times and the 90's music 😄♥️🙌🏻🤩
One of the best interviews with all the histories around the great tune "Your Own Reality", of course one of my favourite Trance producers from years ago :) My favourite original tune from his is "Your Own Reality" and Arrow - Back In The House (Kai Tracid Mix), one of the best remixes too :) Thanks a lot for this, Twan :D
I was never interested in La Bouche back in my teen years, but "Be My Lover" was sounding good and everybody was blasting it out of their speakers. But only now, in 2020, I learn that it was never an original version and, in fact, a remix by Kai Tracid. Better late than never I guess, thanks!
No no, let me explain. The original is not done by Kai, but on the CD Maxi there was a remix called "Trance Remix". And that one was done by Kai, so not the original version you heard on the radio etc :)
@@muzikxpress that's exactly what I mean. I always thought it was just another tune by LaBouche themselves that was sounding like something I like. But 25 years later I learn it always was a remix.
@@wrmusic8736 I don't think you understand me correctly; the version on the radio is NOT done by Kai. One of the remixes on the CD Maxi single (called "Trance Mix") is the version Kai did. That's why he also said in the interview it was not his song that became a hit. He "just" did one of the remixes that did appear on the CD Maxi of "Be My Lover", but he wasn't involved with making the original (radio) version.
Really nice interview Twan. Kai has so many good stories to tell. It's just me but I feel that Your Own Reality (and Dance 4 Eternity) took a very common inspiration from B.B.E 7 Days And One Week?
I'm afraid not.... This is "just" a hobby for me and I don't have a travel budget for these vlogs / interviews. That means I can only do interviews with people that live close to me (I'm based in the south of The Netherlands). The producers I spoke to already which come from abroad were mostly here for gigs or for example the Amsterdam Dance Event etc. So I am dependent on people that visit The Netherlands for gigs / events. But as you know there aren't any gigs / shows unfortunately. Also from what I can see is that the last time X-press 2 did a gig in The Netherlands is over 10 years ago..... So I'm afraid an X-Press 2 interview is not gonna happen..... But.... I still have a lot of stuff coming up in the near future. There's plenty of people that live here in The Netherlands or right across the Belgian / German border. I have some more interviews lined up for later this year, so hopefully also some stuff you like :)
He is way better than Tiesto because I used to love Tiesto so much but until he is dropping his big room house shit I have lost so much respect for him and thats it.
