I am a 1972 boy and never liked the bands of the 50's and 60's. However i make an exception for the seekers ONLY for Judith. That voice. Now she is a beautiful angel singing with Judy Garland and Julie Andrews.
My aunty loved your music and our whole family were privileged to hear her sing your songs she'd play the guitar all night long but when she sang you Judith especially your Olive Tree.. you couldn''t imagine the atmosphere.. our whole family would hush everyone until everyone was silent and if a person was still whispering they would quickly get a ssshhhh until the whole house was absolutely silent.. she was and always will be the best singer in our whole family.. but she imprinted on me in particular you Judith and the Seekers.. I'm a 1970s born child so will always love our era of music xx
RIP !!! Judith Durham your music inspired us in our growing up years, Gone too soon, Enjoyed your music during the era of records & cassettes. The Seeker's existed when no tv was around. Sympathies to the family.
RIP Judith your voice will live on forever . You mastered the hearts note with your heavenly voice . I thank this wonderful song for the brightening of my day earlier this year . I had woken up one morning and although i hadnt heard this song for decades at all ,it was ringing in my thoughts .Intuitively i knew it was a send from the divine shortly later . And such a voice as Judiths it reminded me to enjoy and step out . Thank you to the messenger for lining me with the Seekers ,as it turns out not long there after the next song i heard was i'll never find another you upon awakening once again another morning ,though this one was after a traumatic end of losing a dearly appreciated pet ,my son , a golden retriever - i named Billy - RIP sweetie always in my thoughts .❤❤
Aging is inevitable but somehow their voices just seen to somehow get even better, if that's possible! l never tire of listening to this wonderfully talented group. Long live the best of all time, The Seekers!
Judith Durham....simply amazing. What a range of genres. The UK had Dusty Springfield, we had Judith Durham. Both made it look so easy, both very humble, and both near perfection
I have listened to the Seekers music on and off since a child in the 60s but I don't think I had ever really registered just how clear an pure Judith Durham's voice was. What a great sound combined with the guys.
Finally come accross this song again and looked up this history review. Loved hearing this song as I grew up in the 60's and early 70's. Wonderful to learn about more details about the band and history of this song. Much insight from the lyrics need to be presented to our year 2000's of our kids!
I love this song. The Seekers were a favourite band of my dad's and he used to sing their songs a lot especially this one and the one about morning town.
My favourite Seekers song and soundly in my favourite top ten songs. They made you feel proud not only to Australian but Melbournians. Their music will always appeal for generations to come.
Que gente linda demais. Sempre que escuto choro(DEUS está nessas vidas muito presente)ouça Yesterday com Eles(Marianne Faithfull idem) Almas que cantam e valorizam nossa existência. Valeu
The song was such a hit, it was nice and very meaningful, and one of the iconic songs of its time. There is almost always someone better inside of all of us, who only needs to be released and our lives shall change and for the better.
I met Keith about ten years ago, I was providing the sound for a show that Keith did as a solo in the south west of WA. He was such a lovely man, He sat with us and played all the songs and told us stories about the songs. A beautiful memory for me. Thanks Keith. R.I.P. Lovely Judith.
The seekers still has the same sound and voice many years later ! What a wonderful group ! They made alot good records ! They had a really golden sound !🌟
So sad to watch this knowing we have just lost the brilliant Judith Durham .. she always looked so small and delicate..nobody knew she had bronchiostassis...amazing how she managed singing with that..my niece has it and they likened it to having cystic fibrosis as she needs the mucus off her lungs..Judith you will be missed..Rip
I heard this tune when it first came out and I thought the girl singer had a fantastic voice that cut through and really made the song work. Immortal stuff. R.I.P. Judith Durham.
Judith's death was a sad loss for all of us. Judith's life was a beautiful blessing for all who heard the angelic voice. Rest in peace our beautiful muse.
Georgy Girl is one of the first songs I remember. They were touring when I was born. Unfortunately, the younger generation has never known about The Seekers.
As a huge Seekers fan I am so very fond of the song and Judith's incredibly beautiful voice! And I've never seen this piece before, it is very good, thanks for posting it!
The Seekers weren't exactly a one-hit wonder but this was their anthem. A breezy melody with a great message. That's what the 60's pop music craze was all about!
Thank you for liking my favorite song. Even my dog is called 'Georgy Girl'! This Oscar-losing memorable masterpiece, the theme from the 1966 movie "Georgy Girl," is the song I'd choose to take with me, anywhere and everywhere. I'm 68 years old and I like it even more than I did in1966 when I was 13 and the movie had just opened in the USA...
Siento muchisimo la muerte d e Judith . Era preciosa, ysu voz irrepetible. He sido fan del grupo durante muchos años escuchandolos desde Las Islas Canarias España
Thank you for putting this together! As a little girl, I loved the song, but never knew the story behind Georgy Girl. Of course for the last several weeks as I and millions of others mourn the passing of angelic Judith Durham, I'm seeking out everything I can about her and her music. The Seekers were such an upbeat group, and I will always love their music (and Judith's gorgeous voice). 💖
It was the year of ( 1965 ) I remember very well , talk about creating memories . You know I've have read & heard about HEAVEN , can't fathom it , but what I know about , I believe , but couldn't you imagine when you pass , she is holding out her hand & guiding you in your final resting place , beautiful spirit inside & out , what a legacy , taught me something about being a human being . ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you again, Rich! What an incredible compilation. On a sadder note, I suppose that most Seekers' fans know that Tom Springfield also recently passed away.
I'm sure Judith and the boys told him constantly how much they appreciated him and how much the public would appreciate him if he ever made himself public. There were reasons he might have wanted to stay private that we can all speculate on, but it is shame he couldn't have opened up a little in later life.
Judith Durham was a true gift to the world. Her voice is the cleanest, clearest, true sound. Her petite beauty, modest clothing and humble demeanor always set her apart from the flashy celebrity types. I don't think she ever fully knew what she meant to so many people, especially women. She was popular before my teens, but I have always looked up to her as a model of grace and style. Their music is a real treat in this day of auto tune and electronic effects!
Judith, your voice will always be missed. I was only 6 or 7 when I heard you all sing for the first time, and it will always stay with me forever. RIP JUDITH.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Wonderful video of an amazing song. I never knew that they had hired a professional whistler or that such a thing existed. I was under the impression that the flute players had some special technique to sound that way.
Judith strongly self-identified with the Georgy character in the movie. She had a near-fatal brain hemorrhage in 2013. Fortunately she survived; someone realized right away that something was wrong and got help to her in time. I sent her this song that composed itself in my head, to a very recognizable tune, after I met an Australian girl at an open mike night. I e-mailed it to Judith, and an aide replied that she was thrilled with it. Hey there, Judith Durham Leading up The Seekers through the years You and all your mates gave us lots of fun And memories too - then suddenly Hey there, Judith Durham You had quite the nasty scare that May But your mates stood by you all the way And you pulled right through You ne’er were scared of changing and rearranging yourself Nor scared of jumping down from the shelf More than a little bit Hey there, Judith Durham You had quite the rocky road ahead But you brought out all the strength you hid And, oh, what a change there's been The world has seen a new Judith Durham
A VERY nice tribute 👏 👍 to a wonderful lady singer and her group. ❤ TO Judith Durham.. Judith has made many lives richer with her melodic voice. Amen. Thanks
