I don't like the engine. The 1.3 gti was better. The 1.5 doesn't rev and has no torque under 3,5k . Maybe reprogramming the ecu can fix that, but the air intake is tiny, so that migh have to be adressed too and then there is the ignition,.... it should be right from the beginning. Suzuki knows, how to do tiny hot-ish hatchbacks, they kinda screwed it up with this one.
I think the 1.6 hdi is a better choice in these. The thp engine is from what I understand a wet belt. I think getting 100k out of the thp engine will require prompt servicing and the oil has to be spot on and biggest thing you need to get the thp engine to 100k is a miracle.
Do you not find the Kia Sportage's (7-8 year old) very crusty around the back end?....I help a mechanic friend regularly and we've had a few in for rear brakes. The subframe, arms, brake backing plates were rotten, so much so the abs sensors were falling out....as the hub has to come off to do the horseshoe shaped handbrake shoes the backing plates fell to pieces, a simple job turned into a bloody nightmare.
sun roof is less desirable, brembos were standard for all 20vts, early model 20vts came with the cloth/fabric seats, i picked up a plus in 2021, for free, 350whp, 2nd spare low mileage engine is going to be built for 1000bhp (keeping it fwd still) but getting the cambelt and turbo replaced on current engine.
Hi we have a VW 1.2 Fox Urban 2011 plate with 116,500 on the clock. I was hoping this has a timing chain but I think it makes this sound. Is it a slapping sound or a rattle? It always sounds like a Citroen Dyane when it starts a bit like a lawnmower.
As they say, horses for courses 👍 Ideal for short commutes but it’s all about destination charging . Drive to supermarket and top up while shopping. Drive to restaurant or cinema/theatre and charge while being entertained . No need for fast charge , more regular charge .
When was Kuga last serviced ? I’m sure the pollen filter is down by the clutch pedal switches . If one fails then the brake becomes an override, so hence needing both pedals to start.
What about people who can not have a home charger? I would be totally screwed as the nearest fast charger in 35 miles away from my home. To get the range that I would need, the cost is £60k+ for a vehicle with that battery. Plus, until there are as many chargers as there are petrol pumps, the public are being miss sold a product that isn't fit for purpose
@ChopsGarage using a 3-pin wall plug Nissan Leaf 24 kwh 12 hours for 124 mile range, VW Golf 35kwh 17 hours for 144 miles, both of these are no more than a milk float. Get a 66kwh to achieve a minimal required range, and it will take 33 hours to charge on a 3-pin. This technology is flawed. It's not 'green', the manufacture of these cars is an issue and where do people think the electricity to run 41 million cars driving around the UK is coming from it will not be solar or wind.
@@stevewright9305 no needs to be nuclear. It's no more flawed than fossil. If we were already electric and someone came and told us we were going to drill for oil the same arguments would be used against that I'm very sure of.
@ChopsGarage it will never be nuclear because the 'green' activist and EV evangelists will not agree to it, and we all know that these minority protest groups have more sway than the so called 'man in the street' and before we know it freedom of movement is now enforced on the population and road pricing introduced to keep low salaried people from owning their own transport.
The airbags will not go off just because you disconnected a plug. It will simply record a circuit fault that you will have to clear afterwards (but only if you turn on the ignition before reconnecting the seats).
I bought a car from High Peak. It had a powerful air freshener in as all their cars did. I chucked it away and so far have not noticed any bad smell so hope it wasn't to hide smoke. Smokers should have special number plates to distinguish them.
Think this has been mentioned before, but a major issue with electric cars is that even a small accident that damages even part of the batteries will result in an insurance company writing the car off due to the expense of replacing the batteries.
Should have remote keys for lock/ unlock. Toyo tyres are a favourite tyre recommended by the owners club without breaking the bank. Battery is small and only lasts 3-4 weeks if not used. Handbrake is crap on them all even with all new parts fitted lol. I have an 04 with 36000 miles and its mint underneath, owned 12 years.
@@ChopsGarageI think around that time alot of Toyota's had poor handbrakes. I slacken the cable off at the lever, pump the brakes a dozen times, pull the lever up one click and tighten the cable at the lever until just dragging....when released off the one click it should be free. So far that has worked for me for the MOT.
I am a real petrol head and had lots of great cars over the years incuding big Jags, Saabs, BMW's, 1600e Escort a Hemi V8 5.7litre and my last car a lovely AMG Merc convertible, but now I own EV6 AWD. At 320bhp it is the best, most fun, smoothest high tech car I have ever ownned. I love it I now plan to keep it many years. So wake up, forget hybrids go full EV and embrace the future.
My wife wanted on of these cars. Now she never drives it. It cost a fortune to fix it when it never even gets driven. Breaks while parked. Now its my problem. And im sad to sell it to someone. They are garbage
The real problem comes when a dealer says everything works and if any problems give then a ring. The aircon doesn’t work and when you ring they tell you to piss off. Thats the problem.
9:30 couple options I’ve used to remove smoke smell. On Amazon Airvidox worked a treat on a golf I was selling or buy one of those ozone machines. Used one on a q7 and got rid of the smell
I have a 72reg szL and get 66.4 to a gallon of petrol brill car got a new one on the way the ultra for 16453 .90 as i work in the public sector happy days for me😀.
only issues are, most insurance companies won't insure, older evs as batteries expensive, also if crashed, they are written off by insurance. that's if you can get insurance
Car cleaner here.....I add "liquid air freshener" to my detergent when using a wet vac,i get it from my local chemical place as they come in diff scents in 5L (Lemon is great), really soak into the carper/fabrics making it smell much nicer, when dried if there is some odour left get some of the proper "Oust Air Freshener Odour Eliminator" not the cheaper stuff or supermarket own brand. Run the car in re-circulation with fan on no.2 for a few mins, switch off engine & leave doors closed for a fews hours, then before going home/locking up spray some more with doors closed over nite. I also use the proper household air freshener like Glade ,does wonders!
You work hard enough without working on holiday with the family. My Mrs would go nuts if I was talking to everyone from RU-vid on hols even if it paid for the holiday😂
The wife is a smoker and when ever she drives the car the first thing she does is light up a fag before she sets off then cracks open the drivers window. As the journey proceeds she flicks the fag ash out the window but most of it comes straight back in and goes into the back. I am the mug that gets the job of cleaning the car but if she ever gets in my classic cortina she is bared from smoking so its a fag before journey starts and as soon as we reach our destination its fag in mouth again .😂
Morning Chops a quick tip Re Smoke and smell Grab a nice clean bucket chuck In a teaspoon of table salt Boil the kettle and cover the salt to let it dissolve then fill the bucket from the tap then get fresh clean straw ,not hard to find in Devon ,stick plenty in the bucket and leave in the car for a couple of days it absorbs the smell brilliantly.
After using it do get a can of "Oust Air Freshener Odour Eliminator". Chops my old son, I think you’re over paying massively for the garage work. Just the trend seems very heavy on cost in my experience. May be worth looking around.
I agree, using them for ages with those prices i would of gone elsewhere many months ago. They messed up his Rav4 didn't they but still charged him! It was 100% their fault too.
Good job on the Kia Rio. In terms of commitment to getting into nooks and crannies to get rid of smells, it reminds me of your makeover of Doghair Astra.
