I loved this video. I was a bit late as I didn't start playing Minecraft until 2017 but man did those two and a half years on console with all the friends that are now offline feel way longer than the past four years.

I was always Java only as a kid but I remember my cousin explaining the official Console Edition minigames to me, and they sounded so elite and official, not like any kind of replacement for Java servers at all. Three free Cs (cavern, cove, and crucible) the maps were called, and I could tell they were well-engineered just from his description.

I have such fond memories of the PS3 & XBox 360 versions of minecraft. I remember that my older brother made a multistory casino in the 360 version. And PS3 is where me and him played split screen often. Good times.

I miss the days of coming home from the last day of school of 7th grade, popping in the disc to the xbox 360 edition, hopping in a party with some homies i met on bo1 zombies and playing all night on a warm calm summer night with noting but our voices, the slight meow of our cat and the wind hitting the house.

This is the best version of minecraft

there was this one experience during minigames where i was absolutely cracked at battle mode. I ended up fighting a team of 4 by myself and managed to survive while killing leik 2 of them and dealing massive amounts of damage to them all. this was on cavern btw.

MC Xbox 360 was the first version I played, and I had a ton of good memories with it. I tried to create so many minigames using really primative redstone and copied Rooster Teeth a lot. RIP Console Edition and RIP Achievement Hunter.

I spent years of my life on this game creating awesome structures to eventually relog after a year or two break and find my world corrupted, again like my other world. I loved the orange knight skin and even though my current youtube videos are not on Minecraft, just wait. I play Minecraft every day just hoping they let bedrock be able to play any version. I've never really played the console version of Minecraft. I used to play Pocket Edition when I was younger, and I never got it on a console because of that. As of now tho, I have been gifted an Xbox 360 from my friend, and it has Minecraft on it, so I might play the console version sometime in the future. Btw, this video was actually really good. Microsoft bought Mojang in 2014, the mini games were added in 2016. The narrative that places Microsoft owning mojang just before the downfall is incorrect (I’m not saying that Microsoft isn’t guilty of anything, they clearly killed legacy edition, but not as coldblooded as you might think) they actually continued the development for ps4, ps3 and 360 edition bc Sony didn’t joined to the better together update at first. Also us, the players, are in part guilty of the screwed version that is bedrock. And what im going to say might be off topic, but as a legacy console player I never truly made the switch to bedrock, i actually waited to get a pc and jump to Java asap, Bedrock doesnt the feeling or filosophy of old legacy, Java (with all those well known errors) is close to what minecraft legacy was. I just feel like home, bedrock isnt shit but also i dont think its a truly minecraft experience. Bedrock have all the things we hate about microsoft owning minectaft but it needed 3 years to exist (2014 microsft adq mojang, 2017 bettertoghr rls)

You can still play the older version in bedrock, I purchased my copy on ps4 and transferred it to ps5 and in the main menu you can select editions and it will take you back to the old console version

Always been a bedrock lover, but damn it's so subpar to legacy.

More accurate title would be "Reminiscing on the old console versions". Cause in terms of that, the video is good and a very enjoyable listen at that, but when it's presented as "the history of legacy console" it lacks a lot of the "history" of the legacy console editions. I'd love to have heard more details about what we know about the development of major legacy console specific things, such as minigames and the unique updates we got. But since u didn't take that angle it's still a great video under "Reminiscing". Also the video includes a bit too much "old things were better" type elitism. It's good to feel nostalgic for things and talk about how you enjoyed or even prefer thous times, but i'd recommend calming down a bit to not make the newer player base, who might have clicked on this video curiously to learn about a version of minecraft they might not be aware of, feel gatekept. *Edit: also on the section discussing the minigames. 4J studios were moreso the once involved in making them, rather than Mojang.
