That was one of the pieces of information that police kept close to the vest, so to speak. When Adams severed head was found, the coroner and PD knew that his nose had been fractured, but they didn't release that info to the public for decades. When Toole mentioned that he had punched Adam in the face repeatedly to quiet him, it immediately gave credibility to his confession.

We shouldn’t place blame on the mother, I’m sure she hates herself and feels guilty for this every day. It wasn’t her fault what happened to Adam, it was that terrible terrible man. Besides, my parents grew up around the same time period and they always tell me how different it was, parents didn’t really have a problem leaving their kids alone for a little while or letting them hang out in toy sections of stores while they were shopping, because it was a much different time in the 70s and 80s. Roxy77777777 They did come through it despite how the tragedy changed them, though. They’re still married and have had other children since then. John Walsh began a long career narrating America’s Most Wanted and In Pursuit With John Walsh. He is a criminal investigator and huge victims’ rights advocater. His son, Adam, is the reason that you hear “Code Adam” in stores across the country when there is a lost child. When that code is called, they are supposed to lock all entrances and monitor everyone leaving the store while they search the store for the lost child. While this baby’s life was cut tragically and horribly short, it wasn’t for naught. He has made a huge impact on how a child’s disappearance is handled in the United States. God bless him and I truly hope that he’s resting in peace.

This little boy's death is so heartbreaking. If there is anything positive that can be said it's that because of his death, his parents dedicated their lives to saving other children's and people's lives. His dad John Walsh was the host of America's most wanted, Unsolved Mysteries, and several other crime shows that continue to shine a spotlight on killer's and their victim's all around the world. So, this little boy's tragic death has saved countless lives over the year's and brought killer's of all type's to justice. For those of you blaming his poor mother, you have to realize that times were very different back then and things like this just didn't happen as often as it does today. Everybody has always heard "we used to leave our doors unlocked back then". People never think something like this will ever happen to them but stories like this have proven that this type of tragedy can happen to any of us. So before you start judging his poor mother, think back on your own life and count how many times something like this could have easily happened to you or someone else in your family. I'm sure that his mother has had year's and year's of suffering and blaming herself and she doesn't need anybody else to tell her what could have or should have been done. The person to blame for this little boy's death is NOT his mother, its not the employee, its not the other little boys that were also playing those games. It was completely Ottis Toole's fault and he is the ONLY person that should be being blamed here, no one else... Rest in peace Adam. You have truly been a guardian angel for so many people.

Why'd you say that? Every parent is tasked with taking care of AND paying attention TO their own children. I understand that it takes a village to raise a child, but that's what the assumption that the man and woman that made the child to begin with is doing the best they can raising them. You pay attention cuz pedophiles are lurking to begin with

I remember this case like yesterday as I was a teenager... it made me become an over protective mother. I knew about this awful tragedy. At least this innocent child did not die in vain. Because of this, Walmart created “Code Adam”. I worked at Walmart years ago. For anyone who doesn’t know what “Code Adam” is, here’s an explanation. When a parent (etc), loses track of a child, a Code Adam is announced over the loudspeaker. The child’s age, physical description, and clothing are given. The entrances /exits are immediately guarded. Anyone with a child is not allowed to leave without being stopped, “inspected” & the child questioned. The other employees immediately stop whatever they are doing (except cashiers - but they are also watching anyone coming through the line). Employees search every inch of the store for the child. We were trained on the area we were responsible for searching depending on what area we worked in. I was involved in over 100 Codes for the 3 years I worked there. Thank God every child was found safely. But every time that code came over the speaker, most of us (mostly parents ourselves), were scared. It’s like we held our breath until we heard “Cancel Code Adam”. Adam Walsh’s memory will live on.

At eight years old I slipped into a really dark depression. For almost a year a refused to go to the local mall. When I finally did go, I would not leave a arm’s length between me and my mother. One time I had started looking at some toys at JCpenny for a split second. I looked around for my mom, could not directly see her, had a panic attack and passed out. During this time a really sweet girl I was friends with was riding her bike. She got to the end of the sidewalk and went to get off her bike to turn it around and accidentally fell into the street hitting her head. At the same time that happened a car came around the corner crushing it. 😢 Im 47 now with weird PTSDs when it comes to malls or large groups.

Poor baby. I was almost abducted at 10 yrs old. I was SO lucky. I know I'd be dead if I wasn't so close to home. He planted a wounded bird, when I picked it up, a car pulled up, stopped fast, swung open passenger door and screamed for me to get in to help save the bird! He screamed at me over and over...I was shocked but I finally screamed back..."I DON'T NEED A RIDE I LIVE CLOSE BY!" He yelled again, so did I, saying NO! and he burned his wheels and the passenger door slammed shut. If I wasn't close to home I may have gotten in that FREAKS car! I'm so grateful I didn't. SO grateful. RIP Adam.

I hope the Sears employee lives with this everyday. You do not just push children out of a store without contacting security and parents.

The manager (s) should have handled this situation immediately, not the security guard(s).

This is why I rather let my daughter (when she's older) throw a big tantrum and I become embarrassed until I think we should try shopping when she'll calm down THAN risking her to be abducted. I think this video is traumatizing, poor baby boy RIP, but let this be a lesson to be learned to society and keep an eye out for sickos.

Bless his little heart, I hope he didn’t suffer long. When he closed his little eyes in this world he opened them in the next and no doubt the first thing he saw was the face of Jesus Christ. That’s where he is now and forever. I hope his parents are believers in Jesus Christ because if they are they will see their sweet little boy again!! I pray that they Lord comforts them with this reality, God bless

Dear Mr & Mrs Walsh my heart aches for your loss, but I know there is a special place in heaven for Adam and a special place in hell for that awful man, God bless you and your family.
