Bwonsamdi's voice actor is criminally good, like it's crazy how likeable and just fun he is, and he's a bfa character too, and still this good even if the expansion was bleh
Agreed, i'd say the extreme likability of that character comes about 15% from his contributions to the lore, and 85% from the incredible voice acting behind it. I think it was last Blizzcon when they introduced the actor in one of the panels. They also introduced us to others like the actress behind princess Talanji, they're both Brits if i recall. Oh and even the old lady behind Nola the tortollan was introduced.
So true. Best VA and character to come out of bfa. I hope we see him again in future expansions. All thought i would not be suprised if this was the last time we see him :(
@@MystfireStudio wtf? Well, glad they did end up giving some stuff, at least. I honestly thought it would be a no-brainer to include him, surprised to hear that it nearly didn't turn out that way.
Definitely personal bias here, but I’m super happy with bwonsdamdi’s character development so far. Even if it stops here, I’d be happy. I’m a sucker for the kinda sinister/cunning mannered ‘good guys.’
Neither die Atalai Priest, nor the Manastorms or dead. It explicitly says on the minimap that you're location ist Zul'Gurub/ Mechagon. Also, the fight with the Manastorms stop, before you kill them. So you are being transported (physically or sprituially) to these locations to play the loan shark of Bwonsamdi.
Thanks for pointing this out. I thought the Manastorms had died and we missed it somewhere. They're iconic characters and I would hate to think when this expansion is over that we won't run into them again because they're dead.
I liked how you said she "got warchief". I have this image in my head of that scene from her perspective, they have the conversation then it pops a big ol achievement on the screen.
lol Kinda sad you didn't show the horde side voice over. The way he addresses the horde characters as heroes is way more enthusiastic. We laugh every time we're in there and hear the HERRROOOOOOOOOES. XD
I was wondering if he says something different if you play horde, so I’m glad. Since as alliance, we don’t really interact with him much compared to the horde
The story, the connections to other lore, AND BOSS MECHANICS EXPLAINED?! This is the most POG series. Big fan. Wasn't expecting all that. 10000000/10 well done
If you notice when you enter each bosses' respective part of the dungeon you first go through a portal. So it's possible that you are actually going to a part of Mechagon that Millhouse and his wife are located at. Mechagon music even plays during the encounter.
I think the general idea is you are going in and out of the Shadowlands with the doors you go through. Not that those 3 bosses are actually in the Shadowlands at least in the case of the Manstorms.
If you look at the map in the instance, you can see each place is labeled. Hakkar is in Zul'Gurub (in a version of Zul Gurub with green mist and upside down temples, so the Emerald Dream), the Manastorms are in Mechagon, and the Broker is in Ardenweald. They're not dead! The Other Side can just connect to the Azerothian Dream, Azeroth's reality, and Ardenweald
Really? Nothing about the insane lore dump we got from this dungeon? That Bwonsamdi used to be a regular troll with potentially a mate/GF? That Bwonsamdi has connections all over the mortal and non-mortal universe, which is rare for loa? That Muehzala was capable of capturing Bwonsamdi, but Bwonsamdi was still protecting the troll souls from the maw? Dude was thought to be a villain, but he may be a cool anti hero in the eyes of blizz. We know from Zalazane's Fall that trolls kinda stopped worshipping Bwonsamdi after some time, but Muehzala's speech basically points that he was before even that. It could be that Bwonsamdi was part of the first troll clan and made a deal with Muehzala to lead his people away from the fear of the maw, but had to become a loa to do so.... something we see potentially going on with Voljin.
Hmm probably caus this has been known for a bit from alpha/beta times so it's not that massive of a lore dump anymore. . Don't know about bwonsamdi seen as a villain though, he's been rocking that deal/anti hero bit for a while now + 2:17 + there's a night fae campaign still to be released in which we'll dive a bit more into the bwonsamdi/mueh'zala bit. Sadly the dungeons don't fully line up with the campaign releases like we've seen with spires of ascension.
Coming into this dungeon with no prior knowledge of any story reveals from beta, I was definitely confused. My guild mates started explaining the mythic mechanics of Mueh’zala’s encounter while I was still reeling over that gargantuan lore reveal. I personally don’t find the Nightfae very interesting, but knowing that their campaign will involve Bwonsamdi makes me reconsider my next alt’s covenant.
That last line form Mueh'zala is extremely important bc up until then we thought that N'Zoth was the manipulator but it makes alot more sense if the jailer was planning this from all the way back in legion and let N'Zoth throw us off his track
I mean the only other group that could face the voidlords are death aka jailer mawsworn. Thing is the void can go between life and death any plane of existence
If there's one gripe i have with the lore in this expansion it is that you're thrown into half of those dungeons without any context because your chosen covenant's campaign story didn't cover that. Story hooks for the dungeons should not have been locked behind the covenants.
Bwomsambi's line about having his fair share of romance "back in the day"... He and the Winter Queen seem to know each other, with Queenie seeming to especially dislike Bwomsambi's company while he tries to not tick her off while also appealing for her graces... Do... Do those two have some strange history? Maybe not active, but has he tried to go after her?
i find it weird that you didn't mention the fact that Mueh'zala was mention in vanilla wow in the desert dungeon Zul'Farrak in Tanaris. he is the original Loa of death, there was a inscription tablet that explain that Bwonsamdi was 2nd to Mueh'zala and that Mueh'zala wanted to consume the soul of everything.
I was hoping for answers about question I got from the dungeon, not just a recap of the dungeon. Like: What even *IS* "De Other Side"? Is it just a part of Ardenweald, or is a separate realm? What does it mean that Bwonsambi is now "da bossman"? He is more powerful than Mueh'zala? Is he true Loa of Death now? What does being the true Loa of Death even mean?
De other side is bwonsamdis corner of the afterlife, his own pocket in the shadowlands 0:10 Being da bossman means he's the boss over mueh'zala, he's won the contest for 'true god of death' and has chained him up. 11:39 which we'll come back to in an upcoming night fae campaign
The white portals in the dungeon show we are teleporting somewhere. We aren't in the shadowlands in those wings of this dungeon. The mechagon wing litterally say mechagon on the map
So I know we've all basically accepted that the line refers to the Dreadlords but what if the "cunning ones" line actually referred to the Brokers? The way Bwonsamdi says "all kinds ah powah" seemed really purposeful.
Hmm, I wonder if we will hear that term more 'potential'. It might be relevant to our ability to use the First Ones gateway if it is not related to our link with Azeroth.
Mechnism broke a bit after Emerald Nightmare, but before BfA. It’s speculated it was around Argus’s death. Read a short story that made it seem like Wrath DK’s captured worthy corpses and kept them in cool/dry places for Bolvar. I suspect that was so they could be raised later despite this issue of the Maw
I wish we knew more about Mueh'zala. Why is he gigantic troll? Did he start as one and was elevated like Bwonsamdi? By who? Or did he create trolls or at least shape them in his image? We still don't know origin of trolls I don't think. They weren't titan creations after all. Mueh'zalas abilities are named after space and reality, not after death and blood like you'd think given his status so that suggests he's much more important being in cosmos than just god of one race in one planet. Maybe like with Elune he also has influence in multiple planeta but unlike Elune everyone just abandoned him because of his destructive ways and he had to find more charismatic proxies like Bwomsamdi to keep himself in power and when even that hardly worked, maybe because Legion demicated most of the planets with life, he finally had to turn into Jailer. I just wish he isn't left as one-note dungeon boss that is just evil for the sake of evil. And more thing: where is Vol'Jin! We now know who fooled him, but we still have no idea who elevated him! I expected him to be central figure like Bolvar right from the get go but nothing as far as I've seen
I haven't played WoW since the end of cataclysm, but man do I like Bwonsamdi as a character. There's just something so great about him, and his voice actor as well. BFA was lorewise quite the letdown, but I am really glad we got more of him
Isn’t that Dr. Facilier’s hat? Nice reference there “ I have friends on da other side”, that song popped up on my head when Rastakhan was doing the deal with bobsalami
Bwonsamdi said something about Hakkar making a return, can't keep a bad loa down for long or somehting. So he's probably gonna make an appearance later down the line. Which would make it the 4th time we fight him, ahead of Raggy( Molten Core, Hyjal Questing and Firelands).
I would think that with the manastorms they aren't dead, but Bwonsamdi's pocket dimension is what he uses to travel everywhere he goes to make deals. So you use his dimension to get to Mechagon to meet up with the Manastorms
I just realised Titans are freaking incompetent. Everything they ever did either failed or turned on them. Are we absolutely sure we want Azeroth to awaken?
Well they do establish in shadowlands that they would be the easiest for the nathrezim to manipulate. If something so powerful can be manipulated so easily, I guess we have to make sure it's on our side
Leaning towards agreeing with you there, tho I think it might be the other way around- Saronite looks like that stuff, not the other way around; I mean, Yogg- Saron liked to see himself as the Old God of Death so it's possible Saronite looks how it does because he delved too deeply.
His response to when he noticed when my group is in the dungeon was different in his tone. Like it was a rejoice. It wasn't the same here. I. Wondering if it's based on faction. The way he says "Heroes" was more joyous than how he did it here.
Where is the other side is it like part of Ardenweild or is just outside of it. How about the loa do they go to Ardenweild or the oder side or is it depending on who got to them first?
