Son runs an 07 SSS .. brilliant value box of fun for Cornwall and Devon roads...and yes, induction kit sounds great. Rear seat pops out and it carries his tools (carpenter/joiner) plus I can still fix it on the driveway. (Rear caliper piston and seal kit £18!)
Great video as always James. As an MX5 owner (who's also used it on track) I definitely agree with you on how these appeal as they're that bit more practical but still a riot! Really interested to see what you think of the new model because I've heard it's quite different.

My sister her Twinair 500 off the road for 2-3 years, needed to go to the garage repairs to alternator as it was siezed and MOT stuff. Clock had stopped working and still needs coding as it’s flashing due to having less miles than it thinks it has. Fiat wanted stupid money to change the speedo, fitted one from a breaker after a ecu testing company failed to fix it. So had been back off the road a week in their hands, hence fitted one myself. It then flagged up a crankshaft sensor. Motor parts factor game me the cam sensor by accident, another 24hrs wait. He also said it’d need coding or re-learn. I don’t have a fancy scan tool, just a cheap app one on my phone, got my sister to drive it as I tried to clear it and after two or three attempts the EML went out Weirdly it’s been nearly a year, and it’s only had a drop link in the mean time from memory, certainly can’t believe just how little bother it’s given for the lack of maintenance she puts it through
Trivial pursuits but the Swift is like some other Suzukis in having a curved bumper so that UK registration plates don't lie flat/flush - nearly as bad as some cars where the designers never thought where the reg plates would go...
Question: For a stag doo, we are all going to buy cheap cars (& I mean cheap - Circa £250 each plus services & repairs), to do a Lands End to John O’Groats run in. Where would be your advice to look & source cars? 🤔 Just something a bit different to the ‘get pissed & fall over’ stag doo 👍🏻
My son did a Geneva and back charity run, budget was a grand, that was hard enough to get, can't see you'll have much luck at 250 bid, scrap buyers bid 3 to 400 min these days, back in the day scrap was 50 quid so you'd be in with a chance, even at auction now it's 500 min plus fees.
I’ve got an 11 year old 500, 91k miles, starting to have a lot of little issues and I’ve put quite a bit of money in to it but I do like the 500s. I’d never sell it for decent money unless I do the work so I’m thinking I’ll slowly do the work and keep it until the bitter end now 😂
@@sarahfrith1984 Mine's 15 years old, one of the first in the country when I bought it. Apart from brake pads & tyres it's had a clutch slave cylinder & a passenger door handle hinge which I fitted myself and that's it. Most reliable car I've ever owned, can't get rid of it, it just works 👍
@@stepheng8779 I’ve needed a gear box and clutch, 3 replacement door handles, pads twice, discs, new battery, new rear beam, new oil sump, suspension bush, thermostat housing… that’s off the top of my head, last service it needed plugs, it eats tyres too 🤦🏻♀️

They need lots of software updates ( 500s ) and if it’s twin air set it on fire. 120k up its chuff it’s finished anyway they are not designed for that kinda mileage. Sold them for 10 years

Why do car dealers role out " if you buy a 10 year old car you need a couple of grand spare for repairs. It's a 10 year old car" Other way round. I don't want to spend 2 grand repairing a 10 year old trade in. They want there cake and eat it.
I'm not sure what you mean. There is a cake but it can only be divided so many ways. If you buy a small cheap one you can expect to eat every day and it last forever. If you want that spend more and go big. As a Baker you cant perform miracles just because you are providing a service
I went to look at a car for a friend, place called repossessions direct, they were next to motor hog(salvage yard) so it was a cat, also the cars were advertised plus vat (!) so they looked cheap as we're 20% less, told the guy you can't advertise cars plus vat, obviously on a van you could, so all in all bit of a con really.

Never understood the attraction of the 500 compared to an i10! The i10 is just big enough to be practical [and no cambelt] The only car I have never got bored with - after 9 years!
It's the retro cool Fiat 500 look that attracts people. The design has a "happy face" on it. I'm sure the i10 is the better bet, depends if you buy a car with your heart or your head.
Different people look for different things in a car: 1. i10 = Reliable/robust, basic (not much to go wrong), by most metrics the older one's especially are dull to look at and drive. 2. Fiat 500 = Definitely not as well engineered as the equivalent i10, more modern design so more to go wrong (electronics etc), actually looks like it's been styled and handles pretty well i.e. can be fun to throw about. * So person 1 might choose the i10 as being best for them, typically the sort of person who views a car as purely a tool/mechanism from getting from A to B and isn't really interested in 'having fun driving/the driving experience' (AND) * Person 2 might choose the 500 as being best for them because they enjoy the experience of driving, want something decent looking, enjoyable to drive (chuckable in the corners) and is willing to accept that it'll almost certainly cost more to maintain. Neither person type if 'wrong' they just have different priorities.
Would you recommend getting the 2019 land rover Discovery HSe luxury it is not very nice don't like your Suzuki swift I just don't like it absolutely hideous car I hate these cars that's horrible on the road I like VW better horrible hot hatch
