The Story of Destiel [15x18 spoilers!] 

This was the first destiel edit I ever watched. I had never watched an episode of Supernatural, but this edit inspired me to join a discord in preparation for the finale. What followed was some of the most fun months in mommy years in fandom, filled with watching edits, reading fics, and loving the creativity in the Supernatural fandom. I have been outside of the fandom for years now, but I still watch this video often. The music choice, the clips, the interspacing between dialogue from the confession and throughout the series, every part of this edit reminds me why I fell in love with Destiel in the first place. What I’m trying to say is that this edit changed my life when I found it. Thank you for putting the time and effort into making this masterpiece. Even years later, it still brings a smile to my face each time I watch and listen again :)

not a soul can convince me that dean doesn't love cas. it didn't surprise me that he wasn't able to say 'i love you' back because c'mon this is dean winchester we're talking about. he can't process emotions. but the way he looks at cas, ever since the beginning, and his prayers in purgatory. and the _constant flirting._ there's no way the feelings aren't reciprocated :') i just hope they get the happy ending they deserve

Remember what Mary used to say to while putting Dean to bed every night? "Angels are watching over you." When I first heard that in season 5 in the flashback episode, it was a terrifying prophecy: the angels were literally watching over him, using him as a pawn in their game. Now, to me, this takes a whole another meaning. Even if her memory was erased, it almost feels as if Mary had an inkling, a gut feeling, as to how her boys' lives would unfold. Sam was chosen, for better or for worse, by Yellow Eyes. He would always be cared for and paid more attention to by both John and Dean. His issues would be catered to more, obviously, and rightfully so. Dean, being the eldest, the scapegoat and the sidelined, in the constant conflict between John and Sam, would remain largely uncared for. Sam in his adult life goes on to form meaningful relationships; doesn't matter how they end, he has the capacity to do so. Dean...Dean has nobody. Nobody except Sam. It's Cas who saves him, literally renews his life or "re-births" him, pulling him out of hell. After Mary- whose love was not divided at least in his conscious memory, between him and Sam(since Sam was a baby at the time)-for Dean, Cas is that truest form of love which fills the void of her death. He believes again, he is saved again. Cas is Mary's prayer for Dean, realized. In a show so largely governed by destiny, Cas and Dean were meant to meet; what they made of their bond is a different thing entirely. Dean was never alone, he had Cas, he would have Cas, since before he was born.

Dean may not have ever verbally said "I love you" but he has told cas he loves him in so many other ways. Even if you dont ship destiel we can all agree on that. They care for each other weather it be as "lovers", best friends, brothers, how ever you want to see it. They cared about each other, castiel sacrificed himself to save dean. Misha Collins is THE BEST actor I have ever seen, no one can convince me otherwise. Thank you for the amazing character

Arent we skipping over the fact that dean literally said " I'm sorry it took me so long to say it... cas I have to tell you something." Then cas stopped him, and that the fact is If dean had said "I love you" cas would've probably gotten taken by the empty right then and there, without any sort of explanation to dean? Fact of the matter is, this is probably the best, most accurate to their situation, love confession that could've happened.

I'll never forgive spn for not appreciating castiel enough, or at all. He was the most selfless character in the show, sacrificed everything for the people he loved. He deserved better. They better bring him back for the finale.

omg, im not even lying when i said castiels confession has changed my life, i have already lost 4 pounds, i am happy, my anxiety and my depression is getting better, im sleeping better, i am feeling optimistic about life, and i finally believe in love again

to anyone worried that castiel is permanently dead, or that dean won't reciprocate, let me fill you in on my theory, backed with evidence. (spoilers/possible outcome?) - so, to start all of this off, isn't it a little fishy that all of the cast members are so adamant on the fact that Misha isn't in the final episodes? they keep pushing it on us, removing him from the IMDB casting list? (im pretty sure teen wolf? did this with stiles? idk). it's like they're desperate for us to believe that Cas is truly gone. it's a great marketing tactic - instill fear in the viewers to give them whiplash when they return. so let's start. - 1.) Castiel shares a scene with Uriel in season 15. In Febuary, Misha tweeted a set photo of him and the actor for Uriel together. So, obviously, Cas needs to be alive in order to have a scene with Uriel. 2.) Finality. That didn't feel like a true goodbye. Dean didn't even have time to process anything, and wasn't able to say anything in return. 3.) Leaked Script. There's a line that says, "Dean can't reciprocate. Cass doesn't need him to." Can't does NOT mean Doesn't. 'I can't love you,' is different than 'I don't love you,'. Dean doesn't have even a second to process things. He's emotionally constipated, and in a timeframe of 6 minutes, his best friend of 10 years professed his love for him and promptly died. He can't reciprocate because he is overwhelmed with everything that just happened. I have hope. I truly think that Dean will reciprocate those romantic feelings for Cas. (also to anyone saying that it's not romantic, could you explain the line 'Because what I want, it's something I can't have'? Cas already has Dean's platonic/friendly love. He wants more, but knows he can't have it.)

I was not prepared for this to just start with Cas' monologue holy fuck

I honestly thought Dean and Cas kind of drifted a little as the seasons went on. Still close but their relationship had a boundary that wasn’t there before. Seeing this makes me so happy. I ship it, but honestly putting that aside this love goes beyond romantic, platonic, etc. This is true love. This is soulmate love. You don’t have to go all fancy with the hugging, kissing, and sex scenes to show love. Just being there, supporting each other through the most insane shit ever. Just looking into each other’s eyes and saying everything without saying anything. Just saying I love you in so many ways other than the words itself and knowing what they truly mean. This, this right here says it all and it broke us. I first watched this little confession scene where there was little context to what was happening beforehand but Cas started talking about him being happy, and that it was Dean that made him happy. I was like so shocked that this really happened then saddened and more shocked about him being taken away...or even dying and Dean was left in shock and broken. When I watched the full scene, I cried even more. I saw the defeated look on both their faces as they new the end was coming. Dean’s face as he realizes this is it and he can’t save anyone just was devastating. Then, when Cas mentioned that he made a deal that when he found true happiness he could be taken, I was confused at first. That’s when Cas started talking and suddenly everything Cas had said to Dean made the confession 100 times more sad and heartfelt and I couldn’t take it. I broke down as Cas was literally confessing to Dean that he’s his true happiness, he’s the reason Cas was able to fall in love with humanity because in his eyes, he had the perfect human being to show him how to feel like they do. When I saw the little portal thing open (sorry not caught up just stumbled upon this spoiler) I lost it because IT WAS ALL TRUE. HIS FEELINGS WERE TRUE AND THE PORTAL LOOKING THINGY KNEW AS WELLLLL OR ELSE IT WOULDNT HAVE COME! I can’t believe it took this long to finally happen, and now I’m left with a hole in my heart. I’m going to watch this show again, try to make it to the end and hopefully by then there’s a happy ending for them somewhere.

my roommates are coming in and out of their rooms so im trying hard not to lose it, this show somehow knows how to break me every single time. I haven't stayed caught up, I don't know whats going on since season 12 but the "I love you scene" just popped up and I couldn't resist. If they don't pull something in the last episode then i'm gonna flip out, this show has been teasing us and pulling at our heart strings for too long not to give us this.

also it is 100% possible that he filmed his season finale scenes even if he wasn't there the day they technically filmed them. it's actually pretty common to do when scheduling someone who might not have very many scenes in a certain episode.

I was so angry when Cas didn’t show up in the finale. Like, seriously??! Bobby said that he was helping Jack, so Cas couldn’t have gone and confronted Dean?? Like, Dean never got the chance to talk to him about how Cas confessed. It just ended with a stupid storyline of Sam’s old life that didn’t really make sense in the first place. Like where the hell is Eileen??! *siiiiigh*.....
