Brooklyn Drill took off in 2019 with the rise of Pop Smoke and Fivio Foreign, but it was a long time in the making. Early Brooklyn artists like Bobby Shmurda and Rowdy Rebel paved the way. Then artists like Bam Bino, Curly Savv, and Dah Dah kept it lit. In 2016 and 2017 artists like 22gz and Sheff G hopped on the UK sound and started the wave NY is still on today. Plenty more artists like Jay Dee, PNV Jay, Envy Caine, Maxthademon, Ciggy Blacc, 26AR, Bizzy Banks, Dusty Locane, Rah Swish, Coach Da Ghost, Freshy Dageneral. Played a part in the scene and groups like Woo and Choo also drew fans in.
