Idk. People keep saying that Jensen’s acting in this scene is emotionally constipated, but I think it’s fitting. I think just like us, Dean is slowly realizing that Cas is in love with him and you can see it around 1:31 as his eyes start to seriously tear up. This is honestly how I felt watching the episode. The sudden realization that Cas is ACTUALLY saying it. I was in disbelief and shock and so is Dean here. In this exact moment, it would’ve been so out of character for Dean to react in any other way. Though I wish we’d get more of his breakdown next episode (doubtful though), which I think is something we get from Dean a lot and that would reveal his true feelings. It was wonderfully acted on both ends.

"Destiel" is the kind of the slowburn that reflects Ten/Rose.

It truly is just being. I have family members who are gay and yes they're scared to come out, but just being themselves around people that matter and care still, does make them happy. I know this has nothing to do with destiel but I find that it connects a bit. These too are finally canon and if they aren't saving Cas, the tears are gonna come in sobs.

When the Empty told Cas that it would come when he had a moment of true happiness, I thought: oh Cas and Dean are gonna be together and it will come for Cas, but this thought was just a little fanfic in my head, I NEVER thought that that's what would ACTUALLY happen!!!! I'm freaking out 🤯 DESTIEL IS CANON finally

I actually think this is a tragic romantic relationship because it fits Supernatural theme of being sad and dark. Cas loves Dean romantically makes sense but it is one sided as Dean shouldn't. As a brother yes but not as a lover. His love was with Lisa and Ben who I do hope makes an appearance again because if they stick true to Deans character, that's all he ever wanted was a normal family. Love isn't always two sided sadly and this fits the dark theme of this show because as of now most major characters in this show have never not gotten a happy ending.

It’s such a beautiful vid... thank you for making this it’s one of my favorite. One thing I always find myself drawn to with these two is how Dean hugs Cas. When everyone is watching he acts like he doesn’t want to, but when it’s just them, it’s him going for the hug. He’s so touch starved and loves Castiels hugs but can’t let people know that... and when they are alone he allows himself to just be real. To be open with Cas and that says something.

Im gonna write a synopsis real quick about a few destiel related issues and topics I’ve seen, so...get ready for a wall of text ig The confession scene I thought was overall accurate on all accounts, I’m not completely sure why everyone sees deans reaction as blank and like he doesn’t care when it’s the opposite? When faced with great amounts of grief and sadness it’s overwhelming and you can’t really process it,. Dean was tearing up that entire scene, his movements showed his disbelief of what was happening, and what he said made sense as well “Why does this sound like a goodbye..?” “Cas...?!” “Don’t do this Cas!” Those all sound like a desperate call for something he knows he can’t stop, you can SEE the desperation on his face and hear it in his voice. His movements were all mirroring it aswell. Deans always been known for not showing emotion, letting it build up, it’s what he does. Deans reaction is confusion, disbelief, sadness and guilt, he’s overwhelmed and he doesn’t comprehend everything yet. Also when Sam calls he throws the phone to the side and starts crying on the floor, how is that in anyway not showing remorse.? Not to mention the next episode he basically surrenders in return for Cas coming back, dean was giving up...dean....the dean who refused to give up even in the darkest moments. It’s been a common theme that he gives up after Cas is gone, like when he met with Billie, in the future when he had to bury Cas after the mark made him go insane, and that moment there. Even back in like season 5, future dean continued fighting with Cas and some others even when Sam was possessed by Lucifer and they’re in the middle of the apocalypse. We’ve seen dean in some of his darkest moments when Cas is dead. People get the idea that Dean would right away mourn like he did when Lucifer killed him in like season 11 or 12, except that was abrupt with no words spoken, dean only had to process that Cas was dead, in the confession scene he not only had to process the fact Cas loved him (where he previously presumed angels couldn’t love like humans), but also his deal with the empty, the fact Literal Death was banging at the door, they’re in the middle of an apocalypse against god and the fact Cas was sacrificing himself to the empty. He didn’t have time to react (and this was confirmed by Jensen aswell.) This reaction was completely in character and made sense in the circumstance. The only part that aches me is his reaction in the next episode but you can also say he was planning on getting Cas back via giving up so he didn’t react that way because he was hoping Cas would return. Overall the scene wAs really well acted on both accounts and I feel kinda bad about all the hate Jensen got for it. Anyways it’s basically been confirmed that it’s reciprocated anyway, (Via Jensen and misha confirming certain things, plus the somewhat open ending) and Jensen himself said that Dean was overwhelmed and that’s why he couldn’t reciprocate it back in time. Overall I do think the ending was supposed to be different but because of COVID and CW and certain producers I think it got changed a significant amount from what was originally planned, though I think a Cas confession was to be included anyway because of The Whole “Cassiel falls in love with the idea of the righteous man.” And Cas is based off Cassiel with dean being the righteous man. The foreshadowing was there since the beginning and I feel like a lot of shady shit was going down behind the scenes, not just for this but for multiple seasons and panels. There’s been evidence and speculation for a while now and it could explain some behavior of the cast which seem out of character. It could also explain why the “I love you.” Scene that was originally scripted for season 8 was scrapped. But that’s that

It's on the dean character TV trope even the guys want him Balthazar said you have me confused with the other angel you know the one who is in love with you it's confirmed castiel admit to have long been in love with dean also states on Cass wiki that castiel had secretly always been in love with dean but believed it to be unrequited therefore never admitted until circumstances force him to speak it out aloud allowing him a moment of true happiness Cass always wanted dean

This is a great video! Although I’m a little confused at all the comments saying destiel is canon. Cas is canonically in love with Dean, but Dean isn’t in love with Cas. He does love him though. But even if the empty didn’t get Cas they would still not be together. That shouldn’t detract from the deep bond they have though.

Can you please edit some thing where it’s the first time they met and cas says you don’t think you deserve to be saved and then it goes to season 15 episode 18 where he lists off all the reason Dean is good and deserves his sacrifice and then mix other stuff in it that would be so cool

Watching this after the finale is so fucking bittersweet. Not gonna spoil....but they all deserved better. And I can't forgive that. This show has been ruined for me. This ship, however, will live on.
