I'm 32, Catholic, and single. I just don't trust a lot of people. I suffer from severe anxiety so it's hard. I want to get married and have a family but it's hard to really open up to someone. Everything that you’ve said about feeling relaxed and comfy on your first date with your husband and your previous thoughts about how you should feel dating someone it’s exactly what happened to me and my boyfriend 7 years ago when we met. I felt at home with him and so comfortable that It felt weird as you did. I could be myself around him from day one and it was something I wasn’t used to. I really think sometimes we can put ourselves a lot of pressure on how we should feel, maybe because relationships are something we idealized from movies or novels or whatever reason. But it’s important to understand that love can feel that way too and it’s ok. Thank you for sharing your story Kath :)

This was so refreshing to hear. I've been the exact same way with signing up for dating apps and then deleting them and going back and forth over the last couple years. I get so annoyed with myself- I can't imagine what my friends think every time I talk to them about it lol. But I'm also a strong Catholic and hearing your thoughts and experiences from the same perspective in that respect really helped. Thanks for telling your story!

Mini rant: Your story is so cool to me. How you describe not having that “sparks fireworks” like other guys that were quite frankly bad news anyways, I’ve learned that too and had a heck of a hard time learning it. But I totally agree, at least for me. Like there is and was nothing wrong with that first intensity, but it just was never bueno! And then… how talk about Max… “felt like coming home” even though he wasn’t what you thought you’d go for, etc. I remember watching this the first time just because I love hearing your stories. And then I found out God guided me to hear this. Because the situation you describe going into dating Max, reminded me a lot of my own journey with this new man I was dating. And I had felt SO unsure and scared. Because it was new! Where was that punch in the face of sparks?! (Which yes is at least definitely for me a drawing of trying to heal inner child wounds OOPS AHA). But everything you’ve said lined up to what I was going through. Which in one way healed me a lot for other things going on, but also made me not feel alone in this. Great comfort washed over me. I’m still with that new man. And I felt called to watch this again. And you’re right: this one makes me feel calm, I feel okay to be exactly as I am and not a scrubbed down shiny version of myself that I thought I needed to be. I feel a genuine care from this man and I think I feel even more safe after hearing your story. So, as long winded as this is, I just want to say thank you. I appreciate your story, and here’s to choosing the good ones 🤍

11:30 SUCH A GOOD POINT. My boyfriend would always tell other people this. Even the night before we went on our first date I called him and I was rambling about how I didn’t know if I was ready etc… and he just said “No worries! I’m not worried. Let’s just go on our date and see how it goes.” It made me so much less afraid and then I was actually excited for our date! You can be open-minded without compromising your values. Give people a chance.

Only had one serious long term relationship and would love to have something similar! I feel the same way that you felt. I've heard a quote before talking about how when you feel that spark and churning and nervous and all over the place, that is not the one... But when you feel calm and centered with them, that's the one 🎉 The best online dating tip I received was to put all yourself in the profile, the crazy the chaos the issues the wants the needs, the dreams, the evvvverythig!!! Yes it will scare people off, the wrong people for you which is a great thing!!! Also, you have to research your city and area to understand what apps people there use more, bc it can be different location to location and you want to be on one that has a great majority for where you live or want to be looking.

Oh Katherine I’m soooo happy for you! God is good! Unfortunately my marriage wasn’t what I ever thought it would be, after two and a half years of marriage, so much changed between us, it became very toxic and I question myself- my decisions.. maybe I didn’t listen to God? Maybe I should have prayed more or listened to the Holy Spirit more. But our marriage is at an end. I’m so mentally and spiritually broken, after mental and emotional abuse. I have two kiddos that came from our marriage, and I’m so grateful but right now I’m hurting. I’ve gone through the idea of divorce for the past 7 months, since I left.. I know I made a promise before God the day we got married but my husband put me down so many times, many times I felt so depressed and although I’m not physically living with him anymore, the blame shifting and gaslighting is still going on. My heart breaks because I know God can restore a marriage but he doesn’t want anything to do with God anymore. I feel like I failed. And divorce is my only option now, I can’t go back 😭 I don’t think I can heal from this.. or ever find someone who truly loves me and my kids. I don’t know why I’m writing this on here, I’m sorry I know it’s so random.. I just want to say, hearing how you and max met brings me so much happiness because God does put people together. Not all men will hurt Gods daughters.. there are men out there who will honor their wives and I’m in awe of it!

My life fell apart when I did the 54 day novena to our lady undoer of knots 😅 my friends made a joke about saying the novena to saint Joseph to “clean up” so I did, not seriously and three days after my (now husband) old friend who apparently liked me for three years ( he left and enlisted to the military three years ago) messaged me 😂. Advice; take it or leave it: Girls/women have all the power in dating/relationship building/bonding. Guys/men unless they are very outgoing have to face a lot more rejections and ghosting than girls/women in general if they are even talked to asked or considered for a date/dating. So Girls it's always been in your court and under your control even if some guy/man makes you think otherwise, never give out or give in to any kind of pressure you/your body is not another's play ground or for their enjoyment; it is essentially the path of boding spiritually and bringing you both to the greatest understanding of how you compliment one another fully!!!
